Thank you so much to Zephyr / Head of Zeus and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Twins Lucy and Alpha are completely different in every way possible, they think differently, act differently and have different hobbies. When Lucy struggles with her mental health and stops going school and Alpha grows angrier by the minute being ignored by her family, one thing connects them a wolf cub called Claw at their mums rewilding program.

I really enjoyed this book it was wonderfully written and I loved reading the story from both twins perspectives it was so beautiful. Both girls had serious struggles and I really liked the way they were handled, Lucy with her anxiety, her self harm by hair plucking and Alpha with her anger that bubbled and bubbled inside her. The fact that the author managed to capture their issues but also include how they came about, how they tried to handle them and deal with them but didn’t always manage it. It was so very caringly and carefully thought out.

The twins were wonderful, both real humans that were flawed and just wanted things the way they used to be, the changes weren’t things they liked. I loved learning about their hobbies with Lucy being so into astronomy it great fun learning from her and then Alphas love of basketball and how she worked hard to be the best she could. These girls wanted so badly to have each other in their lives but a disconnect had formed and it took a big incident to bring them together again.

Claw was such a cute little terror, I loved that the girls both found a connection with him, in very different ways. I did feel really sad though that Claw didn’t like Alpha at all, I wished he could have liked her, given her a sparkle of hope, but that would have made the story very different. I felt bad for him being caged up the way he was, I was certainly seeing it more through Alpha’s perspective then Lucy’s. Though I don’t condone what Alpha did at all, but she was misguided and struggling with neglect and anger so in a fleeting moment did something she shouldn’t have but her conscience caught up to her luckily. I did like learning about Millicent and how she cared for the rewilded wolves and how smart they were, I loved how they searched for Claw it was so clever.

I really thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish, these girls were incredible, protagonists each so different, offering a different style to the story each chapter, you want to help them both so badly to figure things out, get their family to listen. I loved the way the story progressed and the major character developments we got, you root so badly for them both in different ways and it was a beautiful story with a beautiful ending.

There are so many things to learn within this book, so many different facts available which is always great. Most facts you learn just by being engrossed in the story, but this also provides you with extra fun facts at the end which I always enjoy reading and learning from.

Alpha and Lucy are the Wonder Twins - well they were. But Mum and Dad have divorced and they have moved with Mum to Grandad's house, so that Mum is closer to her new job on a rewilding reserve.
The girls have to get a bus ride to school. But Lucy hasn't been to school for a while. Not since that day, the day she felt Alpha was moving away from her. The day that she hasn't told Mum or Dad about.
Mum's rewilding reserve has a wolf rewilding scheme, they have a cub, Claw, who takes an immediate like to Lucy. Alpha isn't happy, everything is about Lucy!
Alpha's 'friend' Vern thinks of a plan to help her get back at Mum and Lucy, pretty sure she knows this plan isn't nice - but she goes along with it anyway.
But it doesn't go well - and finally Alpha stands up for Lucy, and up to Vern (and a particularly unpleasant teacher). After which she tries to put things right, but again things don't go well but she is found and so is....
Lucy finally explains what happened to her. Whilst Alpha goes back to their old school, Lucy starts again at the local school with their new friend Janus.
Really enjoyed this book which was kindly donated to our school by the author.

This story was so magical. I love how the plot ties 2 subjects into one; wolves and astronomy.

The way the author explains the stars is so fascinating to read and learn about. The way she explains how every star is a combination of science so everything has its place and meaning. How the girls star sign in constellations maps out a somewhat outline of 2 people.
Then you have the wolves aswell and how they also link to the stars. I like how the author set it out to show how baby wolves develop with trust and nature and how the issue in the story happens with reason and that alpha knows it’s bad and does the right thing by saving the cub.

1 thing I want to mention is that it’s written in an easier format to read. The book is aimed at teens and younger readers however anyone can enjoy it. Just be aware of the short sentences and direct descriptions.

Reading this was fun, and I always wanted to keep reading instead of putting it down. I’m not a typical fast reader but I recall reading 80 pages in one sitting for this book and that’s a record for me.

Whether your into astronomy or wolves, both or none, I will 100% recommend this book to anyone.

Alpha and Lucy are twins. Outwardly identical with distinctly different personalities. Lucy loves astrology..Alpha loves basketball. Once a close family unit, the twins’ parents have separated and ‘The Incident’ has driven the girls apart. Their Mum’s new job on a rewilding project working with wolves has meant a move to the countryside. Alpha is horrified by the move and she’s not talking to her estranged Dad. Lucy is delighted to be in the countryside and has formed a special relationship with their Grandfather. Since ‘The Incident’ she has been homeschooled..

This is a wonderful story which embraces many important themes - family, friendship, marital breakup… The plot involves school exclusion, home schooling, anxiety and self-harm as well as environmental themes with the re-wilding project. The author writes with great sensitivity and intuition and gently explores difficult issues, using the story as a powerful vehicle for emotional literacy. From personal and professional experience, I can really appreciate the relevance and accuracy of her insight.

Threaded through the story is some fascinating information about astrology, rewilding and wolves. Inspired by a real wolf rewilding project at Yellowstone National Park, there is a fascinating ‘Did you Know’ section at the back.

The author has a wonderful gift for characterisation. Middle grade readers will enjoy the interplay between the two siblings, the very different personalities and responses to circumstance. Added to this a wise, gentle and insightful Grandfather and a Mum who is trying to be the best Mum whilst working on a challenging new project.
Recommended for homes, libraries and schools!

‘Because I also feel as though I’ve lost a parent. He may be at the end of the phone, ready to pick up, saying, ‘Luce? How’s your day?’ but he’s not here in person, smelling of peppermint gum…’

‘…I would shout and yell and stomp. The unfairness of it all needed a noise. The noise made it better. Dad would put his hands next to my ears and make puffing sounds, pretending there was steam coming out of them.’

The Wolf Twins was a really enjoyable read! I loved the personalities of both Alpha and Lucy and how Ewa Jozefkowicz showcased their similarities and their differences. I found it a bit confusing at first when the names kept changing as the author used their nicknames interchangeably from the beginning. Alpha/Allie Lucy/Luce.

I loved how real life facts were embedded throughout the story and didn't feel too over explained, though they were definitely obvious. You can tell that the author is familiar with how twins can be in real life by the way she pens their moments of closeness and distance, as so frequently happens with twins who have quite different personalities. I definitely saw myself in the character Alpha as I too am an elder identical twin who is more physically oriented than my counterpart.

Some of the book was very predictable, however that tends to be the case as an adult reading a book aimed at middle schoolers. A great book overall and I will definitely be recommending it!

I received an ePub version as an ARC from NetGalley in return for a review

Siblings ought to be close together, and ought to be there for each other. But what if siblings aren't alike? Everyone thinks that siblings are similar not only in their looks but also in their personalities. What if twins are so different that they fall apart from each other? What can bring them back together? How to keep a broken family in one piece? Is it even possible?
This lovely story asks many questions about family, friendship, and what it takes to hold it together. The beautiful nature plot entangled within helps both the twins and the reader better understand the important values of family and mental health. This will be greatly appreciated by many readers.

A lovely book about change , the struggles of life and how often it is difficult to deal with. This book feels real and genuine, the characters are folks you could identify with and like in real life. The reactions from the children were quite different, some sad, some understanding and relating to the twins, but all enjoyed the book. Like all of the best books, the themes in this story led to many discussions about their own lives and concerns.

What a lovely read! Lucy and Alpha are 2 very different twins who have more in common than they realise. During the course of the story, both have to make difficult decisions that have consequences. The story is told from the point of view of both twins and it's lovely to see how much they need each other even if they pretend they don't. The story focuses on the rewilding of wolves and would make for a good discussion in a class.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. The way the author has included astronomy in it amazes me and the characteristic of both twins making them so different but the same makes me happy.

Though this book was a bit young for me, i enjoyed it never the less and it honestly gave me a new outlook on some things within life.

When an author writes a book based on their own experiences you know it is very likely to be eventful, after all eventful real-life experiences do make the best stories! The basis for Ewa Jozefkowicz’s sixth novel is personal experience. It is being the mother of twins which inspired her to write The Wolf Twins. This is the story of twins, but it is also a story which celebrates the healing power of nature, reminding us to listen to the wildness that lives inside us all and which can be good for us. It also explores changes in circumstances that can upend our lives and turn all that we thought we knew on its head. Its powerful but it is also gentle, perfectly pitched to its reader allowing them to explore these ideas in a safe and reassuring story. It is a tale that positively brims with magic, and I love the dual point of view that Ewa Jozefkowicz gives, ensuring each of the twins has a voice.

Once Lucy and Alpha were the wonder twins, they were as two hearts that beat with such synchronicity that they were as one. But a new job for mum means that they have to move to the forest for she is going to rewilding wolves. Lucy loves the move, discovering that she loves being close to nature. Alpha on the other hand wants to follow her basketball dreams and chase the glory that could come with them. The once inseparable twins who were thick of thieves have become more like distant universes, drifting ever further apart until, that is, a new wolf cub arrives at the centre where mum works. Lucy names him Claw. They soon form a bond, a very special bond. But Alpha disagrees with Lucy, believing Claw should be allowed to roam free, plotting a scheme to release him back into the wild. This causes more upset than she could have imagined, the twins will have to rediscover their wonder.
