State Of The Nation

Rate this book
Shea's book is set in Scotland four years after independence. The country faces economic trouble and social unrest. Rescue (of a sort) may come from a rich US-based multinational company which offers jobs and financial support ... with political strings attached. There is some violence in the style of Ian Fleming.

A particularly prescient book for the current political debate about Scottish independence. Overall it was quite enjoyable but at the end an unsatisfactory and I felt rushed ending with unresolved plot issues. I also felt that some of the "baddies" could have had better characterisation.
