By February 1933, more than 4,000 banks in America had lost three billion dollars. The result is that 13 to 14 million people are unemployed and living on food stamps. The repeal of prohibition took place in 1933. In Northampton, Massachusetts, Calvin Coolidge died as the thirty-first President of the United States. On January 5, Herbert Hoover was replaced by Franklin Delano Roosevelt as the 30th President of the United States. 23 degrees below-zero freezing temperature was recorded in Seminole, Texas, on February 8, 1933. In 1933 a hurricane decimated south Texas dislocating hundreds of rural indigenous families. The story is about my dad and the hundreds of people affected by the hurricane and the phenomenal year of 1933.
