Oops! I Made a Mistake follows a little girl who makes a series of 3 or 4 mistakes. She sees how her Dad handles mistakes without getting too worked up. And then she realizes that everyone makes mistakes. Even her dad.

What child cannot relate to making mistakes? The mistakes the little girls makes are all ones that a typical child might make and mostly result from not paying attention. They aren't intentional. It's good to see how adults handle mistakes without getting too upset. And then it's a nice reminder to know that even adults sometimes make mistakes too. I liked the phonics repetition in this book. Kids need to see each word over and over until it becomes memorized and not just sounded out. Frequent repetition helps words to become memorized and not have to be sounded out each time.

Oops! I Made a Mistake is a book any kid can relate to. Especially if you have a child that makes frequent inattention mistakes, this might help them to feel understood. I loved the phonics repetition with specific words being repeated and then specific phonetic blends being used multiple times. This helps to build reading vocabulary and mastery plus builds the child's reading confidence. Oops! I Made a Mistake gets 5 Stars. Have you or your child read Oops! I Made a Mistake!? Sometimes the random books I bring for the toddlers I babysit are flops and sometimes they become surprise hits. This was the latter! Requested over and over for no discernible reason (at least to me) I nearly had the story memorized by the end of the day. The story is simple as is the accompanying text, and perhaps that contributed to the appeal. It may also have been the mess the main character creates or the cake falling off the counter at the end. Who knows why toddlers enjoy some things over others? My only complaint is that every character is named except the main little girl, and unfortunately this bothered the boys. I named her and then forgot the name--big mistake! Because later the boys wanted to know her name and I still can't for the life of me think of what I had said.

This book teaches children a great lesson that everyone makes mistakes so do not be discouraged. I like how the book starts with the youngest making mistakes and then her older brothers and even her dad. I enjoy books that rhyme and this book has that as well. The book also has sight words in the back and this helps children practice.

This book is useful for students being introduced to reading and features simple words that may be used as sight words in the classroom. The lesson of the story is that it is okay to make mistakes and that you can go back and fix them.

A great level 1 easy reader book for my Kindergartener.
A simple sentence on every page. He was able to read on his own.

The cute story tells that everyone makes mistakes and that is okay.

We have been having a difficult time finding easy to read "Easy Readers". Some of the books say they are a My first Reader or a Level 1 Reader, but really have a lot more words than our little one is ready for. Well, this book by Kristen Hall was perfect! It was really great for her and she was able to read almost every word by herself. We love this series, and will be getting more of the books as we find them.
