Jax & Riley were made for each other.

Riley had low self esteem due to her ex boyfriend. He used to call her stupid, useless, & pointed out all her failures. On top of that she had a large family & everyone had achieved lofty goals. All she had done was finished high school. She went through a semester of nursing school before moving & having to find a job. Then she had to start saving money again to afford going back to nursing school. Because of all of this she considered herself a failure. The names her ex called her kept playing on repeat in her head. She even thought she was ugly. And if she snorted while laughing her ex called her a pig. How can you say you love someone & treat them like dirt?

Jax's past has always been a mystery that only a few people knew. He was basically embarrassed that he was still so hung up on his past. Sure there were people that had a worse life than him growing up. However, having your mom leave at 8 years old & your dad leave you a year later would be hard on any child. His dad had left him at the babysitters & he never came back. Jax was put into the foster care system. He never had any friends until he was in a group home. Nd one day a big muscular kid named Mike came to the home. Jax gave him a candy bar to welcome him. Later he learned no one had ever given him anything before. When they went to school Jax was being bullied by 4 kids. Mike took them on & told them from now on if they hurt Jax, Mike would kill them. Of course, they got suspended for two weeks for that. They became blood brothers & best friends after that. Mike taught Jax to skateboard & other sports that I doubt Jax would have had the courage to do. One day in high school they were skateboarding and Mike fell & died. It turns out he had a heart attack. There was nothing anyone could have done. But this was a pivotal moment in Jade's life because it's what made him decide to be a doctor. Jax was on his way to a conference & to take time to look at a storage locker his dad had left him after he died. He was at the Houston airport. He was walking around & he noticed a beautiful woman who was being followed by two men. Jax knew that woman was in trouble. He offered to buy her lunch.

Riley had forgotten her keys at work. When she went back to find them her computer was on along with a thumb drive plugged into it. She was curious so she takes a quick look. What she found made her sick. Her boss was a trafficker of women & children. There was a lot more on there & she could be caught at any moment. She grabbed the thumb drive & ran. She went straight to the police. When they asked who she worked for the policeman started acting strange & said she needed to talk to a detective. While he left to get him she ran. Realizing her boss had more reach than just politicians. When she got to her apartment she noticed two guys trying to get into the building. She took her car pulled out cash on her credit card and threw her phone away. She bought a plane ticket to get out of Houston.

Cue the hot doctor looking at the clearance rack. Riley couldn't believe her luck see a hot guy who wants to take you on a date when someone is trying to kill her. As much as she wants to say no because she doesn't want him to get hurt she needs a way to disguise herself. They are looking for a woman alone not with someone. They eat the bad guys see them afterwards & shoot. Jax saves her & they end.up driving to Las Vegas. Riley was freaking out because they were trying to kill her. I don't know why she thought they wouldn't. And the rest is their wild race to North Carolina after a stop at Los Vegas. That's where the storage unit is & a safe house.

I’m not really used to books mixing romance with action but I really enjoyed Jax! I already read a few books by this author and really loved them so I gave it a try. It’s HEA and clean.
Riley is genuine, we understand that they are real but that they are so attracted to one another that they’re blind to their physical imperfections. The author succeeds in making us understand that they’re perfect for each other but they’re totally ‘normal’!
I loved the little touches of humor here and there: in the middle of their trip to hide from the criminals who are after them Riley falls and hurts herself. Jax is a doctor and asks her to look at her knees and she doesn’t want to show them because she has “hairy legs”. He makes fun of it and says it doesn’t matter! I’ve been in this situation before, it’s so comforting to read the story of characters who seem real and not “plastic perfect”!!!

My only reservation is that I think they fell a bit early and where flirting while in danger, it was a bit strange seeing they were hunted by dangerous criminals. I’m not sure that if my life were on stake I’d take time to enjoy the butterflies but we’re all different after all and I enjoyed the love story and the action!

Jax by Bree Livingston (5 stars)

I loved the book! I downed it in 2 days and only put it down on day one because I needed sleep! Lots of dodging the bad guys and the reader is left trying to figure out how the bad guys keep finding our intrepid hero and heroine.

This book starts off with a bang and just keeps going! (And their flirting is SO CUTE!)

At one part, she tells him that being a good listener is all she has to offer and that there’s no expiration date on it. That’s what good relationships are made of. That was a beautiful moment in the book.

The characters are both broken and insecure in different ways, but they help one another see themselves and their pasts differently. They see how their pasts prepared them to meet one another and be prepared to have a healthy relationship.

It was easy to see that this relationship would stand the test of time.

Raised in the foster system, Dr. Jax Kelly went to Houston to follow through on a letter from his dad but hadn’t gathered the nerve. Looking at the distracted, terrified woman who bumped into him, Jax was certain he’d just met his future. He hinted to give Riley openings to tell him what she was afraid of but she wouldn’t. When he saw thugs man handling the tiny female, he didn’t care what the problem was, she wasn’t going through it alone.

Necessity made secretary Riley Vance take the job she had though her boss felt sliming, it also had her return to the office, curiosity made her look at the screen showing his public and private personas were opposites on her desktop, anger made her snatch the thumb drive and take it with her, fear made her run and luck had her meeting Dr. Jax Kelly at the airport. But she didn’t know out how her boss’ thugs kept finding her!

Jax: Guardian Group Security

Awesome story that has danger, suspense, and romance. Riley Vance manages to get caught up in something she shouldn’t have. When she accidentally found a flash drive plugged into her work computer after going back to retrieve her keys she didn’t know it would be putting her into so much danger. She only knew that it had to be revealed to the proper authorities. Dr. Jax Kelly had no plans to help a damsel in danger when he bumped into her at the airport but he could not stand by and watch. He is determined to keep her safe until she is able to get her information to the right people.

I love the Guardian Group and it was fun to read about them again. Jax and Riley have an interesting meet cute and although he's not usually the one in on the action he can tell she needs help and jumps in. I loved the relationship between these two. They both had things to work through, but they were so good together. I enjoyed getting to know Jax better and seeing what a great guy he is. The suspense was mild and the romance sweet.

Even though this is part of a series you can enjoy this story without reading the other books first.

This book is proof that advertising works. Never heard of this author before an ad popped up

Anywho: the uthor didn't allow you to pull from the story. Every step of the way you were told how to feel and what would happen from those feeling

You were not told or involved in this love story, you were told these are the feelings you should have at this time. So when they got married I didn't care.

The action and suspense were ok. This book wasn't terrible but I need more context and less narration

can't say I'm a fan now but I might read another book in the series

A doctor for a security group runs into the love of his life.

Loved being back with the Guardian Group again. Jax and Riley story was exciting from start to finish. Their chance meeting would put Jax into protection mode and on the run. But as they were together heading back for his friends they fell in love. The bad guy was a total jerk he had it in for them every step of the way. Jax almost didn't make it out. Looking forward to the rest of the stories in this series plus the ones in the other series that I haven't read.

This is a sweet, clean romance. No swearing, no sex. Some passionate kisses but nothing more than that. The suspense is mild, nothing scary, nothing gory. It is part of a series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. This is Jax, the doctor on the Guardian team’s story. There really isn’t much interaction or information about The Guardian team throughout the story, only a small amount at the end. I liked it.

I could not put this book down. It grabbed me from the first page and would not let me go. I liked how Riley bumped into Jax at the airport and he knew she was in trouble. The book had a lot of fast paced, heart pounding action in it that did not stop until the epilogue.
I really liked the characters, the story, and how the book ended. I now want to read the first two books in the series. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

A well written suspense romance: Riley is running for her life after discovering her boss’ real profession is human trafficking. She narrowly escapes her boss’ henchmen in an airport with the help of a stranger, Jax, and now they are both on the run. Can Jax’s boss, The Guardian Security, help them? Will love develop between Jax and Riley?
I would highly recommend this book and the series.

All the action I expect from Bree Livingston’s Guardian Group series. As group doctor Jax is an unexpected active savior. Riley knows she has major trouble, she just doesn’t realize she has help. The book contains the romance, humor, danger and twists and turns I enjoy. Now I have to wait patiently for the next book.

Clean romantic suspense

This is a sweet romantic suspense book that is a bit too syrupy in parts for me. It is a nice romance with a happy ending. The suspense is adventurous. Entertaining.

Fantastic

Bree Livingston has done it again. Brought characters to life that are rich and quirky at the same time. The intense attraction and sting will of two people on the run surviving numerous attacks, while encouraging the other to keep going was spectacular!

Jax and Riley and doing right

This book was rich in characters and scenery. It showed doing the right thing comes with some surprises. It talks about family and loneliness. It talks about finding joy in the potholes life presents. Read on to find out what that means.

I really liked this one. Usually books of this length leave you feeling like pieces are missing. Not this one-the story and the characters are fully developed. It's a whirlwind romance with danger as the catalyst for their deepening feelings. But Jax and Riley connect on more than just the surface. This works as a standalone! But you get a few characters from the rest of the series as well. Note: I am an ARC reader for this book
