Did you eagerly read all twelve books in the “A Slip in Time” series by bestselling author Jane O’Brien? Did you feel a bit sad and lost when you read the last page in the last book? It was such an engaging series, wasn’t it?
Well, Readers, what have we here? Yes, it’s Jane O’Brien’s first book in a NEW SERIES, “Skye (Branches of Time Book 1)”. It’s a Slip in Time Spinoff! You may remember Skye as a little girl who appeared near the end of the first series.
(If you are a Jane O’Brien fan, I know that you aren’t even going to bother to read this review- you are too busy reading the book. You know it’s going to be amazing!)
But, for those of you who may not be familiar with this series, let’s get you started. In the first series, two sisters from our current time accidentally slip back in time to the mid-1800’s. They find love and plenty of adventures. As the series continued, a few other family members slipped back in time, too. But they went back to their correct years.
It was Skye’s parents who made a short trip back in time, and then returned to their present. But now it’s 2051 and life has grown increasingly more authoritarian and restrictive. For the sake of their children, Skye and Cade, they decided to go back and live safely in the past. Skye was only five years old when they traveled back.
And now as the book begins, Skye is a young adult- feisty, beautiful and ready to spread her wings. She has a vague idea that something is different about her life, and she doesn’t give up until she learns how to time slip. She thinks it will be exciting to learn more about her family and explore different times.
What she doesn’t count on, is that the government of 2051 is committed to finding anyone who has escaped the regime. Remington Hart is the handsome, and serious agent who is in charge of finding people like Skye and her family. What happens when they meet in a different time period?
Love, adventure, romance, science fiction, history- Author O’Brien wonderfully blends it all. “Skye” will intrigue and fascinate you and raise your pulse dramatically. Jane O’Brien knows how to weave intense passion into every time period. The wait is over- time to enjoy “Skye”.
I received an advance digital review copy from the author. This is my honest review.
