Loved it!
Holly (librarian, sex goddess) is breaking free from her boring, sheltered life, now that she's divorced her cheating ex. She buys a new dress and goes out dancing. Mason (mob guy, former whore, kills people) sees a siren dancing and he's got to have her. Of course, he has a techy track down her every detail and starts stalking her until she gives in. Thank the sweet lord, Holly doesn't make us wait before she's ready to ride the Big D. This woman doesn't play the sweet, pearl clenching female, afraid of her own shadow. No siree bob! She takes that bull by the horns and rides him into glory!!!! They have a lot of naughty sex, in all sorts of places.
The ex shows back up but Mason is having none of that.
This one is short and sweet. There's never any OW with our hero. That's typical of all SC books. The hero only ever has eyes for his lady love. I wished there had been more drama, but it's ok that there's not. I wish Mason had done a better job of professing his love instead of just proposing while she's vomiting. LOL Can't win them all.
The sex was hot and Holly was strong. She's the hero of this story.

Wow, I didn't expect to like this book this much.
I wanted more of them in the end. It would have been nice for this to be actually a full novel. I'm greedy these days, it seems 😅.
I absolutely despised her ex-husband. What a piece of work he was. Sadly, people like that do exist, and it makes me sad ... for their other half, obviously.
Even though it's a novella, their relationship journey is complete, with a good epilogue down the years.
I'll definitely try some other books by this author. 🖤🖤

The rhythm of the night
This one is all about the romance. The author took us out of her comfort zone and instead of making the enemy and the emotional angst the center of attention, she focused on the characters second chance at love. From a vision across the dance floor to a confrontation with a smarmy ex, this couple absolutely captivated me. I enjoyed watching their love blossom and the HEA was perfect for the two of them.

This story King's Trophy by Sam Crescent is all about romance. Mason is 45 years young and bored. He owns the city, has many businesses and lots of people are afraid of him. He has everything he wants, except the right woman. He is sitting in one of his night clubs having a drink and a woman appears on the dance floor. She is in a beautiful red dress that fits her like a glove and has all the attention of Mason and the other men in the club. She is dancing by herself, her eyes closed for her own enjoyment. She has only been divorced for a few months, her ex never took her out dancing and she always wanted to go. He was an unfaithful man throughout their marriage. After dancing she disappears and Mason tries to find out who she is, but no one seems to know. With help from one of Mason's men information is found out about her. Holly is divorced and 30 years of age. He knows where she lives and works. Mason goes to the library to introduce himself to Holly. He doesn't tell her what line of work he is in. Mason only asks her out to dinner. She is hesitant about accepting, because she doesn't know him. They go to dinner and Mason's plan is to make Holly his.
Things start to get HOT as they get to know each other. This is a steamy romance and I loved it.

This is a great story, with a lovely romance dominating the plot, but I feel this story would have been much better written from two POVs. With a story that depends on the two MCs to carry it along sometimes the two POVs just works better for the reader, gives the story more depth.
Here there is a lack of depth in a rather wishy washy backstory of Mason's gangster life. As it stands there's very little for the reader to grab onto concerning Mason apart from his insta attraction and obsession with Holly. I also think that using his point of view, to see through his eyes, may have improved my opinion of him.
The same goes for Holly. While we understand she was caught in a loveless marriage I was thinking all the way through that she was so stupid (and not liking her for it) for not asking questions about Mason or understanding the risks life with him would bring, only to find out near the end she knew all along. This revelation didn't improve my opinion of her, but if her POV had been given from the start I may have understood her and appreciated more why she allowed the relationship with Mason to continue.
Now bear in mind this is just my opinion. I enjoy the intimacy of two POVs in romance novels. You may hate it. As I said at the start this is a great story and a lovely romance. Sam Crescent has been hit or miss for me over the past couple years but glad that I tried this one out. Mason was a surprisingly decent MMC given that he supposed to be this horrible person that so many ppl are afraid of. Can't tell if this is because we hardly see any of life outside of his interactions with Holly. It was good in a way because it focused solely on the romance and their relationship but I felt disconnected from the overall story...maybe I'm just a nosey bitch but I wanted all the background info on both characters! Only one thing really baffled me and I don't know if anyone else found it odd but

King's Trophy by Sam Crescent is a different approach to romance then what we normally have seen from Sam. Of course we have the powerful, older Mason. He is the "king" of the unnamed city he lives in...some elements of violent mafia & some elements of a smart, wealthy business owner... The story is not a really a mafia romance. Holly - is the divorced, 30 yr old librarian - that is finally living life on her own terms. She had a cheating ex she is rid of. She knows what she wants. One Friday Night after work, she walks past a beautiful red dress displayed in a store and decides she wants it. She buys it for herself, wearing it - walking out of the store. She immediately knows she wants to go dancing in it. She goes to a nightclub that Mason owns. Holly is dancing for her own enjoyment on the dance floor and Mason is captivated by her. She leaves before Mason knows her name. Thru his illegal contacts & searches, he finds out her name and basically her life info. Mason introduces himself at her work and it is whirlwind after that!! Sam doesn’t disappoint in her sïzzïngly sëx scënës between Mason & Holly... 😏🔥🥵 Mason shows Holly what type of amazing sëx she was missing out on with her crappy ex, he supports her & her job, he loves her. Going Dancing is something that she was never allowed to do, she didn’t know that she had caught the eye of Mason King and is now his new obsession. But this is a man who has a lot of secrets, how will she react when she learns the truth, or has she known the truth all along?
Mason King is bored with what life is offering, he has money, power, and could have any woman he wanted with the click of his fingers. Venturing in to his club watching the crowd he spots a woman that takes his breath away, it’s a reaction he’s never had to any woman before, but in the blink of an eye she is gone. He knows he needs to find her and when he does he won’t lose her again. After getting all the information he needs he sets off to claim the woman in red, will she fall for his charms after what her ex husband did or is he fighting a losing battle?

Mason has everything so to speak lots of money, women at his beck & call, but he didn’t always have it like that he grew up scrapping to make it through and living in the trenches clawing his way to the top now at the top it is a little lonely. Holly a divorced newly divorced librarian boy you want to give her a hug with all she has been through abusive, lonely, cheater jerk of a husband, she is finally free from it all and she is finally free from it all trying to live her best life going out to the club for some dancing without knowing that one act will change her path. Mason freaks out when he loses her but not to worry he uses a contact to help him find his girl meeting her at her company instant attraction from the moment they meet and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored she wants something short term and he wants long term or a better way of putting he gets or takes what he wants she happens to be what he wants long term but can he convince her to take a chance on love again, can he convince her to take a chance on men proving that not men are like her ex., will she allow herself to love again, to accept love at face value, and can they find happiness together?.

Eh it was nice enough but boring. Because it was so boring I’m going to give spoilers for myself so I can remember I read this book. The 45 year old MMC is bored with his life, even with his life as a criminal king pin. He seethe 30year old FMC one night in his club in the typical sexy red dress. One thing leads to another and they end up together. The MMC is afraid the FMC will find out about his life in crime and the FMC is dumb enough to fall in love with the MMC after only one month. The story has a few steamy scenes that were quite tame for the author. The FMC is then told something about the MMC’s business reputation and she goes and tells the MMC she already knew, that all she cared about was him. Kiss, kiss, kiss, epilogue and the end.
Nothing interesting happened here. The MMC was a simp IMO. Nothing to invest in. Just nothing. It was a nice lite read. It could be a palate cleanser if you need something with no feelings and no drama. I’m sure it can work for someone. Good luck.

King's Trophy isn't my favorite book I've read from this author this year.
When it comes to Sam Crescent's books, I'm used to a little drama, maybe a little bit of issues arising between the main characters. But there really wasn't anything in this book.
It all seemed a bit neatly wrapped up and tame compared to what I'm used to with this author.
Mason's life is all about fear and death it seems. But when he meets Holly he wants to make her fall in love with him before he tells her the truth about who he is. As if a woman can't do a bit of research on her own. *rolls eyes*
Holly was an okay female character. She was a bit too unsettled and wishy washy for my liking. She's constantly on about how she doesn't want marriage or a relationship again after her loveless marriage. However, she sure is quick to fall in love with Mason. It's all rather annoying when she's harping on herself constantly about not falling for another man.

OMG! I absolutely loved this standalone read. It was scorching hot in all the right ways! Holly Allen is recently divorced from her cheating ex and ready to move on with her life. Mason Campbell, known and feared by many as the king of the city takes one look at Holly and he has to have her, but he wants his life of danger to not touch her in any way. He knows his little librarian Holly is his everything, he wants a lifetime with her and he does not want to lose her but her interfering ex has other ideas. Their chemistry is scorching, so hot and sexy. Mason is definitely a new book boyfriend favourite. I really fell in love with his character. Sam yet again has delivered a wonderful read that I for one did not want to end. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of their story and hope that you will too. Happy Reading!

Holly Allan is finally letting go. Her marriage of 10yrs was over and she is finally going to live a little. She certainly didn’t expect to be noticed in a club. Mason Campbell was a man of power. When he spots a sexy red dress and a goddess dancing, he needs to know who she is. Holly is just a librarian moving forward in life. She has a wild side and Mason is the one that unlocks it. Her ex-husband William is a piece of work. I love that Holly was a woman that knew her own mind and body. Yes she may have worked in a library but she was no fool. Mason was the one with the shock. He never expected to find the love of his life. And he was protective of her. I do love stories like this. Regardless of his “job” Mason always kept Holly safe. And Holly found a man that was worthy of her.

The title is slightly misleading. Mason never considers Holly a "trophy". He is intrigued by her the first moment he sees her dancing in his club. Although he wasn't looking for a long-term relationship, he didn't want it to be just a one-night stand.
Going to Mason's club was a whim. Newly released from a 10-year marriage, Holly decides to experience something she never had with her husband. She is pretty quick to fall for Mason's seduction but only expects it to be a one-night stand.
For being a criminal, Mason seems like a pretty nice guy. You might think Holly is naive and unaware of the truth about Mason, however, she is not quite so oblivious.
The relationship between Holly and Mason is nice and definitely steamy, there isn't anything really dramatic about the story.

I love the writing style of Sam Crescent. She brings such amazing stories to life. This book did not disappoint in her story telling. The characters were complex and had such scorching hot chemistry. The world she created was exciting, and enticing. This is a dark romance and it was a page turning adventure of heat and action.

Mason and Holly's relationship is hot and steamy right from the very beginning, and it doesn't stop. I enjoyed how Mason is the one "chasing" down Holly. There was a little action and violence in the story. I didn't think there was much suspense, nothing to keep me on the edge of my seat. I didn't feel much of a connection to the characters in this story, I don't know why, but it just wasn't there for me. Usually, I am glued to this authors stories and will read them in one sitting, but not this one. It is not a bad read, but just wasn't as addicting as I find most of the other stories by this author.

The FMC in this story is no damsel in distress. She knows her own mind and does what she wants to do. The MMC might be a bit stalker-ish at the start but it just shows that he did really want her. His small gestures of love, thinking of her always and caring for her, giving her a choice and not controlling her life, all those things and many more made him endearing as the hero of the story.

Sam Crescent is a new author to me and I absolutely loved reading this story. Mason and Holly are really great characters. Mason is bored with his life until a beautifully captivating woman in a red dress gets his attention. Holly's is freshly divorced and I felt really sorry for her, but then the amazing connection between Mason and Holly happens and then I felt really happy for her. After her previous relationship, Holly deserves to be happy. And boy does Mason make her happy. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to read this book.

Sam Crescent delivers yet another fantastic read with Holly & Mason's story. She's just come out of a crap marriage & doesn't trust men after her ex cheated. He's bored with his life even though he has everything. Seeing her at one of his clubs attraction flares & he wants this gorgeous woman. Can he convince her to give their attraction a chance or will his dark life & her vengeful ex destroy any chance? If you romance that has darkness, age gap & mafia then look no further.

Loved it!!
This is a great book! I really loved their romance and story. They fit perfectly together. I have no complaints about the book. It gave me all the good feels and none of the bad ones. I highly recommend it. Its definitely passionate and loving. Easy and lighthearted to read. Fast paced and doesn't hold on to anything negative. Absolutely complete happy ending and ever after. Great time jump epilogue. Would read again and definitely want to check out other books from this author. Thank you Sam 😃. This was exactly the book I needed right now ❤.

Mason Campbell and Holly Allan is just about as opposite as you can get. He's the King if the city, powerful, possessive and loyal. She's the librarian with a but of a wild streak who's just out of a marriage that shouldn't have lasted as long as it did. Their meeting is unexpected as is the chemistry felt between them. But Mason knows from the start that she'll be his Trophy, the Jewel in this Kings crown. They have their little bumps but it'll take a lot more than that to come between these two. Not even that despicable ex of Hollys.

This was such a great romantic story that brings us into the lives of Holly, divorcee, and Mason, MC pres...and bored alpha. On a whim, Holly bought a beautiful red dress, went to a bar and danced for herself. Mason, owner of said bar, could not take his eyes off of her ;) He worked at tracking her down and set about wooing her. He did put some of his men around her life to keep her safe from his enemies, but that was all part of his wooing. This definitely is an MC light story. Instead, this author took us on a wonderful journey that led to Mason and Holly's HEA. Well done!

OMG! Wow, I am absolutely breathless, hot, and in love with the two main characters she has gone through so much and all he wants to do is nurture her. The first time Mason sees her he needs her, he is a a King to the people in town a monster at best. Can Holly love again after her cheating ex-husband, she doesn't go out with men any more. This was an exhilarating book, it is so worth reading.

This book is definitely a departure from the Sam Crescent books I have read. It’s a sweet sweet sensual departure that I love! I want to see more books like this from her. Mason was a typical bad guy that went and fell in love with the good girl in such of short time of meeting her. The drama was low key but added to the story. Holly and Mason’s love story was told with such steaminess. I don't want to give away the story line but it’s delicious and worth the read.

Holly has just divorced her cheating husband and decided to do the things that she's always wanted to do. She becomes the woman in red at a downtown club and catches the attention of Mason. I loved the storyline that has some drama, no cheating, and lots of heat. I loved the characters of Mason and Holly and the journey they take to their HEA. The King has found his Queen and he's not letting her go. Sweet Story.

I loved this one! I loved how the characters came together. I loved how she was bound to be her own woman and break out on her own after being married to a man who could not love her the way she deserved, but I also loved how he refused to give up and walk away no matter how many times she told him she wasn’t looking for a man. He knew there was something there between them and he persisted no matter what, the story was great and the ending was really well put together. I can’t wait to read another one.
