Trust is a valuable commodity and Nico has very little of it to spare.
Discovering the condition of other dragons in the empire rocked Nico.
Now he has to decide how to respond. It it time to spread his wings and fly or will Nico double down and learn the power these humans have to teach him.
It isn't really trust when both sides are trying to use the other.
I really liked the first book and aspects of this one. Especially Cami and Niko. I liked his funny pride as a dragon but still dense as hell and pretty innocently cocky. It really drags on, however, with the whole forgive me forgive us, what can I do, I’m a dragon and you can’t stand against me; let’s work together. That same dumb theme just spins around and around, redundant, rehashing the same problem until I get to hate this stupid dragon
I really want to like this series however I can only take so much "stupid human" stuff. We get it, dragons apparently consider themselves better than everything else. The main character is okay, but he’s so arrogant that he’s almost to the point of being unlikable. I made it through half of the second book before I couldn’t take anymore, main character is too much of an ass.
The main character is just too much of a dickhead to be likeable, not only that he isnt that smart, but he sure thinks he is, just ask him. Also, he keeps blaming the adventures for enslaving his sister, even though he knows their goddess approved the mission, but, never says anything to her about it. Also he knows, as well as the adventures, that the emperor has his sister, yet no effort is made to even attempt to free her. Instead he accepts a gift from the emperor, but still complains about her enslavement.
Just over all shitty book with tons and tons of plot holes. The only reason this got 2 stars instead of 1 is the Narrator was good. The book was shit.
While it was still an enjoyable book, it was not as good as the first one. There were far more spelling mistakes and in some cases just flat out wrong words than in the first. And what might be my biggest complaint was the number and frequency of interludes and alternate POVs, most of which not only added nothing to the story but came right as something interesting was just about to happen/ be resolved.
4.5 stars. Sheldon Cooper the dragon is back, but he makes a lot of progress here both personally and in skill/power advancements. Cami is definitely the secondary character, but she gets enough "screen time" to be properly developed. A bit long, but not too much and it moves well. I'll be reading the next one to see what kind of shitstorm is about to hit the fan.
Nico is such a dickhead. I enjoyed the first book because it seemed like he was learning, but he goes backwards in this book and stays there. Made it halfway through and he was still droning on about minions and gold. Boring, and annoying. But if you’re not tired of his shtick by about 25% through you should probably keep reading, you’ll enjoy the rest of the book.
Don’t make the mistake of every other LitRPG. This slow burn bs just translates to an exponential decrease in people’s interest for your story. There was so much less happening in this book than the previous title. The first 300 pages alone are just Nico and the adventurers bickering.
This had everything I was looking for. It had action, it had growth for our lofty Dragon, as well as the growing cast around him. It had more world building. However... the only downfall... waiting on the next book
Several annoying subplots have been quickly resolved and the focus is back where it belongs. The setting has been expanded, and details of the world have finally been provided. This is a solid addition to the series.
Book one presents a very interesting story but with a narrowminded (and thus limited) protagonist. Just an ok read. In book 2 things get a lot better as the story develops as does the mind of the protagonist and the side kick. With just a bit of luck book 3 will be even better.
I started reading this series on royal roads and I really like it a lot. Nico and Cami are really cool main characters and I can not wait to see what happens next. Also, the book is all about dragons and who does not like dragons.
Ohhhh man, I loved this book. It puts us right back into the action zactly where the last book ended! Nico is so unique as a dragon character. He's just like I imagine a dragon outta be, with an oversized ego, he's arrogant, and soooooooo prideful, with a huge appetite/NEED for Gold. He's Secure in the knowledge that Dragons are the superior race. Really he's an individual that you would automatically hate but in Nico case it's understandable. And with Cami his bonded dragonrider at his side (back) he's learning about life outside of his own self interest. He's learning about humans and the rest if the world. He's finally come realize that Cami is more than a pet to keep safe. Because as a team they can combine their magics and weapons together which makes 'em so much stronger then before they bonded. And you'll find plenty of action while they build up their stats, takin' out the trash monsters in the outlying towns. So if you like litRPG's, and dragons your gonna love Nico and his bonded rider Cami! You need to grab this book with both fists! Get the audio version because Neil Hellegers makes a fine Dragon!!!
Here's a quote that really tickled me:
"Strength is good, grasshopper. But pride is foolish."
We get it. The protagonist is a dragon. We get it. He thinks human suck. We get it. He's arrogant. That's the book that right there is pretty much the whole freaking book just that on repeat. The lack of growth is simply jaw-dropping.
Not as great as the first book but still an awesome story. The world building progresses well and the direction of the series seems to come into sight. Looking forward to reading more in the series.
Forced drama, misunderstandings, omissions of information ruin this. It’s not bad by any means but would be so much better without the adventurers and the university is very underwhelming.
There’s a lovely story of just Nico and Cami hidden in here somewhere.
This book was more of the first which is a welcome thing. Still leans to heavily on the litrpg for a mythical dragon in my opinion but is ultimately well done
After a long road, Nico and Cami have both arrived at the university. Here they will be able to learn and grow into their adventurer classes. However, there is also a dark secret that Nico will have to come to terms with and decide how it will affect his relationship with all of mankind.
The dragon PoV and mindset make this such a fun series! I’m already prepping to pick up the rest of the audiobooks. The history and world building here is top notch. Neil Hellegers did a fantastic job with the narration!
