The story is a solid 3.5-4.5 star book. This is true for the entire series.

But it gets an automatic one start for using an AI audio narrator instead of getting an actual narrator to save money or whatever. There are tons and tons of narrators out there who are just starting, good and don’t need a paycheck for their work. Many work off audiobook sales or even credits (I know from experience with said narrators.)

AI “art” is lazy and a theft of real people creating art.

So Forgotten is book eight in the Faith Bold series by Blake Pierce. FBI Special Agent Faith Bold and her partner, FBI Special Agent Mike Prince, caught another intrigue case of a serial killer who puts people into abandoned storm shelters and silos in the rural Midwest. On arrival, Faith and Mike had no idea where to start finding the killer. The readers of So Forgotten will continue to follow FBI Special Agent Faith Bold and her partner, FBI Special Agent Mike Prince.

I enjoy the way Blake Pierce intertwines the two plots in his stories, which ensures that I engage with his books. So, Forgotten kept up my interaction with the characters and story. I learn about rural Midwest USA. I like the way Blake Pierce portrays mental illness, which got me thinking about mental illness and what we as a community can do to help people with mental illness.

I love Blake Pierce's portrayal of his characters and the way they interact with each other throughout this book. So Forgotten is well written and researched by Blake Pierce. I like Blake Pierce's description of the settings of So Forgotten, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

I recommend this book.

I would have given this 4/5 instead of 3/5, since the storyline is excellent (you do need to read or listen from the beginning of the series to appreciate it) but the narration is beyond horrible. PLEASE stop using the artificially generated narration. It's riddled with bizarre made-up words which exasperates the already harder to follow voice because of a British accent. The loud, abrupt nonsensical noises are irritating and takes away from losing oneself in the story. The voices changing for each character would be fine except that half the time the artificial narrator mixes them up and applies the wrong voice to the wrong character - would be better if they were all the same. Also, sometimes a character will speak MUCH louder and hurt my ears. I have to lower the volume but then can't hear the rest of the narration that is less blaring. Utterly horrible narration! If I weren't hooked on Faith Bold's journey, I'd give up. This is unfair to the author. Oh, and half the time Faith's partner's name is said as "Mikail" rather than his real name of "Michael" - even a British accent wouldn't normally completely change the character's name. I know what Michael sounds like when said in a British accent and it isn't "Mikail" as though Russian.

I am so frustrated with this series. I usually like Blake Pierce series. I have read many of them but this just sucks. Faith Bold is one of the worst Female leads ever! I have now completed 8 books. I still do not know the outcome of the main serial killer. Each book is redundant and I am considering skipping to the last book just to end it all.

This book is the most disturbing to date. Faith totally unhinged in her obsession to find the copycat killer. She is driving all of her support away with her paranoid behavior. Even with the bad decision making, she is still able to solve this latest serial killer and bring him to justice. This book ends badly but leaves room for the hunt to continue.

This story was good, but there were several issues with the audiobook edition. The reading was too fast, clipped, and full of mispronunciations. There were also these weird random blips of sound at irregular intervals. The editing must have been weak. The intonation in conversations was erratic, and the volume changed. This must be I.A. done poorly. Even the main character's name was randomly mispronounced as well as locations and several common words. Very disappointing and a bit frustrating.

So Lost was also read too quickly, rather deadpan, and some mispronunciations. Disappointing.
