Small-town Oklahoma and the friendships they produce are embedded in Sharon Srock’s heart. After spending her first fifteen years on the move, living in fourteen homes and attending thirteen schools, she landed in a tiny central Oklahoma community and made it her own. As someone who’s been blessed to be a part of the same hometown church for more than five decades, Sharon writes stories of hope built from her own unique perspective—stories that demonstrate a sisterhood formed not by blood but by heart, where ordinary women are able to do extraordinary things thanks to the friends who surround them and the faith that pulls them through. Sharon still lives in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma, with her husband and three very large dogs. When she isn’t writing, she loves to read, cook, and travel. One of these days, she’s going to figure out how to do all three at the same time.
Jesse has finally found her true love after 12 years. Marrying right out of high school had not exactly been the fairy tale she thought it would be. With Garrett, she feels that she will have her happily ever after. I love the characters in this series. The love, understanding, and camaraderie that these women have is something that most long for. To be able to call and know someone will be at the other end would be a dream. Sharon Srock has a way of writing her characters that really brings the bonds of friendship to the forefront. Her characters are well developed and we really know exactly how each is feeling. We cry, laugh, and yell at the characters at times. Your emotions will be all over the place but this is a good thing. I love her storylines. We all face happy and sad, angry and confused in our lives. Her characters are no exceptions. I recommend Sharon Srock to friends all of the time. I received a copy from the author. A review was not a requirement.
Lovely and wholesome read. I'm plan to read more from this author as she takes challenging concepts and excels clean/wholesome romantic chemistry. I love the story concept, but I wish the author continued to push the envelope near the end. (Again that's just my tastes) It lacked a needed plot-twist if it was going for the 'shut up and take my money' wow-factor.
But I'm a tad biased, I liked the villain and secretly wished that instead of him becoming more aggressive as the novel progressed that he would grow? The way it's written, it's predictable but still definitely worth reading. I am bothered that there are two guys praying over the same woman, and if the guy was as weird as he was... why did he have healthy prayer habits? IDK. This story could have been a 6/5 second chance type romance. Again, great story as it was written, but the ex-husband still loved his wife... I'm not a divorce expert, but that is really hard to justify it being okay if he was willing for a second chance and loved her. Like if he was praying to God on a regular basis and knew what scripture said about marriage, wouldn't he also allow God to change his heart? People mess up and he had a valid argument. The manipulation seemed to cheapen him and that cliche is why I deducted a star.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel (Can't stop thinking about it, bah!) and will recommend it to readers who love Christian romances that tackle through controversial situations.

Jesse is the fourth book in the inspirational romance series, Sisters by Design, by Sharon Srock. And she has done it again as she gives readers a well-written story about friends who are Christianity in action and know how to support one another through difficult situations. Srock's characters are strong, likable, and believable, people you would like to have as your own friends. And yet they are not portrayed as perfect but are shown with their foibles and faults as well as their strengths. Not afraid to tackle gritty subjects, the author tactfully and tastefully writes of unwed motherhood, false accusations of paternity, and abuse. The story moves quickly as the author adds a twist or two to the plot and weaves in strong Christian values to bring readers a heartwarming and inspirational read. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the narrator, Becky Doughty, did a great job giving voice to the characters and their story, making for an enjoyable listening experience. A review was not required and the opinions are my own.
I have loved this series Sisters by Design by Sharon Srock. Well written series and love the characters. Sometimes we become close to women in our life that are not blood sisters but we get just as close to them. I fill God puts people in our life that we need. I have sisters like that mean the world to me. As in this series by God's plan they are together. Jessie married young right from high school not really knowing what married life was all about one thing she found out was it wasn't meant to be abused. After 12 years she has moved on and not any hurry to marry again but God had other things in mind for her. She meets Garret. A dream come true the perfect husband he would be. That is until something major happens. Can she trust him after this? Well this is such a wonderful series but you could read just this one and get whats going on ok. Get the book see what has happened and if they can hold to their faith to get them through it.
This is a book that once you start reading you will not want to put down. The characters are so, I felt like I was there with them. I love the description of everything in the book. This is part of a series, you don’t have to in order but you will want to read the other books. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in thee series.
The book starts out with Jesse getting engaged to Garnett but then her Ex shows up and tries to prevent it. Then there is also Carrie, a student at the school when Garnett is an counselor tries to ruin him but not really on purpose. There is definitely some excitement at times in the book.
I love the inspirational part of the book, loved how the characters talk to God and how God was with them through everything.
I was given an complementary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
Jesse by Sharon Srock Sisters by Design Series Book Four Jessica “Jesse” Grey was about to start a new life. After a devastating marriage twelve years ago...she's finally going to get married again. To a loving, God-fearing, wonderful man. Amazing how one night can shake one's world.
Garrett Saxton was going to marry the woman he'd been praying for. It took a long time for God to bring Jesse to him, but now...all was right in his world. Until it wasn't. One false accusation can bring his world down around him.
It's easy to say we trust God and that we'll put our lives in His hands. Amazing when that time comes how we seem to want to do things ourselves. Sometimes without realizing it. The books in this series are so real. So emotional, because they are situations that are real life. I love Sharon Srock's books. And it's a good thing to keep tissues nearby. http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
Like-minded friends are Priceless! Sisters by Design is a great title for this series because what we see is friends finding it much easier to face the hard things life throws their way with like-minded friends beside them. Other characters in this story also face common problems and each must find the right way to go. We see these resolved as they learn that faith must be lived out in real life not just acknowledged in their heads. This may sound like it will bog you down but it doesn't because Sharon ties all of the threads into her story so naturally that it flows smoothly & is hard to put down. The characters are fun & full of life. This story can be read as a stand alone. Threads from the series backstory are easily picked up without leaving you in the dark...unable to understand how they tie in. That said, this is a totally binge-worthy series & you will best enjoy the flow as you follow from beginning to end.
Jesse is the fourth book in the 'Sisters by Design' series.
It follows the story of Jesse, who after a decade of learning to be a strong woman after an abusive marriage, she is ready to settle down - again - with Garrett. Her strength and commitment is tested when a bomb drops which threatens Garrett's reputation. Add in a little surprise when her ex husband reenters her life demanding they reunite, Jesse's conflicting emotions threatens to her happiness. She struggles with memories from her past while battling her new situation.
Sharon Srock has beautifully written this story which touches on overcoming past hurt, forgiveness and the strength it takes to fight for a worthy marriage.
I thoroughly enjoy reading about the characters in Sharon's series and I am in awe of the great friendships that exist between these ladies. I particularly liked the reference to Callie and the featuring of April and Harrison who is prominent in the Women of Valley View series.
Jesse is a well-written addition to the Sisters by Design series. Sharon Srock brings the characters to life. Jesse and Garrett go through some very tough times. Ms. Srock handles the issues of abuse in marriage and unfounded rape accusations well. Even though she addresses difficult things and treats them with the seriousness that they deserve, the book is still a heart-warming romance. I love the friendships that the Sisters by design have. They are supportive, caring, nosy, and there for each other. I also love that after they talk things out, they take time to pray. There are twists and turns in the plot that add excitement to the story line. There is a wonderful HEA. I highly recommend Jesse and the other books in this series. I plan to read more of Ms. Srock's work. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this excellent story.
Jesse is book four in the Sisters By Design series. One of the things that I love best about Sharon Srock’s books is the way she transports me as a reader into the town of Garfield. I become a friend to the women there, sharing in their misery, victories and everyday life. The greatest parts of her characters are simply the way they do life together. Not perfectly, but in a realistic way that is relatable.
Jesse has found true love but her ex-husband, an abusive and manipulative man, is determined to destroy her happiness. When her fiancé is wrongfully accused of raping a student, Jesse finds herself thrown into a battle of trusting in the man she believes him to be. Worse, unless he can prove his innocence, their wedding and new beginning is placed indefinitely on hold. I absolutely loved Jesse. Definitely a fantastic read that I’d recommend.
Jesse is a great book. I love the depth of Sharon Srock’s books; they may be shorter novellas, which is great because then you can read them in one sitting, but they are full of multiple layers to think about long after you close the book. This book is part of the Ladies of Garfield series and I love these girls. I love the storyline between Jesse and Garrett. Oh my the twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down. If you haven’t read the Ladies of Garfield series yet, start with the first one and have a whole day ahead of you because once you start, you won’t want to quit.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was under no obligation to write a review, positive or negative. All opinions are solely my own
What are the chances that on a fun night out with Jesse’s fiancé, Garrett, and several of their friends her’s and Garrett’s worlds would come crashing down. Jesse thought she knew it all right out of high school. She married Tyler the love of her life. He worked hard, told her she didn’t need to work. He just wanted to know where she went and what she did. Jesse soon realized she was trapped by a controlling husband and the night Tyler took it too far she ran and never looked back. Why then on the worst night of Jesse and Garrett’s life was Tyler standing right there to witness it all? Tyler was back! (I was given a free copy of this book by the author.)
Sharon Srock has done it again in her fourth installment of her Sisters by Design series. She knows how to write a book that are true to life and Jesse is no different. This is such a great read. I enjoyed the audio version of this book, as well. The narrator did a great performance. I hope to listen to more of Miss Srock's books with the narrator. Jesse is getting a well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who love stories and characters that they can relate to, as well as, ones that will inspire them. I received Jesse from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Jesse’s story is truly amazing. Watching Jesse and Garrett’s relationship grow will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Tyson is a horrible person the way he tries to get Jesse back is scary. The characters in this book are all very special people. This book is very inspirational, you won’t be able to stop reading it. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could. You will feel God working throughout this whole story.
A story that deals with many things. To step out of an abuses marriage and trying to rebuild your self esteem and life. When a new life is ready to happen her ex returns, questions haunt her of a love that was abuses, or the new. life with Garrett. When Garrett a high school counselor helping a young girl , he ends up being accused. A test of their love and faith is shown. A good story taking a chance of a new life and love is not always easy. Given audio for my voluntary review
This is another excellent book in the various series written by Sharon Srock. The story of Jesse started with an abusive husband twelve years ago that ended in divorce. She’s now engaged…but things start to go awry. Their faith in God is a big part of their story. How will it all end? There are so many wonderful characters in these books, you just have to read them all! I really enjoyed this book!
Jesse and Garrett qetting married but obstacles stand in the way before it can happen. Suspense, twists and turns pulls you through the book but romance,God's love and protection keep you on the right path. Reading each book as a part of a series adds to the enhancement of the characters. This book is recommended for those who love Christian romance with a strong inspirational w.
What a great read! Loved all the twists and turns throughout the pages. Favorite character: Garrett! What a guy! I wasn't sure if I was going to like him becuase of Jesse's track record with guys...but I'm pretty sure I'd love for my girls to find a Garret when they grow up. :) I was given an ARC by the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Ms. Srock takes a story that happens often in our society and tells it in such a way, you will relate to it, if you have experienced this or know someone who has. I loved how she didn’t make excuses for the abuser, and followed the whole cycle though.
Jesse is engaged and much in love with Garrett. Her ex decided she was still his wife. A lot of work on his part to get her. Fortunately his plans did not work. Thank goodness, the book ends happily at the double wedding. Very well done, loved how it all turned out.
Such a good story. Listened to it on Audible. I have a lot of catching up to do now. I'll admit I felt a little bit out of the loop where the other characters are concerned because I didn't read the first 3 books. But still recommended.
What I've come to expect from the series. Good Christian Sisterhood sticking up for each other, plenty of twisty turns with past relationships always setting things on edge. In other words situation normal in Garfield Oklahoma. But this time how about a double wedding with a surprise thrown in?
I didn't know if I was going to be able to read Jesse when I first read the synopsis. I'm glad I stuck with it. I loved Jesse. Sharon had me wondering how the main characters would handle things, literally up until the last page. What an amazing story of second chances and not looking back!

This was definitely a good suspense story! Fear can make us do some awful things. I pray for Carrie and hope she finds sisters in Christ. Very well done!
