Bags are packed, passports are updated, and it’s time to travel to Scotland!

Lela and Mae are so excited at the prospect of meeting their extended family and discovering how to break the curse on the coins, cauldron, and Florie. They’ve come so far since moving back to Tennessee, surely nothing else will go wrong.

Hang on a minute… Bertha’s all ready to go, complete with mysterious clear liquid-filled mason jars in her checked bag, but where’s Harriet?

Oh, crud. She’s gone. Did something horrible happen to her?

The twins can’t possibly fly overseas until they find Harriet.

The problem quickly turns into a fiasco when nobody can locate her. Mae is beside herself with worry and it's all Lela can do to keep her twin from going crazy.

Ted and Joseph help all they can, in their supportive boyfriend kind of way, and the coven pulls out all the stops to find Harriet. Still, she’s nowhere to be found.

When Harriet finally resurfaces, she’s full of information about their family, the curse, sin eaters and the world in general.

If there’s one lesson the twins have learned, it’s that things aren’t always as they seem. Harriet is about to give her family a big eye-opening, worry-filled adventure.

First, a good deed has the twins chasing all over while trying to reunite some missing pets with their owners. Then, just as they’re about to be off mining the roots of their family tree for answers, the twins are off chasing again. This time to reunite a missing Harriet with her family. Lela and Mae end up discovering several things about their family: new powers, new spells, and new secrets. I’m already excited to see where the authors will take this series next.

This is book five of the Wears Valley Witches series and twins Lela and Mae Cable are getting ready for their trip to Scotland, where they are looking to break the curs holding Florie in the cauldron, and the gold coins that put people in it. But before that, Bertha turns up and brings a large amount of supplies with her, telling them she is going along with them! Before they go, they have a case from the local police, who is also part of their coven, as there are reports of lots of pets going missing. It seems they are all purebreds and have disappeared from local parks and even the local vet and pet rescue centre. It takes up a lot of their time, going to various pet owners and speaking to the owners and even any other pets or wild animals around, who might have seen something. Dangers comes for them and their boyfriends as they find some suspicious signs of animal traps and focus on a lead from Bertha about someone who was previously a shady breeder of exotics. It takes an amount of coven backup to catch those responsible and reunite all the owners. They have lots of support from Ted and Joseph for that, who then ask if they can meet them in Scotland, making their way the conventional way and hoping to enjoy some of the sights and sounds of Scotland with their girlfriends, once they have finished with their magical part of the journey. That sounds like a great idea and the sisters are happy for them to come along and they have already arranged time off work to come.

While Bertha distracts them, the rest of the coven have come into their back garden to celebrate the twin’s birthday before they leave for Scotland the next day. Towards the end of the evening, they look to say goodbye to Harriet, but can’t find her! She is nowhere to be seen and everyone starts looking for her, inside the house and out, but no one can find her. Harriet’s mother Mae is struggling to cope and Lela does all she can to help keep her sane. Everyone in the coven looks through all their grimoires to see if there is a way to locate her, after a normal locating spell doesn’t show her anywhere. Clearly Harriet’s ability to turn invisible is somehow connected and Bertha’s new beau, Maynard, turns up with the oldest mountain witch around, Maisie, who usually never leaves her home at the top of the mountain. She has a vial of a potion to keep Harriet grounded once they find her and a few wise words to inform them that Harriet is stuck in the Inbetween, the spectral plane. Apparently that is where she goes when she turns invisible! They finally figure out a spell from an old grimoire, to help them communicate briefly with Harriet, but it seems she is stuck there and unable to get herself out. She is happy as Larry, learning more about the Inbetween and more about her family’s ancestors, one of whom is apparently guiding her. Nothing is quite as it seems, with Mae having a dream about two sisters in their past, while a friend gives them a warning from a vision she had. Harriet may be learning about their ancestors and hearing of the curse and about being a sin eater! Lots of adventures, but also so much trouble for them all as well. Nice seeing more of Ted and Joseph interacting with the twins and the romance growing between them, but would have loved to see them travelling to Scotland this time around.

This series has truly captured my attention, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment. In this latest addition, we once again join Lela and Mae as they navigate their newfound roles as granny witches in the Great Smoky Mountains. The return of our beloved main characters brings with it blossoming romances and intriguing developments.

This time around, the duo finds themselves embroiled in a mysterious adventure involving the disappearance of purebred pets. As they delve deeper into the investigation, they uncover a puzzling enigma surrounding the whereabouts of these missing animals and the unsettling revelation of Harriet's sudden disappearance into the mysterious realm known as the Inbetween. Their desperate efforts to retrieve her lead to a gripping climax of suspense and triumph.

It's worth noting that these books are best enjoyed in sequence, as they build upon one another with interconnected plotlines. While the presence of cliffhangers may not be everyone's cup of tea, they serve to heighten the anticipation for the next installment. Personally, I can hardly contain my excitement for what the future holds in store for Lela, Mae, and the rest of the gang. Bring on the next book!.

4 1/2 stars

First, the not so good-

These books are NOT stand alone- there are cliffhangers (which I generally dislike) and if you haven't read the first 4 books in order, you will be completely lost.

Actually, I DID read the first 4 books , one after the other, 2 months ago, and I have to say that I was lost starting to read this one. I had to go back to the other books in order to refresh my memory as to situations and characters in those books.

I'm frustrated with that - there's no reason why a LITTLE background on the people and the situations, so that it is at least a bit easier to follow. I've read a lot of books that are part of a series, and all of them give you SOME kind of help... I never did remember some things, but as I read more in the book, others came back to me.

These reasons are why it's 4 stars and not 5

The good- as with the other books, this is a really well written, compelling, don't-want-to-put-it-down story. Great characters, humor, some romance, and never a dull moment as the twins, about to head to Scotland, are asked to help find some missing pets. And then, Mae's daughter Harriet disappears.

I also love how supportive the family and coven are, as well as Mae & Lela's boyfriends Ted & Joseph.

Despite the things I don't like, I do recommend the series, including this book!

A Mystery Awaits . . .

Wears Valley witches Lela and Mae, twin sisters, are ready for the trip to Scotland, all the plans are worked out, the sisters are excited to meet their extended family and hopefully learn some important information regarding breaking curses. Yet once again, chaos erupts as they try to help everyone out. Lela and Mae are asked for help when people’s pets go missing. Bertha is ready to go, but where is Mae’s daughter, Harriet? No one is going anywhere until they find out where she is. The twins’ boyfriends, Ted and Joseph, join in the hunt along with the coven. Harriet finally shows up, but where has she been? And what is all this information she has brought back? Are they going to make it to Scotland? Hang on tight, because another adventure is coming your way and you will need to pay strict attention or … well, start reading and feel free to take notes if it begins to get (more) complicated!

Vacation! Our heroines are ready to take a big trip to meet the extended family. But that gets put on hold when part of the local family goes missing. As things escalate from their, they wonder if they will ever get to go on their trip.

This is book five of the series, but it is written as a standalone. Feel free to jump in at any time.

This is a cozy witch mystery, which is always fun. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed setting and solid characters. I like our sisters and it was fun watching them explore their powers, and apparently their extended family. There was also a nice bit of humor throughout the story, which just added to the fun. Overall, it was very enjoyable and I look forward to seeing what comes next for our heroines.

Highly recommended.

So cute!

Mae and Lela are planning their trip to Scotland to go free Fiona but before they can do that, they have to use their powers to help find pets that have gone missing from their owners. That whole part was great – taking down the evil animal stealers. They got their just desserts!

Then right before they are about to leave, Hannah goes missing from their party. Initially they think she is playing a joke with her invisibility, but then they realize that she is stuck in the Inbetween!! Mae and Lela have to work together with the coven and a really nasty potion to try to get her free!

Loved this book!

Finally another adventure with Mae and Lela and the great cast of characters in Wears Valley.
The twins trip to Scotland is put off for another book as they get distracted with two mysteries to be solved before they can depart for foreign shores to deal with ancestral curse. The distractions have a purpose I feel in that these side steps allow them to discover and reveal more skills and magic that may be useful for the next stage of the magical journey.
The stories are fun, cozy and magical mysteries with great interaction between the twin sisters, their interesting lives and the unique adorable and quirky characters that make up this enjoyable series of books.

Lela and Mae are back in book five of the Wears Valley Witches series. Just as they were getting ready to head to Scotland there were some mysteries to solve before they could leave. Although I love this series I wish the books were released closer together. Book four was released ten months ago so I had to go back and skim over that book to remember who everyone was and what happened in that book leading to Twin Eater. Other than that this is a well written paranormal mystery with quirky characters, humor, magic, and so much more. This is an entertaining read and I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This is Book 5 of Wears Valley Witches starring Twin sisters Lela and Mae, boyfriends Ted and Joseph, Harriet, and Bertha. No it has to go on I need more. This story is the best mystery paranormal I’ve read and couldn’t stop reading. I love it when a new story comes out but read it to fast and then have to wait for the next one. I have to say that brew was making me queasy just from the description. Loved this one.

Twin Eater is book #5 in the Wears Valley Witches series by LA Boruff and Lorraine Cooke.

I really enjoy this series. There is always a lot going on for Lela and Mae. Missing animals, Harriet disappearing, getting ready to go to Scotland are their focus this time. The characters are great and some are more quirky than others. The familiars are interesting. There’s humor and a little romance. I can’t wait for the next book!

as excitement and tensions mount around the Scotland trip and it's hoped for resolution regarding the curses on the coins and cauldron, other troubles and new skills sets bubble up

questions are raised about the narratives related to the family history, as someone else gets caught up in jeopardy

nasty ingredients and a great deal of input and recipes from the coven of granny witches are on the menu

intense and suspense filled supernatural and family drama

5 stars!

I loved, LOVED, the time travel aspect. I also loved the pets and how that was all handled. Well written and fun, this series is well worth your time. Do note, this is not a standalone. The story continues. So you really have to read books 1-4 first.

This book continues the adventures of Lela and Mae, who recently moved to the Great Smoky Mountains and discovered they are granny witches powered by the mountains. The main characters return, and romances are still blooming. This adventure involves a mystery to discover where purebred pets that have mysteriously disappeared have gone and why. Then Harriet disappears and is reported to be in the Inbetween. A desperate effort to recover her finally succeeds.
