Wow what a novel? Romance, action, intrigue, espionage. Madhuri Tamse does it again. She captured her readers in this Gamble called life. Ayaan and Meher. Loved both characters, was rooting for them all the way. Was left in a cliffhanger. Now I can't wait for the next installment. Hope it's soon 🤗. Well done Madhuri. Your books are fabulous. It still has the Indian touch which I love. My favourite author 🤗

Love is powerful and makes one do everything beyond their limit. But at the same time, it blinds you to see the reality and truth.

Ayaan Shergil is the epitome of power, emotions, love, and the king of every game. His signature piece of chess 'A black king' defines himself. Always ready, alert, and attentive, and overall he is a player who plays to win.

Meher Walia, daughter of Deputy CM, firm decision maker, Queen of the game, and oops😲 is she the queen??? Well, that is something we need to figure out.

The genre politics is not an easy trope to write as there are many expectations from the readers when it comes to showing power, limitless boundaries, boldness, secrets, and reveals. But Madhuri has done this job quite smoothly by keeping her readers on the edge throughout with so many twists, turns, games, planning, and the mind-blowing end.
I have always adored Madhuri's writing, especially her characterization, her heroes are always a 'man to die for'. She is keeping her female readers crazy behind her heroes.
The story has all the pointers of a blockbuster movie. The characters, the aura, the plot, the twists, and the end blew my mind and left me with a cliffhanger. The twist was unexpected and appeared out of nowhere. Before I could manage to hold my excitement I was left flabbergasted. I mean how can an author give you so many reasons to love her and her writing? Yes, Madhuri has done that with a style.

I can't miss out on the conversation between Vishnu and Simran, it was the most hilarious one 🤣🤣. Simarn's flirting with Vishnu, and the Hulk blushing 😅😅😅 made that scene a memorable one.

Though this was the most awaited story by the author, the wait was worth it. I have so many scenes coming to mind and making me recall the visuals. A great read with a brilliant script, a must-read without delay.

A gripping Political drama

Madhuri definitely knows how to weave a story out of the most unexpected. My heart goes out to Ayan and Meher is so very interesting. The vivid details of every minuscule thing are what make it a great read where every word written has got importance at the climax. And Whoa!!! What a twist!!!
An unputdownable, gripping yet swoon-worthy romantic novel that has smart Bollywood references and witty humour!!
An absolute stunner!!

The Political Romance Trilogy by @madhuritamse
The Gamble
The Maze
The Checkmate

I avoid reading trilogies, but I read this only because it was written by Madhuri, and I m a big fan of her writing. And i m so glad i read it... she is one of the few authors who can express emotions so well. You immediately connect to the characters and even relate to them long after the book is over

Most trilogies, i feel, are dragged in between, and you lose grip of the storyline. But she has done total justice to all 3 books

The story moves forward with every book and keeps you hooked on till the end. The multiple POV's in the last book just add to the interest level as you get to know what and how each character thinks... that was definitely a plus

I m glad the story just din't stick to the romance and intimacy of the main couple all the time and moved forward, taking them along as the main lead and giving equal importance to the supporting characters too

The twists and turns and surprises in the plot makes it feel like a super duper 80s-90s bollywood movie plot... I can even imagine the cast in my mind 😜and see all the dhishum dhishum happening 😂😂 definitely worth making a bollywood masala

Read this if u haven't read it yet. The end of the first book may make u feel like, what next- most of it is done- shud I read the other 2 - but picture abhi baaki hai mere dost... so don't just stop there. Keep reading and u will love it even more 😘

Stage is set for a blockbuster run

Madhuri has outdone herself with The Gamble. Her most awaited book and it truly lives up to the hype.

I've always said this that no one can love Madhuri's heroes the way she does, not even her heroines. After having created countless heartthrobs through her books, Madhu is here yet again with another head Turner - Ayaan Shergill. The swag with which he is presented by Madhu is swoonworthy. She makes us drool over even jerkish heroes, so imagine her waving her magic wand for a charming, righteous softie! Yup we have no choice but to be floored. That said, Madhu I'm surprised by your characterisation of Ayaan. From the time you dropped the news of this political trilogy and all the material that came in later, I expected another ruthless or roguish hero who is going to gamble like a king to win our hearts. Ayaan is entirely different from what I expected. But let's see how his arc goes in the next two books. For now, you surprised me. Good one.

But what had me hooked to the book was, Meher Wahlia. Madhu is known for her soft heroines and even when they are presented as independent or sassy there is a Madhurish innocence that they carry which don't let them cross certain parameters. But Meher breaks that stereotype with style. She carries innocence but she is no angel. But she does not embody the typical elements of baddassary too. It's like a nice blend of innocence and badass and woah Madhu won me with that. I'm team Meher no matter how her arc goes from here.

I mean from Madhu I expect stories that strongly aid her hero to have the field and play it. But here she has a queen as her heroine who plays it to the gallery without altering a strand of the lovable charming heroine prototype. The way Meher is presented, you get to know each & every thought of hers yet you are left clueless like Ayaan at the end. I don't know how to explain but Meher comes off strongly through the pages for me. I love her. Period.

Among the side characters Simran & Vishnu stood out obviously and I completely adored their flirting at her apartment so much so that I want to request for their separate story. Simran, another fiesty character from you, Madhu. Bring it on.

Scenes had cinematic quality aka visual impact. The barricade scene I could totally visualise it in my mind. Even Ayaan's introduction. And the credit goes to the way Madhu presented it. Superb, whistle worthy scenes.

The chemistry between the leads is sweet and fierce in equal proportion. I don't know how you managed it but there were scenes where I felt they were cute and then some pages it was getting really hot. Well done, Madhu.

A standout scene for me is Meher's proposal. She was fiesty fierce but also logical in her reaction to the rejection. She had me then and there. Feistiest heroine from your stable, Madhu. I'm eager to see how you present her in next parts. She has all the potential to stand tall to a hero and wage war and it would be so exciting to see King and Queen fighting it out.

Though I saw the ending coming, you really kept it tight and neat where I felt a thrilling bgm that had intonations of heartbreak playing out. Totally set the stage for the future blockbuster awaiting. Now just drop that book, already, ma'am.

“You cannot play at Chess if you are kind-hearted”

The famous French proverb is the ultimate gist of Madhuri’s new novel ‘The Gamble.’ Before I start pouring down the outburst of my emotions for this part of trilogy, let me first compliment Madhuri for choosing this kind of intense theme. Though it has an enemies- to- lovers trope but it’s far ahead from the regular stories that we read. Of course being a contemporary romance it has all the elements but fit the first time I was not really interested in lovey-dovey banters between the protagonists & the palpable thick tension between them. I didn’t care how Meher & Ayaan would eventually fall in love… of course that was bound to happen & trust me this is not the way I generally react while reading romance. With every chapter I was more intrigued with the suspense building up & that was the adrenaline kick for me.

Since the beginning of the story, you could look into the head of the King Aayan Shergill- a whole world of feelings, images, ideas, emotion and passion & a zeal to win but…. The mistakes were also there on the board, of course waiting to be made.

I would divide the first part of this trilogy into three stages: the first, when Ayaan had the over confidence that he had all the advantage, the second when he believed that despite falling for his enemy’s daughter he still thought he had the advantage and the third... when his plans starts getting screwed up because of his over confidence and blind trust in his lady love.

Story theme is simple… Pratap Walia & Kailash Shergill have conflict of opinion & political interest Meher a caged princess struggling with her wings to fly across the sky meets a hot-headed stud Aayan & of course ‘PYAR TO HONA HI THA’ reverberates in the background 😉.

Enmity between the parents but kids falling in love we have seen enough… all thanks to Bollywood. I have read this theme repeatedly in most of the Desi & international Mafia romances where you can predict the entire story in advance but trust me when I say you won’t be able to handle the climax suspense. I mean… I was like how this could be?

As the climax started building up I knew he’s going to lose but how?? This is something where you’d see and feel Madhuri’s brilliance. Phew… it’s a cliffhanger and I am hanging on a thin thread of patience.

All I can say this is a phenomenal piece of work & shows Madhuri’s journey as an author. She has not written this like a typical romance author would. Except few in the mid where you’d find glimpses of Madhuri’s dreamy sweet clean romance scenes, every other chapter is intense & unfolds something new. You’d struggle to find out is Pratap Walia really a villain or is it Aksh? And that brooding rook Vishnu will overpower your senses especially in the last scene… as it is said move in silence & speak only when it’s a checkmate. Damn it!! Why it had to be cliffhanger… I hate it as my mind is still reeling up.

As always it was wonderful to read your book Maddy but this time all I can say you’ve outgrown from a typical romance author style and that’s what I liked the most. Kudos to you for taking this step & I am sure this is going to be your best work so far… All the very best.

A book that combines my two loves, Mystery & Romance, is always special.

Ayaan, raised in Austria, comes to India when his father, a social activist, is in trouble. A papa’s boy, he reveres his Dad and stays back to help him with his mission, a power project that is facing a roadblock, thanks to his arch enemy. Ayaan, coincidentally bumps into Meher, the daughter of his father’s enemy at a boutique. Sparks fly and attraction flares, but Ayaan keeps his feelings at bay, as he knows it has no future and doesn’t want to hurt his Dad. Meher, on the other hand, is blown away by Ayaan, and tries all tricks in the book to lure him, but without success. But one misunderstanding occurs and breaks Ayaan’s iron control and he accepts Meher’s love.

Hereby, lies their greatest challenge. There are innumerable hurdles to cross with her cousin Aksh’s dislike towards Ayaan, to Meher’s dad fixing her marriage, to their bodyguard Vishnu, keeping a keen eye on them. Additionally, there’s an unseen threat lurking around Ayaan, with someone wanting to harm him. Will the all-powerful King be able to save his Queen from the perils in store for them? Or will he end up losing it all in the process?

I love the banter, the fire, the chemistry and the love between Ayaan and Meher. They both complement each other beautifully. He is righteous, level-headed and sharp to her spunk, childlike innocence and impulsiveness. She’s the yin to his yang. Their repartees are funny and their desperation to meet each other without their bodyguards genuine. Their meeting at her friend Simran's house is hilarious. I dig Simran’s boldness and her interactions with Vishnu. Also the relationship between Ayaan and his dad is depicted wonderfully, showing what lengths can a son go to, just to bring a smile on his dad’s face. Vishnu comes across as mysterious, presenting a queer façade. His face-off with Ayaan in the end evokes goosebumps, leaving you with a question mark. The climax is powerful and nail-biting with an unexpected twist, leaving you baffled, and I can’t wait for book 2. An edge of the seat read, this is highly recommended.

Every book you read is special journey!
This book although has not reached the destination makes sure readers have the absolute pleasure while traveling.

When I started reading the first page of the book there was a lot of tension between the pages. The storyline intrigues readers right from the initial moment when someone tries to kidnap Ayaan and thus begins a rollercoaster ride of mind-boggling incidents. The characters are so delicately developed that we can see their development arch right from Meher's brother, brother-in-law, to her bodyguard and friend. There's a lot of internal stories keeping the readers hooked. The plot has mixed incidents throwing light on the political upheaval, dark secrets, cunningness, power politics and the deadly consequences.

And finally the chemistry between Ayaan and Meher is too hot to handle. Their chemistry is amazing, thrilling. They are definitely a power-couple. They had a meet-cute and from their first encounter I started shipping them. Their strategic plans to meet each other, video calls have a special place in my heart. Although the end..let's not give any spoiler but I am just crazily waiting for the sequel.

This is a journey of two people who have been caught up in the family rivalry from many years.
Ayaan Shergill, son of a social reformer, standing strong behind his father who is on a mission to help his father but finds himself resisting to fall in love with his father's arch enemy in politics.
While Ayaan Shergill always tries to gamble like the king is drawn towards the caged princess Meher Walia, the daughter of deputy chief minister.

Can two rivalries become friends? Is there an mystery or an alternative motive behind love? Who is playing the dirty politics? And most importantly who is ruling and playing this gamble?

To know more, read this extremely intriguing, fast-paced romance mystery thriller.

1st read of 2024 and 1st 5-star read of 2024.

What a mindblowing start to 2024. I loved every bit of The Gamble. The plot and execution were commendable. I was hooked on the story from the very beginning. The sizzling hot attraction between Aayan and Meher is swoon-worthy. Every character is crafted meticulously. Aayan is my new favorite book boyfriend. Meher's character is a mixture of innocence and sass. The climax was shocking. Going to read the next book in the series soon. Overall a fantastic read, recommend to all romance lovers

This book has such stellar reviews I went in expecting it to be a Race 2 but this was machine, yikes.
I hate insta love and Ayaan Shergill- Meher Walia fell head over heels in love after meeting what 2 times. She is gorgeous and he could be featured in GQ- sounds like a Koffee with karan episode intro- and they are heirs to warring fathers. I legit read 200 pages before I could not take it anymore and I skimmed through the rest of the novel because it was 397 pages of he is gorg and so easily engorged and she is so beautiful and different (read bimbo) . The characters are so confused and utterly 1 dimensional and Ayaan refers to himself in 3rd person, good heavens. The no. of times Meher called Ayaan, Ayaan Shergill would give Alia Bhatt's Isha in Bhramastra (with her Shiva) a run for the money. Hell, the no. of times Ayaan called himself Ayaan Shergill would leave Meher bankrupt.
The entirity of the romance with queen and King stuff was so cringe but the open door smut scenes more so. The sex scenes were nauseating and TMI- I did not have any interest in knowing if Ayaan prefers the front or the back in women, but find out I did much to my horror (If you want to know, Ayaan is ventrally inclined).
The only saving grace in this book was the last chapter with its cliff hanger. If Meher really betrayed Ayaan (which i highly doubt), I must say the self concieted fool deserved it but If she didn't betray him and was blackmailed into acting as if she betrayed him then both the annoying dorks deserve it for making readers lose grey cells over their utterly foolish selves. Meher was so annoying, I don't think it is possible to slit your wrist while cutting fruits. Who hates someone just beacause they told you to eat healthy? Her whole sappy existence was so ugh. Ayaan, Mr. I Love my Dad was always like I am the King and he was the King of Misbeliefs and delusion- he thought himself intelligent he wasn't, he thinks he is a lady magnet he isn't, he thinks he is Sherdil but he is a buzzkill.
The only okayish characters were Kailash Shergill, Bhaskar, Devika Bhabhi even Pratap Walia was better than his daughter.
I hate giving 1 star reviews because at the end of the day it's the author's blood, sweat and tears but spade is a spade or should I say a rook can't cook...

📚📚 REVIEW 📚📚

Book        :  The Gamble (Political Romance Trilogy Book 1)
Author     :   @madhuritamse
Ratings    :   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Politics and Chess—two captivating words, where the next move of opponents remains unknown. 'The Gamble,' the first book of the Political Trilogy, was a blend of age-old political rivalry and the love story of a young couple. The author masterfully combines elements of entertainment, suspense, mystery, romance, and action.

This narrative stands distinct from the author's previous works, showcasing each character with a nuanced reference to chess pieces.

Ayaan Shergill, the righteous and central character, was the soul of this political drama, entangled in a romance with Meher Walia, the fierce, bold, yet innocent daughter of his father's adversary. Amidst political turmoil between their fathers, their love story unfolds with unexpected twists and turns, reaching a truly unpredictable climax.

Ayaan's love and respect for his father, Kailash Shergill, were exceptionally pure, admirable, and heartfelt. Reading such a bond of unconditional love, unwavering support, and respect  was truly one of the plot's highlights.

I usually appreciate the way side characters play their roles, but very rarely do I find them interesting. However, with this story, I found myself deeply invested in the side characters. Vishnu's over-possessive demeanor actually made his character quite mysterious, leaving room for further exploration. Aksh's character intrigued me, Devika's unwavering support and Simran's witty interactions with Vishnu brought humor into the narrative. Additionally, Krish, who played an important role in Ayaan's quest, was an interesting character too.

I thoroughly enjoyed delving into the intricacies of each character, each contributing a unique essence to this gripping story. As a reader, I could feel the long-standing history of animosity between their fathers, and I can't wait to explore more about each character in the next installment of this Political drama.

Meet the Indian queen of 'Romance thriller Storytelling'. One of the most brilliantly written books with a captivating and dramatic plot, enthralling journey of love, unfolding of truth, facets of politics, corruption, power, rivalry, money and the gamble for love. This book left me awestruck with the vivid imagination through which I could visualise the story like a movie, right in front of my eyes. Kudos to the crafty narration of the author, and her powerful vocabulary. The author has a natural flair for writing, and her imagination, plot building, character development, and the ability to keep the readers hooked till the end are ulterior. The story revolves around the protagonists Ayaan and Meher, and their deeply integrated family rivalries, the introduction of their social status, and their actual realities. What would start with a mere infatuation between Ayaan and Meher would flourish into love or envy, would they rise above their family rivalries, and see the truth for themselves? A lot of twists and turns await you, as you turn the pages. Though, the story seems like a mature script that can be adopted for the making of a remarkable movie, yet it is always in the essence of the book that the character and the tiny details between the pages unfold dramatically. There could be no better title for this book then "Gamble", because throughout the narration you'll find that the Characters are either at the stake of the gambling pedestal, or gamblers themselves, or the ones who are facing the consequences of the hidden dark secrets of corruption, the power, and deceit. And when the truth would unravel itself, and a daughter who has been no less than a princess for her father, would know his dirty secrets, would she accept him, forgive him, or go against him? Will Meher and Ayaan gamble for love, and how would these characters unfold themselves amidst the twists and turns and the roller coaster ride of an adventure-filled plot. You need to read this masterpiece.

"In a Game of Power and Passion, Every Move Is a Gamble of the Heart."

The Gamble is the perfect curtain-raiser to a political romance trilogy by Madhuri Tamse. The author has portrayed every character brilliantly, and the plot is well-crafted—setting the stage for an even bigger sequel.

Coming to the main leads, Ayaan Shergill and Meher Walia share sizzling chemistry right from their very first encounter. Their relationship is forbidden; as their fathers are arch-rivals making their every moment even their mere interaction sets scandalous sparks flying—after all, she's the daughter of the Deputy CM, and he’s the son of a fearless social activist.

The character arcs are powerful. Ayaan’s constant push and pull between duty and desire reflects his emotional turmoil and shows the vulnerability of the King, even though he’s intelligent and strategic. Meher, on the other hand, has all the makings of a perfect Queen—bold, strong-willed, quick-witted, and with a touch of sass. She longs to spread her wings, to break free from the clutches of her powerful family, and to stop being a puppet in their political game.

The narrative is gripping, and the writing flows effortlessly. The climax is refreshingly unexpected—a perfect cliffhanger that leaves you eager for the sequel.

The title fits like a glove—it truly is a gamble of emotions between the King’s righteousness and the Queen’s deception.
Who will win this gamble and take the upper hand?
Will risking everything—hearts, loyalties, and beliefs—be worth it?
And what role do the Knight and the Rook play in this grand game?

To find out, read The Gamble by Madhuri Tamse—available now on Amazon Kindle Unlimited.

Madhuri Tamse's "The Gamble" weaves a captivating tale of mystery, romance, and political intrigue. Ayaan, drawn back to India by his father's social cause, unexpectedly crosses paths with Meher, the daughter of his father's rival, setting the stage for a love story entangled in family disapproval and hidden dangers. The enchanting connection between Ayaan and Meher, coupled with the heartfelt depiction of the bond between father and son, adds a profound layer to the narrative. Tamse's skill shines through in crafting a gripping romantic novel infused with political nuances that will keep readers hooked from start to finish and I couldn't resist diving into the second book (The Maze) right after finishing "The Gamble."

I absolutely love romantic thrillers, and cherry on the top is when it is based on Indian backdrop. The beginning of the story was nothing extraordinary but then 20 percent in and I got hooked to it. Ayaan and meher's chemistry is well portrayed. And the supporting cast (Devika, Vishnu, Simran) I liked everyone. The power play between the protagonists was also nice. I kinda had expected the ending as I had read all the blurbs of the trilogy, still felt bad for Ayaan. Overall a nice read.

Was intrigued from the first word...

Can't wait to read book 2. Madhuri has a very easy style of writing- this whole story is unfolding in a conversation and she's the one narrating it. Have read a few of her other books, but this I must say is the icing on the cake. Presume the next one is the cherry on top...

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet my new fictional crush Ayaan Shergil!!!!!!
Ufff!! saying that I like this book is an understatement. I devoured this book within a day😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
Ayaan & Meher were never destined to be together, with their fathers being political rivals since years they were supposed to hate each other, but one chance encounter and everything changed😉
Will their love be enough to conquer all the obstacles, or, will the animosity between their families destroy their one chance of finding love with each other?🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
.
From the introductory scene itself, this book was a fun ride to be in. I am a huge fan of South Indian action movies, and, I believe those movies have everything, action, romance, comedy amazing characters. The entire time I was reading the book felt as if I was watching one such a super hit movie.
Madhuri Tamse has gotten me hooked and now, 2 weeks after finishing this book, I still cannot stop thinking about Ayaan and Meher😻😻😻😻
And not only the lead couple even the side characters have some amazing storylines to go forward, I would love to read Vishnu & Simran and Devika & Aksh's story sometime in the future (but in their own book please😁😁😁😁😁😁)

A gripping tale

I was never into political backdrop romance but this book kept me hook. The book is well written by the author with perfectly crafted characters, an engaging storyline till the end. I can't wait to read other 2 books or triology.

High stakes, scorching chemistry, and a hero who doesn’t play fair—The Gamble is a gripping ride through obsession, power, and a dangerously addictive romance. For readers who love dark twists and emotional turmoil.
