What’s worse than deranged godlike aliens? A vampiric deranged godlike alien!
When Jim and his friends succeed in killing the Aax’ods by opening a portal to the Crimson Universe, he figures they’ll have peace and quiet for a while.
But boy, is he wrong!
One day, out of nowhere and all across the galaxy, thousands of portals are open to the monster world, and trillions of beasts pour out. So many that they simply wash over the Federation’s forces, and that’s before they start to multiply exponentially.
How can Jim stop this new, unimaginable threat?
Or can he?
Pick up The Red King, the final installment in The Crimson Deathbringer’s saga, and find out for yourself!
Well, not really, but this should tell you all you need to know about me and my writing style.
I'm a huge Marvel (plus Game of Thrones, Star Trek AND Star Wars) fan, which shows since my novel is loaded with pop culture references. If you are a sci-fi fan (I assume that you are, otherwise what are you doing here?) you will enjoy them tremendously. I even went full Deadpool in my first draft and broke the fourth wall multiple times, until my editor told it was distracting and kept taking her out of the moment. Shame. Those fourth-wall breaks were hilarious. Still, I can guarantee a few laugh-out-loud moments. Case in point: The "good" aliens in my novel are a race of pranksters, whose main goal in life is pulling other people's legs (They have four legs, hence the slight change in the idiom). My favorite author is Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files), which is probably how I ended up writing in a first-person POV with the same light-hearted, funny tone as he does. The fact that my MC's name is Jim is purely coincidental though.
I am a university/college level English teacher, and including Canada, I have lived and worked in five different countries. I have met people from all around the world. Plus, my parents are from a different background, and so is my wife. As a result, diversity has become a major theme in my novel. My characters look like the bridge crew from Star Trek. One of my female characters even impersonated Uhura once, albeit posthumously.
This was interesting that they had duplicates of some characters from other universes for the last showdown. Someone lives in the Crimson Universe, but are they friendly? One thing I am glad about this being the last book. The main character from the first universe dies. I was very sad, but I also remembered that he died well protecting his family.
In a way I am saddened by this being the last book in this series. I'm not a lover of vampires or stories about them. But Sean was able to tell this story in such a way that I didn't want to stop reading it. So many different universes, doppelgangers and time travel - how could one not stay enthralled and involved in this story! I am looking at my screensaver on my computer and can't help but wonder how many other lifeforms are out there. If they want to come knocking, look under the sunglasses to make sure they're not vampires, please. Great work Sean. Can't wait for your next series.
I used to follow this series religiously, I loved the characters and I admit that following their exploits and the pop cultural references were hell'a fun. But eventually I realized that this series wasn't doin it for me. I finally realized that all Sean Robins was doin was a rinse and repeat on the same storyline. I did end up grabbing this final book in the series to see what finally happened. Yep, same plot only this time it's about Jim trying to do the right thing. So yeah grab the book if you're interested in following Jim and the gang all the way to the endpoint... or is it!?!
As usual all hope is lost until a plan is made. Then again all hope is lost until the plan is adjusted. This book has a bit of everything. Aliens, AIs, and vampires.
Great book and great series. I have enjoyed all the books in this series.
Unusual issues and unique solutions.
Good narrator.
This book was provided free of charge with the expectation of an honest review.
It is an amazing series, and this final book has new/old characters that have many twists. I enjoyed seeing how many characters grew throughout the series. Many funny moments and some sad moments throughout the book.
Story: Outstanding book and series. It has peen a great series of books that has come into my life for the last two months I was so lucky. Do you have come across these books and I highly recommend them. I am not sure if this is the end of them, but it was a great ride.
Having opened the Crimson universe to help remove the Aax’ods, they may have released a greater danger to earth's safety. Jim and his friends from the three universe's are once again stepping up, this time to save the multiverse. Good final book, will the multiverse finally have peace?
