If my life could stop taking terrible turns, that would be great. After dealing with one tragedy and then another, I lose my job on top of it all. My big brother's best friend, Carter Lockwood, offers me a job at his tech firm. I'm more than qualified, but there's one problem: I haven't seen Carter in years since he took something from me and then ghosted me. Does he think we can just go back to being friends like when we were kids? And now he wants to be my boss? The fiery attraction I have for him is going to be the reason this working relationship won’t last. Until he shows me a world I didn't know existed and it makes me question everything.

My company creates apps of all kinds. Cheap ones to very expensive ones available only to the elite who can afford them. Apps that tell them where the most secretive of clubs are. And it's made me a very wealthy man. But my company is growing fast and I'm in need of help. When my childhood best friend gets locked up, I feel a responsibility to look after his younger sister, but then things go sideways and I end up failing at that most simple task. Years later, when our paths cross, I’m stunned to see that Taryn Andrews has grown into a gorgeous young woman, and when I hear she's looking for a job, I jump at the chance to hire her. She's not just beautiful, she's very smart and a quick learner. However, I have no intention of showing her the other side of my life, until she finds out anyway. And I’m not sure she’ll be the same after.
Mile High Contract is a Denver Billionaires accompaniment novel and is for readers 18+.
Carolyn lives in Colorado with her husband, who’s delivered on his promise of a happily ever after, and their daughters, who spend their parents’ money like broke little best friends instead of teenagers.
When not writing, she can be found buying too many shoes, traveling, or dreaming about traveling. You can find out more at carolyndelaneyauthor.com.
This book is such a pleasant, sexy surprise. I was immediately immersed in the story from the first page. I devoured this childhood crush -big brother's best friend -office romance in one sitting.
In this book, we meet Taryn and Carter. Taryn's brother is sent to prison and Carter her big brother's best friend does the unthinkable. Taryn deals with tragedy after tragedy. Carter is a self-made millionaire and owns a successful Tech company and employs Taryn after not seeing her for five years.
This book is captivating, angsty, and has breathtaking moments. I enjoyed the aspects of the sex club, that seriously took me by surprise. Taryn's brother Eric had my heart from the get-go and I am happy that I got to see more of him after he served his time. I can't wait to read his book.
I received this as an ARC and I’m so glad I did. I was a fun and easy read. Taryn’s story goes from rock bottom to Mole High. She is an easy character to love. Then there is Carter. He has easily elevated to my book boyfriend list. He may be a big bad CEO but when it comes to Taryn he’s the boy next door. If you want a fun steamy read you will want to pick this book.
I really hope there is a follow up book for Eric and Christa 💕
The writing feels very fanfic like. The main character is completely driving by how hot the male lead is despite having a bad history.
The things that drove me the most crazy: -A sports medicine degree does not mean you magically can work as a physical therapist. Physical therapy is a graduate degree that is required. And someone who has been in prison would not get any kind of job treating patients, no matter his degree. -The hospital system is UC Health, not CU Health. A simple google search would have told the author, but she lives in Colorado. It’s everywhere in Colorado. -Denver is not snowy and icy all winter. -The genius tech billionaire literally asks what floor the ER is. Is there any hospital anywhere that it isn’t on the first floor???
It’s a quick read if you need something quick and easy to read, just don’t expect anything high stakes or any real character development.
Update: I needed some spice in my life, so I came back and finished this one. The complaints below are still valid and I stand by my rating. HOWEVER, the spicy scenes are pretty good, and I like his possessiveness over her, even in the midst of the club. That's all I can recall from this book, though. Very unremarkable.
I tried really hard to finish this one... but I just could not. It started out so good.
I trudged my way through half the book, then decided at 55% completion that I just could not take anymore of it. The writing style was horrible. I normally don't have a preference either way of POV, but the first person POV was written so badly, that I felt like I was reading someone's diary entry.
I didn’t finish this book I couldn’t get very far into it. The sex scenes felt very juvenile and the wording made it hard to find anything about it sexy
I enjoyed Taryn and Carter’s love story. I felt like it was less second chance and more they needed to grow up and realize what was important in their lives. Both of them experienced heartbreaking loss, neither of them did well processing the grief, in that they’re very similar.
Taryn had crushed on Carter, her older brother’s best friend, forever. Carter had just started to realized that Taryn was no longer a little girl he could tease. When Taryn’s brother is given 6 years in jail for a dui she’s devastated. When Carter brings her home and they spend the night together. The problem, Taryn was a virgin and young, Carter didn’t have the emotional maturity to face Taryn, she waited for him to call and he never did. Taryn focused on finishing school and starting her career in IT and Carter dove headfirst into starting his company.
Five years later through stuff you need to read, (sorry no spoilers from me), Taryn goes to work for Carter. They’ve both grown in the last five years, they also have much clearer ideas of what they need and want in a partner. Watching them navigate a secret relationship is awkward, endearing, hot and steamy. They have hurdles to get over. I liked how Delaney makes Carter work for it, there isn’t just instant forgiveness. He’s hot, but he doesn’t have a magic eggplant. Taryn has her own insecurities to face, Carter is good at being present and supporting her.
All in all it was a very well written book lots of fun steamy parts and deeply moving emotional moments.
Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🌶️/5 Tropes: brothers best friend, second chance romance, office romance Quote: "What did Rosie O'Donnell say? Oh yeah. 'Golf is just men in ugly pants walking."

Five years later, Taryn goes to work for Carter. Watching them navigate a secret relationship is awkward, endearing, hot and steamy. They have hurdles to get over. I liked how Delaney makes Carter work for it, there isn't just instant forgiveness, no insta love here. I also LOVE how protective Carter is over Taryn, like overbearing overprotective but in the best of ways.
I do not like her being nosy. She's nosing about in computers she has no business nosing about it. Wth. That makes her a crappy & very unprofessional employee. Also, illegal by invading privacy & her boss no less. Come on, she can't be that stupid.
Now she's got her nose up in the air about a sex club because "curiosity piqued" her interest. Ugh. What a moron. Who goes to some place w/out researching what the place is to begin with? This again lessens her credibility as a character & really annoys me. Great concept for a book, but honeslty, her delivery as a character ruined it for me. 😑 also, her brother needed to have more time dealt than just 6yrs. Too forced of a timeline. Should have been at least 10yrs, 11 or 12 would have been better. Also, would have been better had it been more than 5 yrs since they saw each other. Would have upped the tension between them.
What a spicy book this one is and totally worth it because the plot line is great. If anything, the smexy times; and these are some smexy times, totally make the storyline flow better. I'm glad to see characters from her other series in this one. I'm super excited that book 2 is already published and can not wait for book 3! Even though this is a new series, the MMC and FMC are totally meant for each other, and I'm glad to see them get along with characters from this author's other series. Totally recommend, especially those of us that like a little heat with the book!!
Whether it's the thrill of the chase or the heartache of romance, Delaney brings the burn. Mile High Contract is fire and ice. Taryn and Carter deliver a tale of false starts, misunderstandings and simmering passion that aims for your heart. From the unpredictable to the inevitable, the Denver Billionaires series is temptation at it's hottest.
Carter and Taryn's story is a girlhood crush trying to come true for her. Lots of heartaches and new adventures in life to get through though. Would love to see Eric's story written. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
What a great story! I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with Carter and Taryn. This story grabs you from chapter 1 and doesn't let go. Great mix of romance and angst. I loved seeing characters from the other books in this series. I highly recommend picking up this book!
This story will keep you on your toes! All the angst and build up you could ever want! And did I say hot? I mean melt your I urge panties off hot! Carter knows how to take things to a level 10!! Run and grab you a copy before you miss out!
I loved this story. It truly was a right person wrong time. Technically it was a second chance but i felt like the timing was off. They grew up and became different people. The backstory is good, steamy scenes and a great love story.
He says she could have called him and that a phone work both ways. That he didnt expect five years to go by. But this jerk took her virginity and left. You were supposed to reach out. I cannot with him.
Standard romance. Possibly closer to 2.5 stars. Actually, possibly closer to 1 star for use of the phrase “lady lips”. And also the title is a far stretch. A faaaaarrrr stretch to being related to the book.
This is probably one of the sauciest books I have ever read! If you are looking for a highly detailed smutty book then this is for you!!! I would prefer for the story to have my sustenance than just smut however I must say those scenes were written extremely well!
The wording in this book needed help and the plot felt like I was trudging through a teenagers poorly written diary. A thesaurus for the sex scenes may have helped as some of the words used in the way they were just really needed to be different words.
This is a good book. A lot of books are more sex and no story line. Find out what happens Between the girls childhood crush and her brother Eric along with his best friend.
This is another new to me author. The story, an older brother's best friend forbidden romance, has great characters. Even the peripheral characters pique your interest to the point of speculation. Who might get their own story? Set in Denver it's got a simple plot with a twist or two and a moderate amount of spice. I'm looking forward to reading the next one!
