Sirius Wolves #2

Broken Circle

Rate this book
Blaze, the most powerful werewolf on the planet has found his omega, Aden.

Together with Conner and Darric they finally become true mates, fulfilling an ancient prophecy by the goddess Sirius and forming Orion’s Circle.
The battle against the terrorist group, The Winter Circle, has begun.
Blaze, however, is fighting his own battle. Aden is due to birth a child, and despite Blaze's six hundred years of being an Alpha, nothing has prepared him for his hardest challenge yet -- how to become a father. His struggles are hurting the people he loves the most and threatening their bond.
The madman who kidnapped and tortured Aden still hasn’t been caught, and when the worst happens and their circle is broken, Blaze has to fight his biggest threat yet – his own inner weakness – an enemy against which his Alpha strength will be useless.

Blaze has to learn that true strength is only found in forgiveness, and sometimes the most powerful weapon is love.

Bullets and Babies!

Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.

She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.

And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.

Despite the fact that I’m a huge fan of this author I think it’s time to acknowledge that this series is just not for me. I struggled with the first book but assumed it was a fluke and I’d like this one more. I didn’t.

My first problem came when I realised that the guys hadn’t mated because Aden didn’t want to be fat when they did. Now this may not seem like a big thing but it just seemed silly since it’s important they mate ASAP.

The misunderstandings and the “he loves me he loves me not” also got on my nerves.

But what finished me off was Aden’s TSTL moment.
I know what you’re thinking, which one?
I let it slide in the first book because I was so desperate to like it but this was just one stupid too many.

The crazy thing is I really struggled to finish this book after that and I told myself I was done and unbelievably I’m now considering the next book. But I can’t, not yet anyway unless someone can tell me it’s different. That it’s not going to revolve around one of the main characters kidnapped and Aden is finally going to learn from his mistakes.
Please someone tell me it’s different so I can read it.

Lord...Victoria Sue knows how to rip your heart out. This killed me just as much the second time.

Originally read July 2017

OMG just kill me now. I liked this one way better than the first but man, oh man...it was a tearjerker for sure. I balled like a baby and I'm not ashamed to say so.

I love how these 4 guys love each other. There is no jealousy between them and they love deeply. Blaze was still a bit of an ass but I believe he learned his lesson the hard way and boy was it hard...for me too. I also liked that Aden seemed to have matured and grew.

I will definitely be moving on to the next one because I have to see how all this is going to play out. I am keeping my fingers crossed things aren't always as they seem...

If it wasn't for the stellar reviews from my GR buddies I'm not sure I would've continued with this series but I'm moving on to book 3 because I need to find out what the hell is going on! I HATED the turn their story took and add to that Aden irritated the snot outta me with his TSTL ridiculousness and yeah, I can't even ....

Well. Alrighty then.

I loved the first book in this series, but it seems all the MCs got lobotomies or something between the first book and this one. Just one stupid move after another. All the problems could have been avoided if Aden had bonded with his mates, but he didn't want to because he was "too fat"? Really? And he just continues to meet with various enemy werewolves alone and sneak out without telling anyone where he's going even after the disastrous results in the first book? Too stupid to learn his lesson, huh? He refuses to wear a tracking device, (because, you know, there's no way he might ever get kidnapped or anything crazy like that) but what ever happened to the one the doctor put in him in the first book? Is it still there? Can't they just fire that one up?

Plus, the grammatical errors and typos were worse, and Aden "dropped a kiss on Beth's head" at location 253 even though they didn't pick her name until location 403.

I was super excited about this series, and now I'm just disappointed.

This is an excellent follow up to book one, Orion's Circle but I didn't like it as much but I mean a half star. The story is a little different and gets frustrating but that's how it's supposed to role. Broken Circle is a lot sadder too so get some kleenex ready.

Apart from that if you like book #1 then you'll most likely enjoy this too.

I think I said in my review for book 1 that it I was taken by surprise. This book also took me by surprise but for very different reasons and like the title implies I feel a little bit broken. Really I should have looked at the title and run away quickly!

I’m honestly not sure about the way the story unfolded. The books you pick up and are looking forward to that leave you sobbing are always the hardest to get over and put how you feel into words.

Broken Circle starts up a few months on from Orion’s Circle and Aden is in labour. Darric and Connor are right there offering support but Blaze feels like an outsider unsure of what to do or how to help. This story revolves more around Blaze than the other three and focuses on how he can’t get past his feelings that he has constantly let Aden down. Blaze turns inward on himself and runs away frequently turning his thoughts off so no one realises the depth of his despair.

Work continues to bring together humans and werewolves but there is a traitor in the midst and it is looking more and more likely to be someone close to Blaze and his men.

The crazy doctor from Aden’s old pack is still running around plotting and until he is found no one will be safe. Nobody could possibly know the consequences of him catching Blaze and how that moment will change everyone’s future.

As I said at the start I’m still not sure how I feel about the ending. This is a well written book and the world building continues on from Book 1. The plot twist has totally blindsided me. Where does that leave that prophecy which spoke clearly of who was involved? I feel like I want to stamp my feet and say NO!!

I may even have to start a petition to Sirius asking her to do something crazy like return the status quo in book 3!!

Somehow I wasn't surprised that book two was going to show a struggle within my favorite foursome. It's not realistic to think that everything is going to be perfect, no matter that these men love each other. The seven months that Aden has been pregnant has been tough on them all, particularly Blaze, as it seems nothing he says or does is right, and he has spent more than one night sleeping in the forest in his wolf form. Now little Beth has been born, and you'd think life would be perfect, but no, there are still many challenges waiting.

"Blaze made sure Conner and I had our childhood. He fought for it every day. He tried to keep as much of the harshness of being a grown-up away from us as long as he could.”
“But there was no one there who could do that for Blaze.”

'Broken Circle' would be an okay story if all the author focused on was the guys and their relationship. However, the whole concept of Orion's Circle, the werewolf council for all North American weres, is to bring balance between humans and shifters. This is what their foursome was created to do. Unfortunately, as they are in critical negotiations with the American government to look at having werewolves join the military in special werewolf and human soldiers groups, a terrorist cell of werewolves calling themselves The Winter Circle is hard at work to ruin everything. Of course there's plenty of drama with the guys, too, but adding in everything else makes it a great read.

Okay, it's decided. I really hated that doctor from Aden's former pack - the one they discovered had been secretly doing gene therapy in a lab to try for eternal life - but now I know he disgusts me and I'd like to wrap my hands around his neck and throttle him. Ick! I can't believe you just did this, Victoria! Seriously! No, I don't believe it. It can't be. I was, however, very happy to see the doctor get what he deserved. But I'm not forgiving you, Ms. Sue. I'm not. I'm holding on to hope, and thinking Sirius might have another trick up her sleeve.

I didn't think it was possible but this book was even more exciting than the first one. So many revelations, so much pain and hurt. And, dang it, the author made me cry. Now I have to jump into the third installment, because even though the doctor is dead, The Winter Circle is still causing problems, and my guys are going to have to work very hard to ensure a war doesn't break out between humans and werewolves.

Hi - so obviously this isn't exactly a review because this is my book. I just wanted to add a note because I have had a lot of readers asking. This is the first part of three. I don't end any of them on a cliffhanger, but there are three parts to this story.

The third part should be out in September - so for those of you that I made cry with book two - hang in there!

This book left me with a bittersweet feeling. I did not like everything that happened and how it all played out. That made it hard for me to write this review and most likely flavored it a bit.

Blaze seemed to be the focus of this book. He had several things he needed to work through. The first is being a father. He has no idea how to do it and makes mistakes along the way when the child is born that alienates Aden. To lead this even farther events occur that leads him to hurt one of his mates. He goes off by himself and while distracted by his own emotional issues, gets captured himself in trouble with no way out.

Let me just say Madden is totally bat shit crazy. The things he plans to do to reach his goals are really sickening. Hell the things he does manage to do are sickening. Anyway, enough to say he left me feeling icky.

I do love the way Victoria Sue writes. There is so much descriptive wording that really allows me to visualize things as they happen. I really feel like I get pulled into the story as I read them. Even if I hate what is happening, I can still feel the characters emotions.

The sexual elements were very well done. And it was actually beautiful at times the love the mates show to each other. There was tenderness and caring in their touches. I really love how they all are together.

Throughout the book I never got the feeling of how everything was going to end. And I was totally shocked. It left me reeling. I so did not see it coming. It left me feeling heartbroken. Even after it was all said and done and good things come of it, I still felt like something was missing.

I do appreciate the fact that I was left with the feeling that there is more to come. And that this is perhaps not the final ending. I really hope so.

I will be looking forward to the next book in the series.

Spoilers!

I loved this sequel to Orion's Circle. Things are getting a bit more complicated as someone is throwing a wrench into Blaze's plans to unite werewolves and humans. Not only does Blaze have to battle that but also that he feels a bit out of control with the new addition of his and Aden's daughter. Blaze doesn't like to feel out of control and ends up pushing Aden away.

I don't always cry when I read books but this one caught me off guard with a HUGE twist. I won't give that fully away but one of the main characters, who I adored, died and it was heartbreaking to say the least. One good thing is that a gift is left to Aden through the passing of this character and that was so very touching.

I had to ask if there would be another in this series and thankfully that answer is yes. Well done again Victoria!

Convoluted.

I can't think of anyway to describe this other than convoluted. Not to mention Blaze is an arrogant ass that needs his ass kicked so hard it pops his head out of there. Severe case of cranial rectitus.

There are also so many editing/proofing mistakes I started skimming.

I'll continue with the series but hope it improves.

I’m one of those stubborn readers who will get pissed off by one event in a book and decide that I hate everything and everyone and declare that I’m never ever going to even think about looking at the author’s name on Goodreads ever again. Doesn’t matter if it’s not fair, or if I’m shooting myself in the foot, I get angry or distraught (and maybe a little dramatic), and that’s it – mind made up. But damn it, that doesn’t really work so well when I have to review the book for a blog. Then it really does matter if it’s not fair. So for the purpose of this review I’m going to attempt to put my feelings aside and be as objective as possible as I tell you about this book that I enjoyed while simultaneously hating it with a fiery passion.

The story picks up seven months after the first book ended with Aden fourteen hours into giving birth to the four men’s first child. Blaze, as usual, has his head up his ass and is making everything about himself, but Conner and Darric are on hand to smooth things over between their other two mates. Ahhh Darric. My. Favourite. Character.

However, the story’s focus can’t remain on the baby for too long because there are still several other loose threads from the first book that we need to continue with. The two most important issues being – the evil/mad doctor who is still on the loose from Aden’s former pack, and the alliance that Blaze and some other wolves are trying to form with humans to see wolves incorporated into the military. Both of these storylines are furthered in this book and actually, I should probably note at this point that you would find it very frustrating to attempt these books as standalones. This series has been written to be read in order.

For the most part, I enjoyed this book more than the first. While the relationship between Blaze and Aden continued to annoy the ever-living heck out of me, there was a lot more forward movement plot wise to distract me from their dramatics. And the great thing about having four main characters is that there are others to focus on if you don’t like one of them. While at least one of the plot arcs appears to have ended with this book, others continue on into the third, and from what I understand, final book. But I’m also assuming there will be spin off series, maybe? Considering a neighboring group of wolves also seem to have found themselves with a messy romance brewing.

As for the tricky twist I didn’t see coming (read - clusterfuck of epic proportions), well like I said, I’m trying to remain as objective as possible. Just because I was less than impressed with the turn the story took, doesn’t mean it wasn’t actually a good story. I did also say that I enjoyed this second book more than the first. I explained the situation to my fellow reviewers and received responses ranging from – say the author made you cry and get on with your life (I paraphrased a little there), right through to “set your kindle on fire!” (That one was not paraphrased.)

Am I going to read the next book? Jury’s out on that one. Honestly, I think I’m going to wait until reviewers braver than me dive in first and I’ll see what they have to report. I mean, it’s paranormal right? So anything is possible.

Reviewed for The Novel Approach.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of reading the first book in this series, and I was absolutely delighted by the world Victoria Sue set up. The mythology, the characters, the storyline…all of it was so fresh in a shifter-saturated market. This second book continues the story started in the first, and follows Aden, Blaze, Conner, and Darric as they discover the joys of fatherhood and navigate an increasingly dangerous world.

Seven months have passed since the first book, and Aden is ready to give birth to a baby. Yes, he is male, for readers just tuning in, so this book does have mpreg. The logistics are explained in the first book, and I found it fascinating as Aden and his alphas dote on their child. But there’s a lot at stake. Orion’s Circle is getting more powerful, but Aden and Blaze have not finished their bonding ceremony, and there are new threats to contend with. The villain, Madden (from the first book has disappeared), and a terrorist group that seems to be made of wolves is threatening wolf/human relations.

I can’t say much without giving too much away, but I will say a few things. First, you absolutely must read the first book to get the full story. The author does a decent job of catching readers up, but not everything is explained. Second, this book is devastating. There is a major character death and I sobbed in bed, reading to the end through wet lashes. That’s how much I was affected. I honestly didn’t think it would bother me as much as it did, and I had to eventually take my glasses off because they were so blurred with tears.

So, is this book good? Yeah. Any book that can make me care that much about characters and cry so hard is awesome. That’s not to say there aren’t issues, however. Like the first book, there are some inconsistencies. The baby’s name is mentioned before Aden and Blaze decide on it, which is frustrating. There are also instances of repetition that could have been cut. I started skimming at one point because it got to be just too much, but in the end, the author’s character building really brought me in and kept me engrossed in the story. I just really wish more attention had been payed to the editing.

Now, there is a third book, and I currently hold it in my hands. I’m afraid to read it, though. Why? I don’t think my heart can handle another blow like it did with this one. And I’m all out of tissues. Any more tears and I might need to start using the towels in my bathroom to sop up the mess.

A review by The Blogger Girls.

This story picks up where the last one left off. Aden is in labor and the alphas are all trying to get through it in their own ways. Unfortunately, Blaze is having a bit of a difficult time still, especially once the baby arrives. Seems this is something out of his control that he is frantic about his ability to protect, etc. So, there is quite a bit of tension among the foursome even during this joyous time.

Even more unfortunate is how distracted Blaze with everything going on. And with the mad scientist still on the loose, things go bad rather quickly. Madden is now obsessed with male pregnancy and sees dollar signs if he can recreate the ability in humans. He, of course, must get the secret from Blaze, whom he believes is the key element to making it happen. He uses horrific methods in attempting to gain such information, and it is mostly Blaze who suffers at his hands this time around.

At the same time, there is also an outside group claiming responsibility for attacks that is putting the plan of integrating the wolves and humans at great risk. So, there are quite a few twists in this story as well.

But, the main focus is, of course, on the mates, Orion’s Circle. I won’t give away the biggest twist of all here, but suffice to say, it’s a heartbreaker I did not see coming. I was pretty upset about it, but I really like how Ms. Sue played everything out in the end.

This is a really enjoyable shifter series that is refreshingly different and interesting. There are a number of dynamics that are not the same old, same old which really makes this story unique. I love these characters and am really looking forward to seeing what more is in store for them as they work to accomplish the goals they were put together to reach.

I insist that EVERYONE go get this book and book one right now. You won't be sorry.

Bloody hell Victoria you had me crying again and can you write angst or what.

It was even better than the first book. What with more angst, action, major shock moments, the baby's birth (Thanks for not skiping over it and just having the character in labour them bamm the baby's days/weeks old like some book have done) more hot lovin moments and the happish ending.

You gave us a MAJOR OMG shock in this book and more teary moments but which we all like and keep reading wanting more so Thank You for another great book in the Sirius Series and here's to book three which we all eagerly await to read.

4 Stars!

I am a fan of Victoria Sue. I am a big fan of her words. I wasn't such a big fan of this one. I struggled. My heart was hurting. But that's a good sign of an amazing author ...right? They make you FEEL. And does she ever make me feel, and cringe, and smile, and cry. And she makes me read, devour every word!!

This first one was amazing!!! And, I was so happy with what was happening in the 2nd instalment with this quad of sexy wolves! I loved the chemistry between them all. We still get very vivid and captivating details. The author has an impressive imagination.

I went in blind, so I am leaving it at this... I read it but didn't feel as much joy as I had in the first one, and I will read the next one.

I had just thought that the first book lacked Blaze's POV, so just imagine my surprise that this book started with just that! I really loved this one. I loved this extra glimpse we got into the dynamo of their relationship. I was absolutely devastated . I loved the appearance and role of Sirius in both books. There were still many tense and spellings issues in this book too. There was this huge blunder though. This shouldn't have been possible, and these two points are the reason for me deducting one star from my rating.

Can't wait to read the final part though!:-)

Un seul mot me vient à l'esprit: bientôt...

Oh my heart! :( this one was tough to rate because I felt like there were SO MANY things that were inconsistent! Characterization was all over the place, I wanted to slap Blaze, and then I wanted to slap Aden for wandering out - again! - and getting caught - again! And we knew the baby's name was Beth before it was decided...just some typos and things like that, that threw me from the book. It was a sad ending, and I'll be interested to see how the author pulls off a HEA, if that's what she's going for, with the third book. I wish there was a bit more focus on the mpreg, instead of it being the very beginning and the very end of the story.

She's done it again!

WARNING: This book contains torture, violence, and a great deal of sadness, however it is worth the read. Victoria Sue has done it again! She has made me laugh and cry while reading her beautifully written second novel in the Sirius Wolves series. I was greatly saddened yet found joy and comfort in the ending. Her writing style keeps me drawn into the book and makes me really feel for her characters. This book is more heartbreaking then the first but if you can push through the ending is satisfying. I eagerly await the next book in this series. I am officially a Sirius Wolves fan.

Even a little bit better than the first book in this series I devoured "Broken Circle" in one sitting. Starting right where the first book ended you don't miss anything about the sstory of sweet Aden and his Alpha-mates Blaze, Darric and Connor. This book is more intense and touching I've ever could guess, just awesome. Trying to fulfill the prophecy Aden & Co. have to face a new enemy and threat besides their own troubles. But Blaze isn't just fighting those enemies, no, his own deep feelings of guilt are weighing hard on his shoulders. At a point in this book I couldn't hold my tears any longer, damn, that was touching. Really great job and well done. Can't wait to read on.

What can I say???...hooked from word one.I just fell headlong into this book and didn't come up for air until the end.Beautiful,sensual,gut-wrenching,hand-wringing,tissue grabbing at its absolute best. You really need to read this series people.I personally cant wait for book three.I shall end my review on this note....'Broken Circle....Je n'ai pas de mots.J'ai simplement estimé dans mon âme.'....which loosely translated was meant to say,'I have no words.I simply felt it in my soul'....and this book is all that and more.Amazing book Victoria Sue.
