Accidental Alien Brides #6

Wed to the Alien Assassin

Rate this book
My husband is the deadliest alien warlord of all, and I hate that about him... until he's exactly what I need.I've dedicated my life to doing as much good as possible. I won’t let my marriage to the big and buff alien assassin, Feruz, wreck my plans. I don't care if I accidentally I swore to be his mate at what I thought was a welcoming ceremony. My morals are the polar opposite of his, and I want nothing to do with him.... even if my new life on his planet is a bit lonely.

When Feruz offers me a way out of our marriage, I take it in a heartbeat. If I go on one date with him to a relaxing resort and still want out of our marriage, he’ll leave me alone.

Except, our date quickly goes my husband is the target of ruthless mercenaries who also want to kidnap me. I am determined to abide by my non-violent oaths… an oath Feruz agrees to honor as well, even if it goes against all his training and instincts.

I never imagined Feruz would be the sort of male I’d want by my side, but when push comes to shove, he might be a better partner than I could ever imagine.

Disappointed

I was really looking forward to this story but when it finally came out I was so disappointed. The female lead's Pollyanna whining and insistence that he not kill anyone was so utterly ridiculous to me. Seriously, when people are trying to kill you and rape you, your worrying about hurting them or killing them is stupid. Especially if the people you're having to kill are killers themselves, you do what you have to to survive or realize you're going to die because of your principles and accept it. Trouble is she wants it both ways and it made her a thoroughly and completely unlikable character -- she was a whiny twat. I mean, in all fairness, I get her not wanting him to hurt or kill innocent people or non-combatants, but not hurting people actively attempting to kill you is asinine. So in the previous books I could understand her not wanting him given his mouth and how he treated her, but in this book I detested her. I got to around 62% and quit reading, although I think I might finish it at some point I've gone on to two other books by now.

Formulaic, but it works!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💜💙❤️
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: 😒😀🙂🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Tati - she is a doctor from Earth who joined the Federation after the Roth attacked Earth. She doesn’t like killing and believes in saving lives instead of taking them. The federation sends her and a bunch of other women on what they called a diplomatic mission to Suevan territory to befriend the Suevan people. She is not happy to find that the “Welcome Ceremony” was actually a wedding, and her government basically sold her and the other women in exchange for Suevan tech that will help protect Earth. She finds herself married to not only a strong Suevan warrior, but an assassin who stands for everything she hates.

The Hero: Feruz - he is not only the assassin for the Suevan people, but the most lethal Suevan assassin who has ever lived. He chose Tati to be his wife and wants her to accept him. When she looks at him with loathing and repulsion, it truly hurts him. He offers her a deal; to come with him in his spaceship and spend a day with him, he will let her go when it is over if that is what she wants. He plans to take her to a resort planet to get a massage and spa treatments because one of the other women said she likes that.

The Story: Tati is not only a doctor, but since coming to Suevan territory, she has been a researcher. She came up with a contraceptive patch for her fellow females that works against alien sperm, she also has created a pain killer and some other medicines that work well out of the Suevan flora. She doesn’t think there is any way she will ever accept being married to an Assassin so she agrees to go with Feruz, hoping to be let go when their time is over.

This was another enjoyable book in this series, with the same format as the rest. The two main characters go off alone together and go through some dangerous and suspenseful situations that end up bringing them together and ultimately getting to know each other and understand each other, before they fall for each other and give in to their attraction and eventually fall in love. This is a formula that works well for me, as I love a journey story and there is also some steam, but not too much to overtake the story.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in dual narration by Mason Lloyd and Hollie Jackson. I really like both narrators for alien romance. Hollie Jackson has a very expressive voice and her voice for male characters is not bad at all. Mason Lloyd has a deep voice which works well for massive alien warriors. The narration on this book is terrific.

Feruz and Tati brought me a passel of laughs with this book. I love myself some sass, and both Feruz and Tati delivered.

Feruz's character development surprised me in this book as I expected him to be a bit "harder", but he turned out to be a giant cinnamon roll just like the rest of the Suevans. Tati was a fun change of pace with her guilt-driven pacifism. I appreciated that Tati knew herself and her wants/needs and didn't flip flop after making her decision. No 3rd act miscommunication here!

I loved the comic relief in this book, which definitely brought me back to all the fun with Gen and the Prince. I actually expected the plot to go in a whole different direction and really enjoyed the ride that I was led down.

I will say, I think Pol stole the show from Feruz though. He added such a fun level of comic relief, buffer, and occasionally helped translate/mediate the couple. I love the direction the author took in using a third character instead of having the couple be isolated.

Overall it was a wild ride, lots of laughs, some serious topics, lots of steam, and two hearts of gold. I absolutely cannot wait until Carmen and Xade's book. What is he hiding?! And Pol's book cannot come fast enough either! I can already tell Selene is going to make Pol work for it!

Mini spoiler:
The barbaric sex acts scene was hilarious. And I am so disappointed the butt comment didn't get circled back to 😂

My favorite Pol-ism:
- Feruz attempting to reassure Tati he will keep her safe.
- Insert Pol: "Exactly," Pol adds. "He can't breed you if you're dead."  💀

Dual POV, M/F sci-fi adventure romance with a HEA 💚
Available on KU

This is such a fun series to read. I can never decide which big ol Suevan alien warlord is my favorite 😅 Suevans have are an alien race with recognizable human and lizard-ish features. Their skin is glossy and scaled with various shades of green that fade to orange/yellow on their chests and stomach. They’re humanoid enough to have five fingered hands but they end in talons. They have fangs, and they have a thick tail & they’re totally ripped with muscles (of course 🫶). Sign. me. up.

Tati is the FMC of Wed to the Alien Assassin, and she is a doctor who is very much against war and killing and is too focused her new career on planet Sueva and definitely did NOT sign up to get married. Oops is because Tati is the accidental bride of our MMC Feroz, The Assassin, the deadliest Suevan warlord. Simply put: Feruz wants his wife. Tati does not want her husband.

So Feruz offers Tati a deal: go on one date with him to a relaxing resort and if at the end of the date she still does not want to be married (to an extremely hot green guy…😅) he’ll leave her alone. So Feruz goes all out and takes Tati to a what is essentially a pink spa-planet run by fleshy, gelatinous blobs with tentacles and a featureless face, who are known for their ability to give the best pain relieving massages.

The bad thing about this date is that Feruz, being THE Assassin, has a bounty out on him, and mercenaries are out to get not only him but any human female found in the galaxy…. so it’s very handy Feruz’s very human wife is trapped with him on this spa planet. What follows is an action packed adventure where Feruz, Tati, and Pol, their mercenary bodyguard (who is another alien race called a Draegon), have to get off the blobby-run spa planet safe and alive and free.

This is a fast paced adventure with sexy times and romance 🌶️😅 lastly, I gotta be honest, from the moment we’re introduced to Pol the cheeky mercenary Draegon (who has wings, breaths fire, and shifts 🥵🔥) I was all ready to go in a why choose jungle planet adventure. But alas Pol’s story is for another time and I can’t wait for his book. Love this series and can’t wait for the next one. 💚💚💚💚💚

I was waiting for this one, wondering how they could end up together after being at such odds with each other. I think this one might be a favorite of mine, Feruz and Tati are amazing together, and the banter is great! I won't spoil it, but one scene had me howling with laughter. It also introduced new characters and moved this story along. I'm sad that time in Sueva is coming to an end but excited for new characters and stories to come. I absolutely loved this book. Amazing work.

I was given an ARC for my honest review. I am stoked for the next book.

In a groundbreaking mission, Earth has launched an all-female team into space with the objective of establishing contact with extraterrestrial life and fostering goodwill. However, the team encounters unexpected challenges that go beyond their initial expectations. A significant aspect of this encounter involves differing perceptions: while the human women see it as a welcoming initiative, the aliens view it through the lens of traditional customs, including marriage.

This situation unfolds in a complex and often hostile environment, raising concerns about the safety of the human team. As the narrative progresses, the dynamics between the women and the alien alpha warlords evolve, highlighting their protective instincts toward the newcomers. This interplay leads to intense chemistry among the characters, prompting them to confront their feelings and desires amidst the challenges they face.

The story is rich with elements of action, misunderstandings, fear, pain, love, and humor, creating a multifaceted exploration of relationships across species and the journey toward mutual understanding and connection.

I have read all of the Accidental Alien Bride series and have thoroughly enjoyed each one for different reasons. So, when I was chosen to read on ARC of Wed to the Alien Assassin I gladly accepted. This book focuses on Feruz who is Sueva’s chosen assassin warlord and Tatiana (Tati) the crew’s medical doctor. A huge conflict that is explored throughout this book by the couple is the individual who kills people versus the individual who works hard saving lives. Tati believes that Feruz being the assassin is simply put, a killer and enjoys it, which makes her standoffish, and unwilling to give him or their relationship a chance. Though Feruz really craves an opportunity to see where their relationship could go, so he proposes the idea to her that they should go to this resort island just for the day. This is where the story truly begins because things aren’t as they seems, and the couple must work together in order to get themselves out of the situation that they seem to be in.

Now there were several things that I enjoyed about this particular installment but there were also some things I didn’t love. Feruz (Hero) was pretty incredible now I won’t spoil anything but his part in the resolution at the end of this story really convinced me that he truly loves Tati for who she is and what she stands for. His devotion to her and the way he expresses his love is the main reason that I rated this as highly as I did. All he really wants is for her to be happy even if it means her choosing not being with him. My biggest dislike was Tatiana (Heroine) …… I did not hate her, but at times especially in the first half of the book, she irritated me with some of her decision making. With her being so anti-violence, which plays out during life or death situations it creates additional havoc in something that already chaotic and dangerous. Many times, I felt a little annoyed with the heroine always playing the moral high ground card, but I do respect how the author wrote the character to be (and I love January Bell’s writing 😊). By the time the story came to its end, I was not convinced by Tati’s love for Feruz, it felt that her “feelings” developed from 0 to 100 making it feel that it was not organic and/or authentic.

Overall, it was a pretty good story and I always love coming back to this world and revisiting some of the past characters from the previous books, but this was not my favorite in the series. I will definitely be continuing, Accidental Alien Brides especially because at the end of this book we get to find out who the next couple is, which I am super excited about.😁😉

I received an ARC of this book, in exchange for a honest review.

Wed To The Alien Assassin

- [x] Lots of action
- [x] Miscommunication
- [x] Stick to morals FMC
- [x] Soft only for her MMC

Imagine being sent from to another planet to set up a relationship because they have better defense system, the picker? You enter a ceremony and end up married to an alien assassin 😳 not only do you not want to be married to him, his morals go against everything you believe.

Feruz, the alien assassin, tells Tatiana that if she agrees to go on one date to a spa with him and if she still doesn’t like him then he will leave her alone. Tatiana thinks this is the best way to get out of this marriage deal so she agrees to it. When they get to the spa all hell breaks loose!! There’s a bounty on his head and the mercenaries also want Tatiana! Good thing she’s married to an alien assassin 😉

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the character development from Tatiana. The girl had some strong walls built around her and the way Feruz got her to let him in was so good! He never made her change who she was and he really cared for what she believed in.

Feruz was misunderstood by Tatiana. His actions weren’t really clear to her and she was really so against everything that had to do with him. When she really got to know him and took notice of why he did certain things, she looked at him in a new light 😍

I usually don’t write reviews because I just read for the vibes but I feel like I need to for this one. I loved that Feruz was like a trained killer, desperately chasing and Tatiana and needling her to give him a chance and being witty/annoying to her. Then I’m reading this book and just felt like they didn't really keep their same energy from the other books. I was hoping for a more complex reason she decides to have a change of heart for him rather than just looking at him and then deciding out of nowhere to realize how much of a brat she has been to him. I liked Tati initially because she was headstrong and devoted to her medical work, from the other books it seemed like she would be a strong character but she just cries, throws up and crumbles under pressure. So frustrating. The plot hole at the end with Nikki and Abby bothered me too. Pretty confident Abby’s books ends with them being pregnant already and then they start up New Novaran but in here the beast says let’s go make our own child? Like she’s already pregnant in the last book? I’m no professional but there should be a way for that to not happen. It killed it for me.

Overall I didn’t hate the entire book and I’m glad they got together in the end. Hopefully the next book won’t have any plot holes.

Good

Trying to get to know his bride a little better, Suevan Feruz takes his human wife Tatiana to a spa- only nothing quite goes as planned!

I’m glad that Tati improves after a bit, because she was a very annoying and rather unlikeable character to begin with. She wasn’t particularly fair to Feruz, and was definitely judgmental. Fortunately, as I said, she improved on further acquaintance.
We also met a few interesting characters in this book, not just the other humans on the Suevan homeworld, but some other aliens too, and I see some interesting stories in the future!

This was a fast read, and an enjoyable one. It held a few cameos from past heroines and heroes, but is really mostly a tale of overcoming pride and prejudice- not quite Jane Austen in the stars, but definitely with some of the same themes.
An entertaining read for the sci-fi romance enthusiast and those who have enjoyed the previous books in this series.

"What to the Alien Assassin" by January Bell presents a mixed reading experience. Feruz's initial humor and witty charm were engaging, but it's disappointing when his character undergoes a sudden transformation. The shift in tone is somewhat jarring. While the central plot is intriguing and the main characters maintain their chemistry, there's an irksome moral issue that may leave readers frustrated. Nonetheless, the book manages to maintain an overall level of cuteness that keeps you invested in the story, even if some elements fall short of expectations.

Repetitive.

I really had hopes for this relationship (I’ve enjoyed the others) only as I read, it read so much like the one before I was afraid I’d already read it. There wasn’t much to this story and the characters were flat in comparisons to others Bell and written. I had hoped Feruz was going to be a bit edgier. He was as much a cinnamon roll as the rest. And can these warlords be more warlordy? They make really dumb choices… a lot. I think I’m done reading this series now.

Oh boy did I love this. This is series is so fun and this instalment did not disappoint.

Tatiana is the 6th of 7 women from earth who have been unknowingly 'accidentally on purpose' wed to a hot alien lizard man. She has given her unsolicited bridegroom Feruz, one opportunity, a single date to court her and overcome her hang ups about his job, in exchange for his promise to never speak to her again if it doesn't go well... and then it doesn't go well. Rap about that Eminem.

Getting to witness sweet baby Feruz's generalized panic about how things are turning out is worth the price of admission alone, but it also has the other staples of the sci-fi romance genre that we all know and love. Adventure, a trusty-ish sidekick, cross culture communication, fish out of water hijinks, alien flirting, diverse and dynamic characters, banter, and confusing idioms lost in translation. All the good stuff but still fresh, fun and engaging.

My only complaint is that I finished it quickly and now have to wait for the next one. Though I also have Pol's book to look forward to as well!

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was my first ARC ever and I was so excited because I was already a big fan of the series!!! If you enjoy the work of Ruby Dixon, Zoey Draven, Tracey Lauren, and Hope Heart add January Bell to the roster and enjoy!

This is the 6th book from "The Accidental Alien Brides". This is the story of Feruz - the deadliest Sueva's assassin and Tatiana (Tati) the lead medical doctor.

Their story was quite interesting to read. Tati was really good at her work. When it comes to her love life, she can't fully see Feruz as her husband. All she sees in him is the ruthless assassin. He, on the other hand, wants to show that he can be worthy of her, so they can truly be husband and wife.

He offers to give her a full day of spa and massages on a different planet and when they finally arrive, they get in danger.

It was really nice watching them being together when they were trying to survive with dangerous people lurking in every corner. Feruz finally had the chance to show his softer side and show Tati that he could be a different man, a man who would do anything for his wife and love her unconditionally. It was definitely worth it, because Tati saw the change in him. She changed as well and all in a good way. Her desire to be happy and loved became everything.

There was plenty of smut within the story, especially when she accidentally got a certain type of poison that made her go crazy with lust 🤭. That was so so good to read. The heat between them was a lot and of course it was impossible for them not to act on it 🥵. I loved it.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this one. The fmc had ptsd from her time as a soldier killing Roth, but I think the fact that she was so against lethal retaliation while they were being attacked - and her being threatened with rape and sex slaver- was annoying. Girrrrl, you don’t want no space syphilis! Not do you want a career change, ok?? Dumb.

Feruz was a completely different person very quickly. I was a little cautious about him at first because I’ve seen snarky mmc’s turn mean and petty, but he completely changed into… all the other warlords with their human wives. Lol They are all himbos, pretty much. Even though it was an abrupt change, I didn’t mint it too much.

ARC Review - Another super sweet story in the Accidental Alien Brides series! I honestly cannot get enough of these books, they are cute with just enough drama/adventure to make the character growth feel earned. Also can we agree that we all need a hunky alien warlord to bend over backwards for us??

Better than I expected.

So no spoilers. But I wasn’t sure what to expect with the MMC. I was angry over his cousin’s behavior since it was so polarized from the others and MMC of this book had appeared some what similar enough that I was like ugh. No. So I was really happy over the story. More to the world which is awesome.

I absolutely am enjoying this series and the branch offs!

The start of the book had all the ingredients and makings of a fun read. The MMC had a zesty personality and the FMC had the potential to find a personality for herself.
What happened?
The MMC's zesty personality turned into a cold limp noodle by the end of the novel.
The FMC was about as enjoyable as a wet paper towel.

Worst book in the series. A struggle to get through.

I was excited for this book. It was neat to think about the dynamic of a seemingly more morally gray and rakish male lead than the others in this series. The idea of an assassin with a doctor was also an interesting pairing to me but it's the same plug in formula of the author's other books from this series. Life threatening adventure without access to proper bathrooms, alien who worships the ground the female lead walks on to an almost sickening degree, female lead gets a pet and is special and somehow helps save humans, they fall in love, the end. Except the female lead of this book was insufferable. It's like she's actively trying to get everyone killed or captured at every turn. She's supposed to be an elite military woman who has killed several Roth's in the past from necessity but doesn't seem to have a single survival instinct in her body. She's a massive hypocrite and consistently asks the male lead to put himself in extra danger so she can sleep better at night, even after he almost dies because of her. The romance was awful too she just hates him and is nasty to him until she isn't and suddenly just loves him. (which didn't make sense to me for her character from the other books. She is a doctor and helps give therapy to the other women. She is usually the most understanding and calm but is a nasty raging hypocrite to the male lead) the sex scenes were also more few and far between than the other books and when we finally got them they fell flat. I feel bad leaving a 1 star review. I rarely do for books I finish but I just hated the female lead and the book wasn't a satisfying read for me. Instead of being happy about their happy ever after I just felt bad for the male lead that was stuck with her.

Ugh. The FMC is so annoying with her Pollyanna moral high horse. She's also supposed to be one of the kindest/gentlest of the women, but you really don't see it.

The MMC is interesting in other books but like the rest of this series becomes pretty bland when he's elevated to the lead.

It's not great when you're wanting the main characters to shut up so we can focus on the sidekick. Pol is awesome. Unfortunately I'm sure he'll get his own book and turn into a boring lead like all the others.

I don't think a heroine has ruined a book for me in a long time but this psycho chick managed to do it singlehandedly. Her poor Sueven Assassin deserved so much better.
I will say Pol is a VERY interesting character and I hope we see him again.

Overall, I liked this one much better than Beast and feel like this is back on track for the series as a whole.

I liked both Tatiana and Feruz as characters and the subtle way their relationship developed based on learning about each other and being vulnerable with each other. It was a nice change of pace. At times, though, it felt like it might have been a tad too subtle - like it could have used a bit more of those "oh" moments. Nevertheless, I liked it a lot and felt it was handled really well.

Tatiana is the team doctor and takes her oath to heal and do no harm very seriously. The Roth invasion clearly had a huge impact on her personal view of self when she was forced to do things at odds with the core of who she is as a person and this book covers her having to sort of come to terms with that.

Feruz is the Suevan Assassin, a role he was given and takes seriously. Since it involves killing, Tati believes it makes them inherently incompatible but she comes to learn that there's more to Feruz than his job and that he's not bloodthirsty by nature or anything like that - it's a job that has to be done and he's capable of doing it, so he does, not something he wants to do. Feroz has his own reconciling to do - his job often takes him away from home and if he's to be with Tatiana, he doesn't want to be away from her so much.

I REALLY appreciated that Tati stood up for herself when needed. Even though she couldn't stand the violence around her, it's made very clear that she's still seen as brave and strong in her own way. Examples:
“No,” he says. “Why would I stop asking you? You are my chance at a future, at being a better male.” He throws me a smug smile, like that’s the answer I want.

I don’t give a flying monkey poo about him being a better anything, and it immediately sets me on edge.

My scowl only deepens. “That’s the problem, Feruz. I can’t be the reason you become a better version of yourself. That’s not what a spouse is for.”

AND
She might not be a warrior, like the other females, but that does not mean she is not brave. In fact, she might be all the braver for choosing nonviolence in a cruel universe.

Pol. We meet several other species in the galaxy in this book, one of which is the Draegon (or Drazox as Feruz says, which is a slur of some kind?). Pol is one such Draegon. They look and sound like a humanoid dragon in that they have wings and can breathe fire occasionally. I really wish there had been a bit more to Pol and Selene at the end of the book but I suspect (and hope!) we'll see Pol again in the Bound By Fire series.

I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series about Xade and Carmen! I'm very interested in the way they seem well matched! As Tati puts it:
“Let me get this straight—you, a doctor and one of the Federation’s top xenobiologists… are married to… Sueva’s premier biologist… and you haven’t gotten to know him better?”

This is kinda minor but I was really thrown by the mention of a third eyelid. It's been awhile since I read the last book and the rest of the series before that so I thought maybe I just forgot? But I went back through the books and the third eye is only mentioned 2-3 times in each book and I couldn't quickly find an explanation in book 1. I feel like I'm definitely missing something. Is it usually closed? Where is it located? Do they have any additional sense or sight through it? It feels bizarre to be on book six in a series and realize you've missed a prominent facial feature of the species the whole time, lol. Whoops? It's kind of weird.

💚 “You are what my heart has searched for my whole life.”
~~~
Tati is such a wonderful woman! As a physician, she’s so compassionate, smart and wants to help everyone. And she’s so sweet and soft-hearted, too. But she’s been through so much and is now dealing with serious ptsd. Nevertheless, I couldn’t help but admire her resilience, strength and courage to face her fears and overcome everything thrown her way. She’s absolutely amazing and I loved her so, so much!
And then we have Feruz - the Assassin of Sueva! That male is dangerous, stealthy and deadly. But there is so much more to him than meets the eye. Because Feruz is also patient, thoughtful, honorable, kind, and irresistibly charming. And he has such a way with words… *swoon* Even more, I absolutely loved his fierce protectiveness and possessiveness. Feruz is one magnificent male and I adored every single thing about him.
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Tati and Feruz! Since the moment they met they’ve been at odds with each other - with Tati being a pacifist and Feruz - quite her opposite (or so she thought). Now, they have a single chance to see if things could work out between them. But what was supposed to be a relaxing spa retreat quickly turned into a run for their lives. I adored those two together! Their chemistry was fantastic and I loved every moment of their banters, bickering and confessions. I loved Tati for finally managing to see beyond his job and discover the magnificent male Feruz truly is. Even more, I adored Feruz for being so patient and supportive and showing Tati a side of him she never thought existed. And the way he treated her… Every woman deserves to be treated like the Suevans treat their mates! Can someone just point me to Sueva already?! I want my own green warrior to call me his wife… *sigh* Anyway… Feruz and Tati were so perfect for each other and when they couldn’t resist the temptation anymore, the passionate moments they shared were so hot. And after everything both went through, they more than deserved to find happiness, healing, future and love together.
In addition, the storyline was phenomenal! I loved that we got to visit the spa planet even though things didn’t go according to plan. And with everything happening there, I was glued to the pages till the very end. But also… Pol! I really, really, REALLY want to learn more about this deadly and cocky assassin. And more - Feruz and cats - that was the cutest thing EVER! And finally, I’m super excited to see how things between Carmen and Xade will develop!
Overall, the story is another remarkable addition to the series! It’s filled with non-stop action, danger, suspense, humor, twists, mercenaries, unexpected rescue missions, drama, blazing hot passion and spectacular characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
