Peter Flannery lives in a small village in the Scottish Borders with his wife and two young boys. In the summer he fights a war of attrition with the weeds in his vegetable patch. On winter nights he likes to drag his telescope into public places where he can accost complete strangers with a quick view of the heavens. And, if his garden were longer, he would be out there practising archery with his Black Douglas field bow (neighbours and stray cats beware!).
After leaving school he studied art and design before changing tack completely to work in forestry. However, an accident at work left him with a broken neck and (after a year convalescing) he moved into the somewhat less hazardous world of horticulture. He spent several years in the company of plants before switching again to set himself up as a sculptor working for the toy industry.
A design studio in Edinburgh provided the opportunity to move from sculpting to writing and he became the lead writer for Target Games UK Ltd. He produced a host short stories, novellas and background material to support the company’s products and his credits include: The Land of Two Rivers, The Sons of Kronos, The Fallen Land and the Dwarven Labyrinth each of which was translated into seven languages.
He is now an independent writer working on a range of titles for both adults and children. First and Only is his first published novel.
