You’re cordially invited to the wedding of Oliver Price and Izzy McCall… That’s how my wedding invitations should have started. I should know, I’ve had my wedding planned since I was ten. I should’ve been wearing a designer tuxedo, not a tuxedo t-shirt. The wedding should’ve been in a church with family and friends, not in a 1960’s style chapel with Elvis as the officiant. It’s nothing I ever imagined. Except the girl. She’s the only thing about this accidental marriage that is exactly right. Even if we’re complete opposites. I’m glass-half-full and crazy colored socks. She’s glass-half-empty and power suits. I love love. She thinks it doesn’t exist. I want to stay married. She wants a divorce. A problem for all newlyweds, right? From the moment I met Izzy, I knew she was the only one I’d ever need. Now I just need to convince my wife that I’m the one for her.

Thank you to Jen for her amazing updates and reviews that prompted me to give this new to me author a try!
Oliver (H) is a precious lover of love with 30+ proposals under his belt but no closer to finding his soulmate. He has a loving family, friend group, and small town, but he wants the romantic dream of his own wife and family. He’s an elementary school teacher with very golden retriever energy and a sweetheart who also gets dirty in bed 🔥. Izzy (h) is his complete opposite in that she distrusts romance and love, can’t fully open up to anyone, and she’s a grump. She's also a boss babe communications director and a workaholic. Her backstory is sad but I did feel the reveal of it dragged on (and I couldn’t fathom why she never told her BFF what happened).
These two come together while drinking and having fun at a wedding and fireworks ensue that lead to a ONS (par for the course for Izzy but out of character for Oliver). One aspect of this romance I adored was that how they interacted with and thought of the other was completely different than how each of them typically dealt with the opposite sex (ie. Oliver never had ONS and Izzy never opened up to guys she hooked up with). This is a fast burn that then turns slow burn relationship wise as neither can let the other one go mentally and thankfully Oliver gets an assist to pursue Izzy as a friend. So many fun, funny, and adorable scenes of them bonding. Friend zoning is just what they need to slowly build a lovely relationship within Izzy’s boundaries. Boundaries that slowly morph because Oliver is perfect for her and he shows her time and again that he can be trusted with her heart. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, tiny blip of om drama from h’s ex just being an asshole, and neither are virgins (unsure when they were last with someone).
This romance had so many quotable lines, sweetness, and a great found family vibe with Oliver’s hilarious friends and Izzy’s BFF and PA. I did wish that some of their more meaningful moments (the initial ONS and Vegas) didn’t have to involve alcohol but I also know it relaxed them to do something different. Some of the latter conflict and the reveal of Izzy’s past were a little OTT and contrived for me but I still had so much fun with this book and ate it up. The ending is adorable and has them choosing each other and being there for their relationship. I believed in their foundation and the longevity of their romance because of how well it was built throughout the book. The time jump ahead is minor and there’s a lead in to the next book in the series. I would recommend giving this one a try!
OMG! This book—I don't know how to put everything I feel right now in a freaking review. But goddamn, this story is so amazing, and everything in it. 🥹😍😭
I want my own Oliver, please, can I have someone like him? 😂 I've never read a more green-flag fictional character than this one, and damn him for making me swoon and giddy for most of the book. According to him, he's the guy who loves love more than anything in the world, and I think his thirty-three proposals are a good example of that. 🤣 I honestly don't know how to feel about that in the beginning, because if I have to think about it, that only means thirty-three ex-girlfriends. He's a relationship type of guy, and he doesn't do ONS, but 33 is still way too much for me, but whatever, I eventually got over that fact.
Like I said, this man is the epitome of a green flag. He's patient, sweet, caring, thoughtful, and never afraid to give his love to the people he cares about. And when it comes to Izzy, istg, if she didn't take him, I would jump inside the book and make him mine instead. 😂 The patience and understanding he showed her all throughout this story was something I rarely see in romance. He respects her and never puts pressure on her.
He was even willing to be in the friendzone if this was the only way he could have her, and honestly, not a lot of guys would put up with that. While some may find that weak, I think it takes a great deal of self-control and strength to be a good friend to someone you truly want more from in life. But Oliver did it all in stride. Did he hope for Izzy to change her mind? Yes, absolutely. But even if he wants to become more than friends, he never makes her feel obligated or pressured. He just naturally became her person and her greatest friend.
If Oliver is the golden retriever, Izzy is the black cat, and I really enjoyed their combo. She doesn't believe in love and thinks it will only hurt in the end. Her ex-fiance cheated on her with her best friend, and on their wedding day, she saw them having smex in a bathroom. She told her mother she wasn't going to marry the asshole, but the unfeeling witch told her she had to get over it. But when she wouldn't do that, the witch made her tell the townsfolk that there would be no wedding happening, and she couldn't tell them the reason why. It was BS that she agreed to it, but then she was young, hurting, and didn't know any better. You see, Izzy came from a conservative small town. So when she ended the wedding, let's just say the people had a lot of nasty things to say to her, and that made her leave that place and never look back.
Anyway, she's the total opposite of Oliver, yet for some reason they perfectly work out fine. They had ONS when they met at a wedding (that's a first for Oliver), but even after a week, she still can't get him out of her head. And when Oliver got Izzy's address from her best friend, Hazel, he sent her all of her favorite things—flowers, coffee, and food. Initially, Izzy didn't want to do anything with it, but with each passing day, she realized that she'd been looking forward to what he was going to send. Oliver eventually managed to break beyond her walls, and she accepted his suggestion to get to know one another and become friends.
Amazing is not enough to describe how I feel about this story. I love Oliver and Izzy and everything about them. Izzy's head took a while to catch up with her heart, realizing that she had fallen in love with him as well. But when she finally admitted it, she was all in, and there's nothing more sweet than this moment.
I actually enjoyed the fact that Izzy was the one who proposed in Vegas, hence their Vegas wedding. She's also the one who said I love you first, and she was also the one who said that they give this marriage a real shot. Tbf, Oliver was all in from the get-go, but being the good man that he is, he never said anything but rather showed Izzy how good they could be together. But it was also enjoyable to see Izzy gradually overcome her fears and finally open up to Oliver.
I could say so many more positive things about this book, but I've already written a lengthy review. I wish I had read this sooner because it's just that amazing. 😭 This is definitely worth reading and recommending, and I hope other readers will give it a try 💖

I love Oliver. He was mostly emotionally healthy, but one still has to wonder what's going on with the innumerable (34) times he's proposed to a woman. But he's a fun character and so sweet.
Did Izzy drive me crazy and do I want to get her to therapy? Yes. Yes, I do.
I mostly enjoyed it but the last half starts to have weird family drama and it just keeps going and going.
This probably won't be my new favorite author. But it was a fun read.
“I’d like to take the time to thank all thirty-three other women who said no to this man. I’d actually like to interview them and ask what was wrong with him. Too nice? Too sweet? Too caring? Even when I was stuck in my ways, I knew Oliver was a catch. I was stubborn, not an idiot.”
Safe to say - I would have accepted one of Oliver’s marriage proposals! What do you get when you combine a man who is a hopeless romantic with dreams of getting married and a woman to has vowed to never set foot down the aisle? A funny and heartfelt romance with a lovable hero and sassy take charge heroine. Izzy and Oliver are such a fun couple, I love a hero that isn’t afraid to fall in love and there was no doubt that Oliver would make Izzy a believer in love again!
“Here, in Oliver’s arms, is the only place I feel safe. That I feel like the demons from my past aren’t controlling my every move.”
I love the “found” family vibes this group of friends has, the whole Rolling Hills crew truly is the best! The teasing and ribbing each other brought so many laughs, the camaraderie is definitely one of my favorite parts of this book and series so far! They were not going to let Oliver live down his multiple proposal history, nor his accidental wedding to Izzy! But they of course could see how truly crazy he was for her and she the same for him, even if she tried to deny it to start. The chemistry was sizzling between these two from their first encounter, a one night stand that turned into so much more. Overall this story was fun, sexy and had me smiling!
Oliver is a first grade teacher who is in love with love. All he has ever wanted was to find a woman to love and be loved. He is the laughing stock of his friend group with over 30 failed proposals. Izzy does not believe in love and won’t date. She works hard at her job and wouldn’t change anything. Izzy went to a wedding and made her appearance and was going to dip early like she always does but where the wedding was being held she couldn’t get to her car so she went to the bar. Oliver is at the bar drowning his sorrows because of yet another failed proposal. Then Izzy walked up to order a drink to pass the time until she could get to her car. They started talking and getting drunker. He even pepped to to her end of course she said no. They went back to Oliver’s room and Izzy had the best night with multiple O’s. The next morning she was up front and honest with Oliver and told him she doesn’t do relationships or dating in general and she wanted to go their separate ways. They were both miserable. After some persisting, Oliver was able to get Izzy to become friends with him. She was going to Las Vegas for a work function and had another ticket and invited him along. After a drunken night, they woke up with wedding rings on their fingers. Oliver is excited as he is married but izzy is upset because she is married. This book is amazing. Oliver gives off golden retriever vibes. Izzy is a kick ass girl boss of her own life and she knows what she wants and how to get it and she proceeds. Chelle did it again. I love this series and the carrot she dangles in from of us about Shane i can’t wait for his book.
I read book 3 of this series first and from the page time Oliver had in it I knew I was going to love him and I was 100% right. Oliver loves love, he's a teacher, loyal and is just adorable, and then get him in the bedroom and the man turn into absolute sin. Izzy is the opposite of him when it comes to love and marriage, but she's honest, fun and blends perfectly with Oliver.
I loved everything about this story specifically (but not limited to) - The way Oliver woos Izzy - The banter -Their text message conversations -The friendship they build between them -Oliver's dirty talk - the story balance between sweet, spicy and emotional
Favorite Quotes:
Stupid Oliver and his stupid smile and his stupid penis. This is all his fault. I think somewhere in between the orgasms and the dirty talk, Oliver put a spell on me. That’s the only thing that makes sense.
"Because while you might say that I’m something, I think you’re everything.”
"you are the type of man who deserves all the love in the world."
But with Oliver, it’s so much more. This is so much more. It’s pleasure. It’s bliss. It's emotional. It’s real. It’s everything. Fuck is it everything…
Oliver leans down as our lips meet. Love. That’s all I feel when I kiss Oliver. Love and forever.
Oliver is one of the best guys I know. He always has a smile on his face and can find a silver lining in a shit storm. And all the man has ever wanted is to get married and start a family. *****However, instead of waiting until he finds the woman who truly deserves him, he proposes to anyone who makes it past the six-month mark. Or sometimes sooner. I believe he’s up to twelve proposals with no marriages. Or yeses.*******
Once again Chelle knocked it out of the park with this one. I instantly fell in love with Oliver and Izzy and his love of the proposals. This entire series is amazing and I can't wait to read the next book!
A five-star read! Another spectacular story added to the Rolling Hills series. Oliver and Izzy's story is magical and so addicting. It sucks you right in. The patience of Oliver is all a girl "Need"s. Literally the perfect man. Oliver and Izzy's story was such a joy to read. Their story has depth and emotion. Secrets and angst. It also has humor along with some sizzling spiciness. Their story is beautifully written. There is so much I love about their story I can't do it justice. My suggestion is for you to go get it and see for yourself. Thumbs way up! Highly recommend!!
I am loving this group of friends from Rolling Hills, Tennessee! Oliver, dare I say, may just be my favorite!
Oliver is unlucky in love, but is in love with love. Too many proposals, and no takers, he meets Izzy and it becomes another proposal- and another no, because Izzy does not believe in love. But from this they become friends. Friends who go to Vegas, and- yep, you guessed it- got married. Now, though, Oliver must convince Izzy to remain married, and that may prove to be difficult.
Oliver. Oh Oliver. I don't think I have ever met another guy quite like him. He is such a ray of sunshine - the opposite of Izzy's pessimistic attitude. And I love just how open he is about his feelings!
Chelle Sloan has become one of my go-to authors. She is one (of few) that I don't even need to read a blurb; just having her name attached means that I am going to fall in love with her characters. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Oliver and Izzy might be my new favorite couple. We knew Oliver's book was going to be something, Mr Serial Proposer, but I didn't anticipate quite how fun it was going to be seeing him find his true match. I loved everything about this book, their meeting, courtship, the cameos/crossover. The villains that get theirs, it was all so good. I'm trying so hard not to spoil a thing, because that's how I love to read, just go in blind. If this is your first Chelle Sloan book, it won't be your last. If you've read her before, you already know you're going to love it. Be prepared to both laugh and swoon, sometimes simultaneously.
I listened to the audio of this and really enjoyed it. The narrators did such a great job of bringing these two to life. I just loved listening to these two! This story was so much fun, no matter what format you take it in.
Not only did I devour this book in no time flat, but my cheeks hurt from smiling so much! I loved it! I loved the characters. Oliver is my new book boyfriend all others will be compared to! Heck, I need an Oliver in real life! Oh and I want to move to Rolling Hills, TN please! I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, between the serial proposer and the teaser that they get married in Vegas right away. Truthfully, I was hesitant. But Chelle Sloan makes it all work again! Oliver and Izzy's love story just might be my favorite in Chelle's world so far! These characters are likeable. They have to go through obstacles and "villains" and deal with their pasts to get where they need to be. But we get to go along with them and fall in love with their love story right along with them! Read this book. I know you'll enjoy it! I received an ARC for my honest and unbiased review.
(Book 2 in the Rolling Hills series, interconnected standalones can be read individually.)
🎒 1st grade teacher MMC 💍 accidental Vegas wedding 🎒 forced proximity 💍 one bed 🎒 Golden retriever mmc 💍 feisty/strong fmc 🎒 small town 💍 he falls first, and hard 🎒 reverse grumpy sunshine 💍 no third act breakup
Oh Oliver 🥹🤩. The golden retriever who has proposed to MANY women of the years. The guy who loves, love. Who falls hard and fast. When he falls for the girl who doesn't believe in love, or marriage. Who doesn't even date.
They find their way to each other in such a beautiful way.
I also really love the friendships and side characters in this series.
Thank you for this ARC @chelle_sloan can't wait to see where we go next in Rolling Hills
This is book 2 in Chelle Sloan’s Rolling Hills series about a small town group of friends. In a lot of ways, this friend group reminds me of my own. I grew up in a small, rural town and I’m still friends with 3 people I’ve been friends with since we were 8-years-old.
Reading this, I saw a lot of myself in Izzy, both good and bad 🫣 have I on more than one occasion said I don’t think marriage is for me or that I’m not sure about love? Maybe. Is a lot of that rooted in past trauma from shitty ex-boyfriends? Maybe. However, Izzy is also strong and fiesty which I love.
Now I’m not usually a golden retriever MMC kinda gal, but I loved how sure Oliver was about Izzy and the effort he put in to show her they we were worth giving a chance. However, add in his filthy mouth and I didn’t mind that he’s not the type of MMC I usually like 😉
Highlights: - Romance: MF - Accidental marriage - One bed - Small town romance - Opposites attract - He loves love, she doesn’t believe in it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️/5
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Oliver is one of the most golden retriever main characters I have read AND he has a dirty talking mouth .. SWOON ! Izzy kept me on my toes with if we were on the same side or not because sometimes her logic didn’t make any sense lol . Overall a quick, fun, accidental marriage set in a small town . I’m excited to see what book three and the rest of the series brings .
This is book 2 in the Rolling Hills series and it can be read as a complete standalone .
This audiobook was given to me for honest review by Valentine PR + Literary Management .
Oliver and Izzy meet at the bar of a wedding for mutual friends. They hit it off, have a blast together at the wedding and end up spending the night together. Izzy is terrified of commitment and won't even consider more than a night. Oliver is in love with love, wants his HEA and is a serial proposer. Is that a thing? Well he is one. After being friend zoned by Izzy he knows she is different than all the girls he proposed to before her but also knows that they will only ever be friends and he is comfortable with that. Until they have a drunken night in Vegas and are suddenly Mr. and Mrs.
I think the thing that I loved most about Oliver and Izzy is that we got to see a relationship develop before they went off to Vegas. It is a bit of a different twist on this type of a book and I was here for it. I really enjoyed these two and am loving this world.
It was a decent read. I didn’t love this, but it was fun while it lasted. I also think that the big part of my enjoment came from the fact that the hero was the one pursuing a relationship and wanting a true love story to happen. It was very refreshing to see a man so in tune with his emotions and sensitivity.
Oh my Oliver! Name a better friend or all around good guy…I’ll wait! Seriously y’all Chelle has created the perfect man! He’s nice, loves his momma, will do anything for a friend, loves love & inspires kids daily…oh and he’s a dirty daddy in the dark😈
Told y’all—the perfect man! He’s met his match {literally} in Izzy! She a take no prisoners babe who hates anything to do with love {for good reason}.
Luckily for Izzy, and us, Oliver is unflappable and woos the F out of Izzy💕
Ahhhh😱 the crossovers y’all! Made my Adriana Locke & Meghan Quinn loving heart smile😍
💕fave quotes📖
“We’re here,” the driver says. “And please give me five stars since I was an unwilling audience to your porno.”—-☺️🤣🫦
“Oliver?” I still don’t move. Did she really just say she’s not going to take it off? “Oh, shit, I broke you,” she says, ——-
She nods as she comes closer to me, taking my other hand in hers. “I do. That’s one of the reasons I love you.” I think I’m dead. Yup. Dead. Deceased. Rest in peace to me. “Oliver? Did I break you again?”—-poor Oliver he’s waited forever for his forever 🥲😍
I just simply love Chelle’s writing style! Before I was even halfway through this book, I ordered the next two in the series. The friend dynamic is just amazing, in fact, I am somewhat jealous. Truly a love story and proof of what can happen when you believe…and trust your partner. This is my new author when I need some romance in my life. ❤️
This is a crazy season of my life. It took me a while to read this book. I enjoyed it. There is a golden retriever hero who loves love. The heroine is a workaholic that never gives love a chance. Waking up married in Vegas is always a fun read. I recommend it.
I thought the ONS to accidental marriage would happen at the start since that’s what the synopsis suggested but it doesn’t actually happen until later and I’m not patient
The One I Need is just what I needed! Chelle Sloan… love her writing how she tells a story and develops characters!! I’ve loved all her books and I love Oliver and Izzy… love their connection, their chemistry… Izzy has had a bad past affecting her… Oliver has fallen for her… I love how he was always there for her, even as friends. Vegas is Vegas… how his friends rally around him to help him realize to be there for Izzy.. so so good!!!
That’s the theme song for this book. If you want a book that will make you smile the entire time, and give you all the feels….. then The One I Need is it!!
Oliver is the cutest “golden retriever” character since Silas from Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score. I just loved him. He loves with all his heart and gives you all of him. And Izzy needed someone like him in her life. Having sworn off love 16 years ago, Izzy finds herself unknowingly swept off her feet by Oliver.
Equally sweet and fun, this story is so great. I really can’t do it justice with my review. Just take my word for it and check it out. You won’t be sorry 🤓
I fell head over heels for Oliver and Izzy. These two were the perfect opposites, the balance that they each needed. When they finally get to both of them love hard and their chemistry was on fire.
Gah! Oliver was such a swoony hero. I loved his huge heart and hurt for him when he had been rejected so many times. His character development was subtle but perfect – his patience and friendship with Izzy was new for him and the path he needed to take to find his true love. Chelle Sloan gave Izzy quite the journey. Her past, when it was finally revealed, had my heart breaking for her and wanting to throw a punch or two. I loved how, with Oliver’s quiet love and consistency from the start, that Izzy was able to heal and change and have the love she deserved.
Without giving too much away, I loved the progression of this story. The order of events wasn’t what I was expecting and I really loved that surprise. And the angst that Chelle Sloan gave these two hurt my heart yet seemed to be exactly what they needed to confirm that their future was together, wherever that may be.
I love this Rolling Hills found family. They proved laughs and love and heart-warming moments. I am excited for the rest of the series.
The One I Need by Chelle Sloan is a sweet reverse grumpy/sunshine, vegas wedding novel with alot of heart, a dirty talking book boyfriend who will definitely make you swoon and a heroine who cant resist our hero.
I enjoyed this read. Both characters fit together super well and the hero was a real swoonworthy guy. I loved how he just didnt back off and defended the heroine even though she did tell him multiple times they were just "friends".
The bond between the friendgroup was AMAZIN. This book was fun, emotional and very steamy
Oliver! that’s all I have to say. The author did a magnificent job with this book. I was obsessed from the first chapters. OMG Oliver was everything and more. The sweetest man alive. Best book boyfriend I have read in a while. The story was amazing. The characters all worked well together. This was low drama low angst and nothing but laughs and love and amazing swoon worthy moments. No third act breakup. It was perfect.
I loved Oliver. Man how many times can you ask a person to marry you? The answer 34. This man was so funny and I loved this story. This is a new to me author and I’m definitely going to pick up some more books of hers.
