Well, this book was everything one needed for a finale. I have so much to say but I should start with saying a huge thank you to M.L. Greye for being such a good author friend of mine and also allowing me to read all early works, talk about the development within this book and the series. As well as listening to me vent constantly about how much I love Rand! THANK YOU M! 💕

✨CHARACTERS✨
- The character development within this series is so well apparent within the series and through each book you can see each character grow within their unique set of gifts to become stronger and Greye works hard in ensuring readers believe that these characters deserve their development through sacrifice, pain and strength. For instance, Declan going from one of the Stolen and working his way up to become a powerful Teal/ Silver we know that he's earnt that development and seeing him grow stronger is so so fulfilling after reading about his sacrifices through the Stolen Camps. The same goes for Rand and Fiona within their similar story to Declan and these characters working their way up to royalty when they were nothing but Stolen is so satisfying to read in APOSAT.
Emry, she's always had a political mind, a strong headship but within APOSAT, finally able to see her lead an army into war, everything down to the tee was so well polished with her strategic thinking whilst still having a few bumps along the way with the aether. Which, makes her character still more realistic compared to being this perfect queen, since whilst Emry is good at balancing strategy and fighting, we still see how she mixes the two which ends up with her becoming a slave within the aether. Yet, Emry is a fighter and her way in fighting is a work of art, it's a masterpiece. I really enjoyed reading about Emry within this book, from the princess she was within the first book and now watching her become this powerful queen, it was just a joy to read.
I do wish that we could've seen more of the other Pair's individually but I'm just greedy and it wasn't their story to be told, it was Emry's and Dec's, so I suppose I can't complain. Yet, this book was so comical when the whole tribe of Pair's were within scenes together, from the famous qippos bantering together, to Emry's day to her night, Greye put all the dialogue together so fluidly and smoothly it felt natural. There were no times that I cringed or believed that there was anything forced between each character. However, I think I would've liked to of seen just a little more tension between Emry and Sofia, given their pasts and the fact both of them are fighters. I think Sefia and Emry maybe should've had a few snaps before becoming friends and properly understanding each other. Yet, I rather enjoyed their freshly blooming friendship. Trez and Sefia forever btw!

✨WORLD BUILDING AND LORE✨
I want to just talk about this before I forget every word in the dictionary. THE WORLD BUILDING WAS TO DIE FOR, if you like unique worlds with loads of intricate details, THIS IS THE SERIES FOR YOU!!!!! I am in awe of Greye's ability to be so creative within her worlds, not only creating one country, but several which are all as beautiful as the other. My favourite is Quirl if any of you were wondering. Not only is the visual imagery within these counties so vivid and so beautifully written, but every small detail you could think of for designing a country has been added. The language, the clothes, the food, the artitecture, the weather, the law and rules of each country, the societal traits. Heerth is always so well pictured within my mind simply because of how much effort was put into describing the country, I so envy Greye's ability to construct a world to this level of detail and for it also not be a bore to read. It was exciting to read, it was interesting and I think it's a good sign when reading a heavy world building book which doesn't make u want to skip over pages.
From book one, the magic lore of this book has been one of my favourite aspects of the series. The shades of eyes indicating your power has always been easy to follow for the YA readers. Even with the Pairing of powers and abilities, it all read as though it had been throughly planned and cared for rather than just thrown into a plot to become a messy sprawl of power which wouldn't make sense or be able to follow. I wish I was a Grey, I have always had a soft spot for thunder even though I hate rain, but you win some you lose some. Anyway, the new development with the Silver - Gold's was a new adjustment within the lore was what this book needed alongside its frequent amount of fight scenes and within the balance of the world itself. You need chaos and unbalance of the lore in order for a fantasy book to be thrilling within my opinion and the book gave you that with the effects of the Silver - Gold's. I will never complain about the world building and lore of this series, especially within APOSAT.

✨OPINIONS (not that you need to listen to me what so ever✨
Firstly being I do wish for more scenes with the other Pairs when it came to the battle of war, just because I wanted to see more close calls with characters and within their Pairs (I was sweating the whole time, afraid of my life I will admit). I wanted to see more sacrifice between the other Pairs, but Greye did serve and leave no crumbs at the battle scenes where Trez and Sefia were almost on the brink and yet they still kept fighting, I loved that.
I also would've liked to of seen a longer mourning phase after the battle, I think Levric's dead needed to be more spread out, we mostly got more of Emry's POV but I think I wanted to see more of Declan's pain and devastation and also his families devastation at the loss. A bigger or more up- scaled mourning scene I would've perfered but again, I won't be too picky.
Finally, I wished to see more of the lives of the other Pairs after the war, what they were up to and how they were reforming their countries and uniting the world more across nations after the war. I think with the other Pairs being so apparent within the series, I would've liked to see my little Pairs being all cute and domestic like but at this point, I'm basically asking for another novella (please, M, write another novella 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 just for me I beg you!)

✨Overall thoughts✨
I love Rand. I do, I'll say it for the mountains, I AM A RAND STAN.
I'm a sucker for romance and the romance was perfection.
I already miss this series, please all of you read this series because it is so well written and it's been loved and cared for, M truly is passionate about this series and she gave it her all, I loved it and I will be annotating APOSAT when I get my hands on a physical copy. ALL OF YOU GO READ, GO GO!
