Millennia ago, the Fates spoke. A prophecy was delivered. A child shall be born. A vessel to bear all evils. A warrior tasked to protect her. Their trials shall be many, Three seals they protect. Defile. Betray. Condemn. Beware the treacherous whispers. Broken seals are the mortal’s doom. All is not lost, for hope remains. Atone for thy deeds.
My name is Anesidora Hope Athanasiou. Yeah, don’t try to work it out. Just call me Hope. My life was normal… until my twenty-first birthday. You know what they say, be careful what you wish for. Apparently, I’m the star of an ancient prophecy, and if those three old bags weren’t listening, I’d tell you what I really think. The only good thing to come out of this crap deal is my guardian. Alexander, a smoking hot, immortal Greek warrior, ripped straight out of history and every woman’s wet dreams. Including mine. Together we battle the worst of Erebos, who seek control of the vessel (ahem, that would be me) and all it contains. We fight to protect three seals the Fates didn’t see fit to explain, to prevent unleashing literal hell on Earth. No big deal, right? When there’s nothing left but hope, Will history repeat itself?
I love this new plot twist on Greek Mythology with a touch of humor.
This story between Alexander and Anesidora is one of hope, challenges, and fighting all things Greek. I love how K. O'Kelly incorporates things from the present day as well as the past. It has made for a really interesting storyline.
Alexander and Anesidora have been thrown together to help fight the evil that lives in a world of the unknown to try and find a way to break Anesidora down. You see she is still a Virgin and one who has to stay that way to keep everything in balance.
Now that she and Alexander have been paired together is she still going to remain intact or will she be Defiled...
Or will she and Alexander save the world?
K. O'Kelly is an amazing author she knows how to put the perfect blend of humor, spice, and everything nice in her books. Keeps you wanting more and she gives everything back in her writing. I can't wait to read this next book. I know I am going to love it. ❤️
Good Read Hope is a strong willed sassy FMC and Alexander is a warrior with a body of a Greek good and the protectiveness of a momma bear. The plot was good it was something new and different than what we have read of O’Kelly in the past and I like all the Greek Mythology that was immersed in the story. The imagery was great with all the action scenes and the scenery we get of the beautiful bayous and French Quarter of Louisiana. The spice was minimal but what we do get was good. I am interested to see where Hope and Alexander journey is going to lead with the next book so check out Defile for yourself!
Defile is the first book in the new series by Miss O’Kelly, and it is not what I am used to with this author. This is the start for Hope and Alexander. It is still romance, but she added some Greek Mythology in this book. And that makes it different than her previous books. For me, this was a first, with the Greek Mythology and all, but I really wanted to give this a try. And I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome, I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did. So, thank you, Miss O’Kelly for introducing me to something new.
Brand new from author K. O'Kelly is a series starter that's fairly fast-paced and sweet. By reading Defile, you can expect to be immersed in a story that is a lovely balance of Greek mythology, action scenes, and romance. Hope is faced with some hard choices to make, and fate had different plans for her than she carried for herself. I enjoyed reading Defile.
This a great read it has a little bit of something for everyone. You have mythology monsters and gods. The romance and interesting twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a great read worth the time to check it out.
This was a surprisingly quick and sweet read. I enjoyed the mythology which was well written and I loved the dynamic and relationship between Hope and Alexander. Not as much spice as I would have liked but what was there was sweet and well written.
I new take on mythology and ancient stories and it works. A lovely read between all the pitch black darkness I usually read.
I don’t normally read books like this but I’m glad I did and I actually enjoyed it! There’s a lot going on but it’s an easy book to follow with a good story line that kept me hooked!
You like.books about Greek mythical creatures? You have it. You want a weak woman turned strong? You got it? You want hot and steamy scenes? You got it. You want a story with a true, always be there, fight for you best friend? You got it. You have it all in this wonderful story.
Great beginning to what will be an exciting series. If you love Greek mythology, you will appreciate all the research Ms. O’Kelly did. I loved reading about the gods, demigods and underworld monsters. Anesidora Hope Athanasiou is an orphan. She is attending Tulane University in New Orleans to become a research assistant. Her only “family” is her best friend, Thea, who is also an orphan. It is Hope’s 21st birthday. She gets a bracelet from a secret admirer. That was the highlight of her birthday until she got attacked a met her guardian angel, Alexander.
Turns out Alexander is that Alexander. Alexander was sent by the gods to protect Hope. After the attack, Hope noticed that she felt very comfortable with Alexander despite just meeting him and the outrageous story he told her. The prophecy must not be fulfilled. How will Alexander and Hope fight their feelings? Feelings that get stronger with each moment they spend together.
There is so much going on and I loved every minute. This series starts with a literal bang. I cannot wait to read what happens next. Hope is the feisty main character that the god’s need. Will she be able to save the world and prevent the opening of Pandora’s box?
This book was so good! It was the first book I've read by this author, and she totally didn't disappoint me. Hope and Alexander totally stole my heart from the very beginning. Great book. I will definitely be recommending this book to all my bookie friends!
Defile: The First Seal is the first book in the new Unleashed series by K. O'Kelly. This book is a departure from the typical books I have read by this author, and I must say, I am in LOVE with this new series! If you are a fan of Greek Mythology retellings or just a lover of great fantasy books, this book is a must read for you! The world building is done perfectly, not too overwhelming, as can be seen in many fantasy reads. The characters grab your attention from the very beginning and keep you enthralled until the very end, which of course, ends on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to yearn for more once you finish this book.
Anesidora Hope Athanasiou, aka Hope, has just turned 21 and is currently enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans. On her birthday, she receives a bracelet that seems familiar to her. Soon after, she is attacked and a mysterious stranger helps her and her world will be forever changed. Alexander is a stunningly gorgeous gladiator type hero that has been sent by the Gods to keep Hope safe. She is part of an ancient prophecy, and both of the work to protect the three seals from being broken to keep the world safe. They battle creatures sent from Erebos while also fighting their growing affection for each other. If they fail, hell will reign down on the earth.
Defile is a perfect balance of modern day life, infused with Greek history, and takes us on an epic adventure as we watch Hope become a total badass. However, Alexander is the star of this book for me. Who wouldn't want to have a hot and sexy warrior protect them and possibly defile them, LOL??? I loved his story and am definitely counting the days until we get the next book!
Fantastic start to a new series! I loved this departure from what I'm used to getting from this author. The Greek Mythology aspect is a fun new twist for the series. Hope and Alexander are amazing together. So much happens throughout the story and the spice is great, there isn't a ton of it in this book. I can't wait to find out what comes next. Gripping story that kept me immersed in their world until the very end and I want more of it! Excited to read what else is in store for the series.
This is the first book I've read of this author and I loved it. This book is based on Greek mythology when I first read the blurb immediately I wanted to read it and it didn't disappoint. And I can't wait to see what happens with Hope & Alexander. Hope is a strong willed, sassy, feisty FMC Alexander is a sexy, protective, hot warrior with the body of a Greek god
This book is based on Greek mythology. Anesidora Hope Athanasiou, or Hope, was living a semi-normal life until her 21st birthday. She receives a prophecy where she is supposed to help save the world. She has a guardian angel, named Alexander who comes to help with the prophecy. While working together, they end up developing feelings for each other. The catch is that she has stay a virgin in order to keep everything in balance. Are they are able save the world or will their feelings get in the way?
I love Greek mythology and this book didn't disappoint. I loved the character of Hope. She is a super strong female character. Alexander was the perfect male character to go alongside with Hope. I have read K. O'Kelly's Billionaire Bosses of Seattle series before and loved them. It was cool to see her branch out with this book and I was pulled in from the start. I'm looking forward to reading other books in this series.
