Three decades ago, a colossal Empire unleashed its wrath upon an single world - Earth. Their intent was complete annihilation, however when the dust cleared, the people of Earth were instead scattered to the stars, their home now a frozen waste at the center of a fortress system that none dare approach.
Now, Earth's survivors are spread far and wide. Most lost to the stars, but some remained close to their enemy, waiting for a chance to finish the war on their own terms.
For the Empire, the sins of the past are converging... The seeds are sown... and Harvest is coming.
****
In this riveting tale of survival, hope, and destiny, journey with the scattered children of Earth as they navigate a universe fraught with unpredictability. What will the harvest yield? Only time will tell."
Good Story continuing the Odyssey One saga. I would have rated higher but for the lack of a good proofreading. I am very disappointed with number of typos, misspelled words, wrong words, grammatical errors and overall lack of proofreading. There were so many mistakes that a good proofreading should have corrected and made for a better story. This has been an ongoing issue with Evan Currie books. This book is the worst so far. Mr. Currie, if you read this please, please this needs to be corrected. I’m tired of trying to make sense through the mistakes and they definitely take away from the story when you have to backtrack, reread passages to understand. Please fix this.
Would be a great story if not for the poor editing
For the love of all the is holy hire an editor or at least a proof reader.
Typos, false starts, homonyms, and errors in noun verb agreement abound. I marked up 11 instances in chapter 28 alone. It was fairly indicative of the book as a whole.
It is a shame that a shoddy lack of care about the "finished" product ruins excellent story telling. Please stop publishing rough drafts.
I went thru the story in a day. I enjoyed it, except for the frequent typos. Please hire an editor. It’s distracting and annoying. It looks amateurish. Do better.
This book was an extremely frustrating experience!!! Can he tell a good story? Yes, definitely! But does he understand English? Is he pushing out books too fast? Is he just lazy?
I can't tell.
He is a successful writer, with a large body of highly rated previous work (which I must admit that I have not read [which was somewhat of a problem because he assumes that readers will be familiar with the history and context of this story]), but it seems very clear that he never re-read this draft before sending it off to publishing – it is so filled with errors that he should find it a major embarrassment.
The book is littered (and I do mean VERY frequently littered - often multiple times per PAGE) with words used out of context, wrong words, mis-spelled words, missing words, words that might possibly sound similar to an intended(?) word, etc., etc. No matter how good the story, if one keeps lurching to a stop to ask "What did the author really intend to say here?" or "Isn't that just the opposite of what the character should be saying?" or even "This makes no sense at all!" one starts cultivating an annoyance that steadily morphs into an active dislike.
It's almost as if he dictates a story for transcription and then relies on the computer to clean it up after him – never bothering to look at the computer output or let another person actually read the draft and provide feedback. These errors are not subtle! They are not rare! Even the basic spelling and grammar checker in Word should catch most of them. By the middle of the book, I had begun just using his sentences as starting points and then revising them on the fly to make a coherent story.
So, even though I enjoyed the story (or at least the version I created), I'm unsure that I'll read more of his books – they are just too much work.
Well who would of thought Admiral Tanner would be so passed off. Wow! what a book, we were introduced to some new players and an old adversary is back for another turn in the barrel. What a fun read, of course it's not long enough. Evan's books are never long enough. It's chock full of drama plenty of action, humor and of course suspense. It's such a fun read. Also don't start with this book you need to start with "Into the Black" there are quit a few i have read and re-read them 3 or 4 times. So if you start with Seeds you are missing out on a wealth of entrainment. You deserve to be treated to one of the best SyFi series ever written Thanks again Evan. There is one thing I always say about Evan's work he likes to stop writing just as it's getting extremely exciting. Do yourself a favor and get all the books sit back and enjoy. You can thank me later
I love the world Evan Currie has created, and very glad the story continues, but for the love of the gods they need a proof reader. I'd be happy to volunteer for that too, I've done so a few times for friends and mark whatever typos I come across as content errors.
Case in point, the book title should be The Seeds That Were Sown.
I get in to the flow of the story, completely losing track of time with it, and a typo or similar just breaks the spell. There's no harm in asking for help, the underlying message of these stories is were in it together after all.
Evan Currie writes riveting stories. Be prepared to lose track of time while you get pulled into whatever no of his you read. Honestly, you Silk get knocked of of the story by the myriad of grammatical errors the editor has allowed through the publishing process. You can't get two pages without a wrong word error. Mr. Currie should really get someone else to proof read his works before allowing them to go to publication. It's frustrating to see such a good story get sidetracked by poor editing.
When Earth was destroyed in the last book, I couldn’t guess what would be next - this chapter in the series takes up 30 years later with the rag tag remnants of Earth’s fleets hiding in plain sight from the Empire and puts them against their first interstellar threat, the Drasin.
The seeds are sown in this book - I foresee a lot more good stories and interstellar action coming soon.
Great series. Loved it! Gets a bit repetitive sometimes, especially in the later books, some secondary plots remain unresolved and some details change in order to suit the narrative better but these slippages are far and few between, especially considering it's a 12 books series (starting with Odyssey One).
Loved the characters, the action and Eric Weston will always have a special place in my heart alongside characters like Pham Nuwen, Daneel Olivaw or Diziet Sma.
I’m glad to see the story continue and missed it after what happened in the last book. Happy to see some of the old characters returning and new ones taking their place. The only reason why I didn’t give it five stars, far too many spelling errors. Spellcheck doesn’t catch homonyms. Anyway, if you read the first book and the others in the series, you will be glad to read this one. Oh, with the Drasin, even enemies can be friends facing that threat.
Evan is at the top of his game with seeds. He has set the stage for another epic with Seeds. Thirty years after the fall of Earth a new generation is growing up and bringing new fire to the battle. Also a new generation in the Empire comes back possibly with a different perspective. It will be interesting to see where he takes it.
Evan Currie does it again! Great story with tons of action, a reunion with old characters, and an introduction of new ones. I will say typos appear that shouldn’t be present at this level of an author’s career. I recommend the book as a great addition to the story arc, but Evan needs to get his people to proofread before publishing.
This is a great book, and if you’re looking at this review to see if this is something you would want to read, I do recommend starting with into the black, and then reading the series in order. There’s enough references to previous books that you would be completely lost without that background.
I loved this continuation of The kings fall by Evan Currie. I listened to the audiobook which gave me an excellent experience. Kings Fall cover the Empire's attack on the sol system. During the. attack ships both military and civilian managed to escape Earths defeat. This story continues the select stories of those who escaped and how they continued the fight.
Nice continuation of the story. Good plot and new actors (as well as some previous ones). Would have given 5 stars if there hadn't been so many typos - really need better proofreaders, sorta kills the flow of the book for me when I have to figure out what is trying to be said. Anyway, good book.
Great to be back killing bugs metaphorically speaking using someone else's eyes. Fantastic start to 2nd era hope next fleshes out what prims an the other colonies may have been up to
This is been a great story well worth the time to read. The characters are great and the story will keep you in Suspense Wondering what will happen next.
I really liked how Currie continues the original story. Hopefully, more to come. Cannot avoid mentioning the editing, though; too many distracting spelling mistakes, grammatical issues and such. Still, a 5 star rating in my opinion.
This was a great return to this universe with so much action and great new faces to replace those that have gone before. I will always love reading these. ( needs some more proof reading though)
Another excellent read by one of my favorite authors. You never fail to impress, and never fail to pull your reader directly into the world you've created.
After the last book i thought the series was finished but i am glad to see the story return. A few typos but a very good followup to the last book and great to start to see what happened after Earth died. Looking foward to news of any colony.
Thirty years after Odyssey cycle ended we get reset for fresher start in the series. Some powers are toned down for plot reasons, but this way it feels more as starting Odyssey books. We get some old characters, some new and setup for common enemy.
I still miss Eric Weston and the other characters from the Odyssey One series but I enjoyed getting to know the new characters and I cannot wait for the next book to come out.
Terrans survived the worst that could happen. Now the legacy to defend their people is being passed to a new generation. Staunch friends still stand firm with them. Will the universe they jointly create be an improvement to the cosmic balance?
Superbly enjoyable. I had things to do this evening but couldn't stop reading. Even had to keep reading whilst riding my exercise bike. Not sure what kept my heart rate higher, the pedalling or the action 😂
Thank you Evan! It been 30 years since the destruction of earth and the empire’s military might. But an old enemy is still out there. Looking forward to a new series and new characters.
