Hell hath no fury like a demon psycho scorned. The first thing you should know about me is I’m completely cuckoo. A hundred years ago, a monster of abusive proportions killed my fated mates. And me. Don’t ask how I’ve been reborn. All I know is I still have my memories, my rage, and the power to make blood boil in someone’s veins. Both literally and because I’m a sarcastic little sh!t. Emlyn, Malakai, and Harveil held me together, and without them, I’ve hit breaking point. Probably when I stole that porcupine demon’s quills and made them into a tiara. (Looks cute; tragically impractical.) But in positive news, my insanity helped me become Lucifer’s best assassin. Now, I spend my days taking out Hell’s enemies and scouring every forsaken city for my mates. Because if I've been reincarnated, they have too. And someone thought it was a good idea to keep me from the men I love. Hellborn Angel is a paranormal romance with psycho men, a ruthless revenge-driven FMC, twisted romance, and lots and lots of bloodlust. Deadly archdemons, cutting sarcasm, epic reborn lovers, and gruesome murders fill these pages, so get ready to laugh, cringe, and swoon. This book is medium burn and set in the same world as Lili Kazana - but this series stands completely separate.
Leigh Kelsey is the author of romance and reverse harem books for anyone with a soft spot for steely women and the tortured men who love them. No matter what stories she's writing - vampires or shifters or bad boys - they all share a common thread of love, heart, and action. She is the author of the Lili Kazana series, the Moonlight Inn series, the Dead Space stand alone, and the Blacktower Prison for Supernaturals series, plus many more books.
*RH *Paranormal *Mainly FMC POV *fated mates *demons *rebirth *stabby FMC *established harem (4?) *fast burn 🔥 *1/3 Great start! Kelsey really knows how to write the murderously stabby and sarcastic FMC and our Halwen is a perfect addition! Sent after a target she is most disappointed to discover she can’t physically kill them as they happened to be her mates…despite how much she wants to and her numerous attempts 😂😂 Once it’s revealed who and why the person wants one of her mates she does all she can to protect them, even though their surly possessive and aggressive alpha men of their own 😆yet that might just not be enough…how they get reborn is just 😢 I really really hope Haley can put the pieces together and figure out what is going on, especially as I fear time may not be on her side of her mates! Especially with that weirdo claiming to be who he is 😬😬 This is very cleverly written in the three parts, and when you see how the blurb connects with the storyline….wow it’s a twist - especially with the POV change at the end!! Really looking forward to the next one 😄
DNF 69% This book is... Complicated. The first half of the book is nowhere in the write up, but I actually enjoyed that part the most. That's where we get to see the fated mates, the romance and loyalty, etc. After she comes back from the dead things kind of just... Unravel. She's constantly getting her ass kicked, despite all of the hand outs she gets. She's basically non stop making snarky impotent threats to everyone that she physically can't back up. It gets old really really fast. She can't remember anything about one of her mates, which is super annoying but also slightly intriguing as to where that's going.
I really disliked the lack of world building. I have no idea what kind of demon world this is. She makes reference of being half demon half angel, but it's mentioned almost like we should already know that and know that it means.
There are lots of different demons depicted but nothing of the social structure or history. Nothing of the nature or hierarchy, which left me falling back on details from other demon type books and then having to shake those off when there's a contradiction. It was irritating and totally avoidable.
I would not call this a steamy romance because there's actually nothing illicit until maybe 60% or so and even then, it's pretty blah.
I found myself speeding through the pages just trying to get to the actual unraveling so I decided to call it quits. There are so many 5 star reviews for this book but I just found it really annoying.
I did like the guys she had and for the most part I did like her, though she gets pretty annoying when she can't back up her mouth.
Quite frankly I find myself comparing her to Debra Dunbar's demon and finding her severely lacking.
Here we go. Leigh Kelsey is ready for readers to meet her next batch of psycho guys and even deadlier girls in Hellborn Angel. The first book in the Kissed by Brimstone series was a helluva read. Dark and twisty, surrounded by mystery and full of the crazy.
Speaking of crazy. Halwen (aka Haley, and no I don't understand how that's a nickname) matches her guys, crazy for crazy. She's an mercenary who embraced her darkness and takes crazy risks. She's a little rough around the edges but when she likes you she has a softer side. I like her sarcasm, her humor, and her loyalty, and while she leans more towards the black on the morals scale she isn't horrible. She does what she needs to do to survive.
Surprisingly enough I think Haley is darker than the guys, okay not Kai, he and Haley are on the same level of sarcasm, darkness, and crazy, plus they have a good banter going on. But Em, Harvey, and Wane, not so much. My favorite thing about Kai, besides the fact that he's crazy, he's the closet romantic, there were a few touching moments between him and Haley. Wane is the sweet and sensitive one who was broken long ago but he tries. He gives off strong adorable puppy vibes that I just wanna protect. Harvey kinda breaks my heart too. After everything he's been through Harvey still manages to have this playful light. Finally, Em is the strong and silent type. Very family oriented and protective. He corrals the crazy. Through all the differences they fit together as a family.
The theme of this book is "What the F is happening ", I mean seriously what the F?? I am so confused but at least I'm enjoying it. People are coming back from the dead and Lucifer (you know the ruler of Hell) doesn't know what is going on, he has zero answers but side note seems like a cool guy. There are stolen memories, magical tattoos, cage fights, and curses to contend with. Not to mention the whole villain situation is messed up. In the beginning, there was a bad guy, truly evil but then he's out of the picture (or is he?) and now there's a new bad guy and something weird is going on there but I can't figure it out.
My head is going to explode. The plot is pure chaos and I love it because anything can happen at any moment. Readers were left with far too many open questions and by the end of Hellborn Angel I can't tell the top from the bottom, everything is twisted. I need answers. I need the next book.
Honestly, I don't have a ton nice to say so I won't say much. This book was not for me at all. The fake badass heroine, the time jump ten years to just skip any kind of relationship or character building, and a chaotic plot that was barely there.
"Hellborn Angel" is the start of the "Kissed by Brimstone" series, a paranormal RH series that will be rapidly released in the coming months. I have to admit I was a little confused at the start of this story, because the blurb is based on the second part of the book. If you haven't read the blurb before starting this book it probably won't really matter, but because I did right before starting I got a little lost at first. That being said: the first part of this story does matter to fully understand everything that's coming next. It's quite intriguing for once to know more than the fmc about the past, and still constantly wonder what exactly is going on.
"Hellborn Angel" is one of those books where it pays of to pay close attention to everything that's happening. Its plot development comes with a lot of questions and unknowns, and the world development adds to that. It creates an intricate and fascinating storyline, with some interesting characters I would love to know more about. Halwen is one of those quick-witted fmc's who uses sarcasm in the best ways, and even though she thinks she has nothing to offer in a relationship her mates fall head over heels for her. Until tragedy strikes, and heartbreak follows. This first book is mostly single POV, but I'm really hoping for more from the men in the next books, especially Kai and Wane.
There are some twists and turns in this first book, but something tells me a lot more of those are coming and I can't wait to really unravel this story and the role all these characters play in it. Luckily the next book will come out real soon!
I absolutely loved this story about Halwen and her mates. She found she had mates unexpectedly. One minute she was fighting them, the next they declared that they were her mates. Years passed and they and they were being pursued by a psychopath who eventually killed them all. A hundred years later Halwen dug herself out of her grave. She soon found herself before Lucifer who tasked her with eliminating wayward alphas whilst she was still looking for her mates. She finds them but they are wild and being held captive. They have been fighting in a pit and have no idea who they used to be or who she is. A man claiming to be another of her mates is holding them hostage. He agreed to let them go if she steal a magical tiara from Lucifer. But like most demons, he lied.
Well this book was a refreshingly different RH romance. Assassin Halwen (FMC) is definitely off her rocker but to be fair that's to be expected when your mates die and you wake up having to dig yourself out of your own grave after you've been dead for over 100 years!!! That might anyone lose their mind, lol. This book certainly changed the RH mates romance on its head and basically starts to pick up after Halwen's happy ending should have finished but in fact it's where it starts. Halwen is a cracking character though. Bloodthirsty as hell but full of wit and sarcasm that had me laughing, Flaming hell that cliff-hanger ending was epic! I just loved it.
That was seriously one of the craziest books I’ve ever read. I loved the fact that there were so many twists that I didn’t see coming, and the fact that the story is everywhere- but in a good way lol. I was hooked from the start, and honestly very confused half the time but I was so consumed that I couldn’t put it down! The time jumps were a little confusing though. In the prologue it said two hundred years, but in the story it only said one. So I’m assuming that there will be at least one more time jump. Either way, Hales and her mates have one very crazy adventure ahead of them and I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes!
This book is an amazing read that will grab you and keep you reading from beginning to end. You will not be able to put it down until the last page is read and then you are wanting more. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for this story, speeding up and slowing down when needed. The characters are amazing and no matter what happens you will love them. This book is a must read that needs to be on your TBR list, you will not be sorry that you did.
Great Read! This book grabbed my attention from the start, with an interesting storyline and moved at a steady pace. There was action, humor, mates, and spice. It was also full of lots of emtions. More than I expected, but definitely good. I loved Halwen. I loved her crazy and just being herself. Kai, Wane, Harvey, and Emlyn were her mates. I loved each of them as well. I think this was a great start to the series!
The premise was intriguing. I don't know how I feel about the "prologue" considering it was half of the first book. Also I'm confused about the villain because the reason behind the love/hate relationship is unclear which makes her motivation unclear. I'm looking forward to book 2 which will hopefully be more linear and provide greater insight into what is going on.
Hooked me in from the beginning, love the storyline. Halwen and her mates are so suited to each other in different ways , but I have to say I love malakai physco that he is. I didn’t want to stop reading when I started, it was interesting and great read all the way through but I wasn’t prepared for how it ended I was so engrossed and didn’t realise I was at the end. I can not wait to the next book ! I loved how lili was in it too !
This is the first book in the Kissed by Brimstone series. It introduces Haley and her guys. This is a dark read filled with twists, intrigue, and emotion. I am really liking this cast of characters, Haley is witty with humor and sarcasm. The story is fast paced and engaging, and I can't wait for the next book.
The cliff hanger at the end MADE this book. So overall this is really fast pace, and I was a bit confused in the beginning because the first 1/2 of this book is nothing like the description. But after that, nothing I expected to happen actually happened so it was all unpredictable which is great! And the ending made me immediately need to read book 2
Within chapters of starting the book, within minutes of them finding eachother, we jump 10 years forward and then 100 years forward. No development or even summary of how they came to be real close. It’s a bit off putting. Interested to see where the rest of the story goes and how the rest is written.
I loved this book. The story was refreshing. They had true love for each other. But some is always causing trouble. They fight for each other. This is awesome
Ok love the author. This is the third series I’ve read of hers. I loved the characters from Lilian’s story being a part of this. I was a little confused about a few things and then the end hits and OMG. Starting. Book 2 immediately lol
The endless footnotes got old fast. They could very easily have been brackets. Otherwise, it was steamy, setting a bit underdeveloped, and story hopping from one smutty scene to another. Questionable consent.
Thus, the story has so many twists and turns that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. You can't help but love the characters and cheer them on. I, for one, can't wait to see what happens next
Talk about edge of your seat book. I love Halwen- she is awesome, and her 2 mates dad is one crazy demon! I would definitely recommend this to read. I’m off to get the next one!
I'm not sure exactly what is off with this read. I feel that all of the ingredients are there but didn't mesh like L.K. books normally do. Hmm. Either way; Happy Reading
I’ve waited months for this series to finally complete. I absolutely love anything by Leigh Kelsey. I think I’ve been blown away so far with this amazing start. Not only is it different but it’s one that has you on edge. Talk about plot twists and surprises.
This was definitely a different take on the idea of demons and angels. It's nice seeing a whole new type of world building and not being able to immediately predict what's coming up next in the storyline
DNF 81% I really tried to finish this book because some of it was enjoyable but I just couldn't with Halwen anymore. Won't spoil anything - other 2* reviews mirror my own thoughts anyway. This just isn't for me anymore.
