You might think my midlife adventures couldn't get any wilder. But you would be wrong...
Buckle up. You're in for a ride! One minute, Stella and I are getting matching BFF tattoos, and the next, I wake up alone on a secluded beach.
Not exactly the relaxing getaway I had in mind.
As it turns out, I'm on Obsidian Isle, a mystical rock in the middle of nowhere. Magic here? It's a hot mess, like my hormones or my first attempt at a soufflé. But as they say, when life gives you broken magic, you... trek through a jungle to find your best friend! I was expecting to find Stella in a mess of bugs and thorny vines. Instead, I discover a group of people who've been lost on this island for decades.
If only that's where the oddities ended.
And reuniting with Stella isn't all fruity drinks and beautiful sunsets. Before we know it, we're facing off with demons and negotiating with trolls just to find food, all the while dodging the Tainted witch, Lyra.
Grab your broomstick -- or at the very least, a sturdy walking stick -- and join us on this magical rollercoaster. Can we escape this enchanting mess and get back to reality? Well, probably. But where's the fun in that?
While I have mostly loved all of the books in this series this one left me feeling cheated and confused. Such a mish-mash of one overly worded disaster after another. This book felt like a thesaurus of recycled and heavily repetitive calamities and a total contradiction of whether Stella and Phoebe had powers or didn’t have powers. Hopefully the next book will be more in line and congruent with previous story lines.
Phoebe is having a look see at her babies when it's discovered that instead of twins she's having triplets. After the revelation she and Stella head to a tattoo shop for matching tatts. Only when they are being tattooed the ink sends them to Obsidian Isle, a mystical rock in the middle of nowhere that is ruled by Lyra a tainted witch. Only she is separated from Stella and now she's trying to find her only to discover the dangers that not only the beach she found herself on but the forest has deadly things attacking her. Her magic is on the fritz, it works sometimes then other times it doesn't. She meets another, as she learns, prisoner of Lyra named Lorelei.. She learns some interesting things about the island and that Stella may be stuck in an encampment that changes the beings in it. So she's off to rescue her. There she manages to reunite with her and they find someone else, Kat, a demigod, who's been there for decades. Now they are combining forces to find a way to destroy the island and get out of there. Will they be able to return home? Do their families even realize they are gone? A fast action adventure with magic and sheer grit and determination!!.

Island of Horrors - Phoebe and Stella get way more than they bargained for when they decide to get matching tattoos to further their witchy bond. They got the brands and a mystical ride straight to he!! on earth that was not on the list of offerings. Thrown into a realm with the feel of Survivor, Phoebe, Stella and a motley crew of new friends battle Tainted witches, demons, creepy crabs, and more fantastically mean creatures to relieve the island of its dark energy and to get back home. There's never a dull moment with these ladies. This tale of magical misadventure is another great installment in the series, with a cameo by Hades (he's softening now that he gets to be a grampy) and a nod to Nylah (more relics coming her way).

Brenda Trim's 'Enchanted Tattoos and Lost Fools' is an exhilarating journey into a world where magic, mischief, and midlife adventures collide. The author weaves a spellbinding tale that takes unexpected twists from matching BFF tattoos to waking up on the mystical Obsidian Isle. The chaotic magic mirrors the protagonist's hormones, creating a humorous and engaging narrative. The exploration of the island, facing demons, and negotiating with trolls adds a thrilling element, while the quest to reunite with a friend unfolds with surprising depth. Trim's storytelling is both witty and enchanting, making this a must-read for those seeking a magical rollercoaster ride. Five stars for the perfect blend of humor, adventure, and the unexpected!.

This by far has got to be my most favourite books in this series. I have been waiting for it to come out and frankly, I loved every reading minute.
There is so much wrapped up into this new adventure of the BOF. There is so much action and twists throughout the story. Wow.
I also really enjoyed the internal dialogs the characters had and the verbal processing between themselves. Brenda Trim has created a character ensemble that every reader wants to be part of and have for themselves as their everyday friend group. The BOF has grown in number, maturity, skills and self confidence - perhaps every reader's secret wish.
BFF tattoos, an island, wonky magic, pregnancy, unexpected allies and an enemy that won't quit? Yes PuhLEEZE!
Spooky crazy island, random paranormals and demons, Wowzer! So much tension and drama!!! You could cut the air with a knife just reading all the twists and turns in this adventure! Evil, evil magic and a bit of hopelessness, a tropical paradise turned into a beautiful torture island. The path to the end is fraught with all sorts of bad juju, evil and a few bright moments/spots found within the evil... a lightness trying to win. Luckily the babies survive and unexpectedly help out a few times in a very surprising way! The ending is both tense and fun! Hades comes to help save the day and his reaction to Phoebe is so heart warming! So looking forward to the next adventure! Phoebe and Stella head out to get matching tattoos and end up a long way from home with no clue how to get back. As they fight their way across an island cursed with Lyra's dark magic, they make friends...and enemies. With no way to determine exactly where they are, they will have to depend on themselves and their new acquaintances to find their way back to their loved ones. First though, they have to break Lyra's hold on the island.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
This was a great read though a little darker than we normally expect. Phoebe and Stella want to get matching tattoos and end up with a dark and dangerous adventure instead! Stranded on Obsidian Isle, a mystical rock in the middle of nowhere, separated but not alone, they discover people who have been missing and lost for such a long time. Throw in dark magic, demons, trolls, witches and twists and turns galore, it’s a mess, it’s chaotic and it grabs you and takes you along for one hell of a ride.
Okay hold on I did not realize I needed a midlife mystic adventure in my life until I read this book. AND ITS BOOK 13!!!!!!
I’ll be honest, as much as I liked this book I’m not sure how I feel about 12 prior books (then again I do read SJM). I will be reading some of the prior works, unsure how many I will get through though.
With all that being said, let’s dive in.
The author kept me engaged from the first chapter. From the good news, to getting matching tattoos with your bestie, to the hunt to find your friend.
Talk about tension. This time, the characters were tricked by witches giving them tattoos and teleported to a hidden island with other paranormals, demons, and all sorts of strange creatures trying to kill them. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding the anchor of evil preventing all of them from using their powers adequately and escaping the island. This was done with lots of bloodshed and demons stalking them the whole way. I definitely highly recommend this adventure as well as the rest of them in the series.
It was meant to be a fun thing with her friend, but they are whisked off to a dangerous Island, which is going to challenge their skill of survival. Phoebe and Stella would normally have their powers to call on, but Lyra has nerfed their powers, and separated them. Can they survive? I loved this action packed story, their determination, the friends they make on the way and how it all played out.

Phoebe and Stella decided to get matching tattoos and ended up being transported to a magical island under the control of the Tainted Lyra. Fortunately, they managed to return home with the help of three magical beings and a repentant dark witch. This story is intense, and has plenty of action, romance, and steam, ending happily for now. Very highly recommended.

3.5 stars I love Brenda Trim and I absolutely love most of her series' but I was disappointed in this story. I expect a fun, light hearted story but this story missed that mark. I will continue to read Ms. Trim's books and this series because I am so invested so I'm hoping the next book will get back on track.

this had everything that I was hoping for from Mystical Midlife in Maine series, it had everything that I was hoping for from this series. The characters felt like they were supposed to in this world and had a great overall feel to it. Brenda Trim has a great writing style and does a great job in writing the characters and world. It left me wanting more in this series.

Enchanted Tattoos and Lost Fools is a magical mystical adventure. Main character Phoebe is interesting, and while not all of the book made sense to me, I suspect that’s because I have not read any of the other books in this series. I enjoyed the writing style, the adventure, and the mystery. Can’t go wrong when you throw witches, fae, gods, and more together. This was a fun read.

Enchanted Tattoos & Lost Fools (Midlife Mysteries & Magic Book 39) by Brenda Trim. Phoebe and Stella go to get tattoos and find themselves transported to a tropical island by the Tainted witch Lyra. Phoebe finds she is on her own so she must find Stella. Phoebe’s magic is muted and Stella’s is gone. As they fight to get off the island they gather 4 other people to them. They need to find how Lyra is controlling the island if they want to get home.
when unexpected elements work their way into tattoos for Phoebe and Stella, a survivor island type adventure ensues, with dark magic, colleagues and cohorts of various types and dubious affiliation, and some seriously twisted directions added for flavor
intense paranormal drama, action, fireworks and confusion
The book starts off with Clio the healer witch doing an ultrasound on Phoebe. OMG it is awesome. I’m not giving anything away and Hades & Persephone are nuts with wanting to be grandparents. Stella, Phoebe’s bestie, is excited and they tell their daughters it is a no go for them to join them to get tattooed. I had feelings about what was about to happen a lot in this book. I was totally right too. Lol. I thought they had gone thru freaky & crazy stuff before. I was chewing my nails down to the nibs again. Plus, my stomach was roiling a few times. I got nausea too. I spent half the book shaking my head no and muttering under my breath. I get way too into the books. Lol. I can’t wait for the next one.

Now while the characters were wonderful I found the story quite narrative and sometimes boring. I'm not sure what happened with book 13 but it feels like someone else wrote the book. I had a hard time getting through the story and put it down several times while reading. It took me a week to read when I normally read a Brenda Trim book in 2-3 days. Granted I'm dealing with a lot right now but I know I can rely on the author to pull into her books, I will sit quietly and read until done.
I'm sorry to the author but I was quite disappointed with book 13. I really hope the story gets back on track with the first 12 books.
I waited for this book to come out for so long because of the way the last one ended. Thank you Brenda Trim for once again providing an excellent adventure for Phoebe and Stella. It’s always a good day when they triumph over the tainted witches no matter the size of the triumph!!.

In general, this author is a definite “go-to” for excellent stories. But this one, although well-written, was a bit too negative and “evil” for my comfort and enjoyment. One bad thing after another was too relentless. I had to find myself agreeing with that last line in the blurb: “Can we escape this enchanting mess and get back to reality?“
Great story lots of twists and dark magic. Love the bond between Stella and Phoebe. Amazing how Phoebe gets everyone to join together and destroy the dark witches anchor.

This is a treacherous romp on Obsidian Isle which would be better named as Obstacle Island. Phoebe and Stella fight for their lives after magically transported there. The "dreadfire" was super cool but the country poop a nightmare. Inventive and twisted I enjoyed this book.
I absolutely love this series, the storyline is entertaining and the characters, dialogue is snarky and amusing. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
I knew the Tattoo idea was gonna be a mess. These characters can't catch a break! I love the adventures and friendships, but I get exhausted just reading about it all! I cannot wait to see what else the Fates have in store for them. I highly recommend this book/series and Author.
When enchanted tattoos take a bad turn Lyra is one tainted witch with a god complex. Phoebe and Stella's enchanted tattoos weren't all they were cracked up to be. This one is very fast-paced and dark. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
I was a little disappointed in this story in the series. There was just so much going on and in my mind I couldn't figure out why the characters got in this mess after all that has come before.
Brenda Trim has worked her magic on this latest installment of the series. The characters were entertaining and kept me coming back for more. I look forward to my next adventure with this author.
