To be speechless, trapped without rights to her own life, forced Fiora to bury herself deep within — where her mother’s abandonment and her father’s ownership couldn’t touch her. The incessant need to claw at the world and allow the violence within her blood to be freed painstakingly held at bay. Then the man she thought to be the enemy arrives with a smirk…
He’s the head of the Tavares family ruling Radland, harbouring only a dark void within his chest — allowing his savagery to reign freely. But the world around Rawler was changing. The Varga family encroached on his territory, politicians and law enforcement put up roadblocks everywhere, and the vermin called traitors infiltrated the family. Then she created a desperation within his darkness – making the void ripple…
His powerful darkness seeks her violent light. Her violent nature seeks his powerful strength.
The Glass Goddess is a dark, spicy, emotional F/M mobster romance with tropes/topics such as Age Gap, Captivity, Morally Grey Characters, Torture, and Emotional/Physical Abuse. It is intended for an adult audience and depicts graphic scenes of violence, gore, and sexual acts. Please visit Rosana Rainhart's website for a fully disclosed content list.
Rosana Rainhart is a Swedish author who fell head-over-heels in love with the English language at an early age – especially in its written form. She writes dark and spicy romances with emotions at the forefront, weaving together twisted tales and the souls of broken people as they find love between bullets and sheets.
Rosana resides in southern Sweden, with her husband and daughter. She constantly listens to music and never runs out of ideas for books she wishes to write. She holds a degree in Library & Information Science, with English and Religion as electives, and previously worked as a librarian before creating Deering Publications – throwing herself headfirst into writing and publishing independently.
I am speechless. This was so interesting to read.. and i loved both Rawler and Fiora. Fiora maybe a bit more because she went through too much yet she still found the strength to get up and fight. I want to hug Rawler for always being there for her and always helping her. My babies deserve the world. 😭
This book was SO good! It kept me on my toes, questioning everything, & itching to know all the secrets that lay beneath the surface. The little twists & turns, fantastic world building, dark themes & enthralling plot had me hooked from the start. This book ends on a cliffhanger so I immediately rushed to read the next book🤭
Fiora is such a fighter. She went through so much yet never gave up. Although in this book she’s very much traumatised, hurt, afraid & trying to hide from the darkness. However, throughout the story she slowly starts to work on becoming more fearless & fierce. Rawler is downright OBSESSED with Fio. He’s infatuated at first sight, majorly protective over her, dangerous, morally grey, broody & cunning, yet despite being this big mobster boss that everyone is afraid of, the care & gentleness with which he treats Fio is SO adorable🥹
Fio & Rawler don’t directly interact until about 40% in which normally would bother me, but given everything that happens + Rawlers obsession with her, I seriously didn’t even notice it had been taken that long for them to interact lol. The tension was palpable, as was their care for, & attraction towards one another. Rawler being invincible & untouchable when it came to everyone else, but happily letting Fio shoot, strangle & hurt him whilst he simply stood there staring at her in awe, had me kicking my feet🤭 I loved them!
When Fiora realises she’s the collateral to collect for her fathers gambling debts, she knows it’s time to get out. In enemy territory and under the obsessive eye of Rawler Tavres, there’s more to be wary of then the circling loan sharks wanting to settle the score.
I devoured this book. The thing I love about Rosana’a writing is how much time she puts in to building not only the world, but the characters, the plot and the connection between MCs. Rawler and Fio are both in a place of uncertainty with these new rising feelings and throughout the book we see both of them try to work them out and be vulnerable with one another. She’s his weakness, the only one who can hurt him and he’s her freedom from the confines she’s always kept herself in. Whilst she makes him want to be better for her, he makes her want to unleash her darkness and embrace it. He wants to worship his glass goddess as she unlocks her true potential and she just wants to stand beside him. Plot, spice and world building balance was so well complimented that I can’t wait for the next instalment for the Marlands series.
Favourite quote: “Heartless Mobster.” “Yet you touch it.”
“He set me on fire. An icy, clashing, coldly-searing fire that burned hotter than any flame.” - Fiora
A solid 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read!! Rosana’s style of writing sucks you in and takes you on a wild ride. Her ability to transport you so you’re experiencing all these emotions with the characters is the best part of her writing. I found myself cheering on the characters and hoping for them to both get out of their own way and just let themselves love one another. A passionate slow-burn with a hint of instalove where he falls headfirst, The Glass Goddess sets the bar high. I was left yearning for more of their story, more of the underground world in Radlands. I can’t wait to see what else this series has to offer.
I love reading books from new authors with a writing style that's new to me - and I loved it in this book. Rosana really captures you with her writing and makes you ask Why? How? When? I'm so curious to what will happen in this story. There's so much passion put behind every word and so much thought. I know, that if I go back I'll find so much more hidden.
This is a dark romance with some dark elemets - so read the tw's before.
We follow Fiora who fathers owes a lot of momney to a very bad man and when she finds out she's collateral she decides it's time to get the hell out. After a night out with her best friend - I loved her so much - Rawler Tavares sees her and he's in awe of her. Putting her in the spotlight for not only the loan sharks but also the head of the Tavares mob.
There's such a connection between Fiora and Rawler, and the way this man takes care of her is beautifi. This vicious killer is so careful around her, he gives her time, space ans so much praise. It was a beauriful journey to follow.
Before I start writing my review I would just like to pre-warn you that I am absolutely terrible at putting down my thoughts into words. But for the heartless mobster and the glass goddess, I will do my best.
To make it simple for myself I am just going to start with what I absolutely enjoyed. The twist that caught me by surprise. At one point while reading I was sorta, kiiiinda, almost certain about one characters situation. And boy, was I wrong. It did not play out how I imagined at all, and let me tell you. I LOVED it. With capital letters. I was geniunly surprised - and that does not happen too often when I read books. Maybe I have just read all the wrong ones, who knows.
Secondly, any book that can make any type of sound escape from my lips, whether it is a gasp, a sob, a chuckle or just a pure "HA" - hilarious, now that is my sort of book. There were snippets in the book that made me laugh out loud just because how well written the situation was - that then led up to a comment or inner thoughts of the character. It was just described in such a good way that while I read I nearly thought or wanted to comment the exact thing the character did which just brings this absolute moment of pure reader joy - for me at least.
To wrap this up, Fiora Hall as a character really intruiged me. I have never experienced a character like her. I absolutely adore her, I feel for her, and she just blew my mind. I can't really describe in a good way why I just want to give her a huge bear hug and let her know things will be okay. I am so excited to learn more about her, her past, her present and her future. Together with Rawler Tavares of course - who I cannot even begin to describe without wanting to re-read the book so I can experience him again.
As for the spice, I can just say DEAD. A good dead. 10/10
"For once, I wish to be someone's salvation rather than their ruin."
This book hooked me from the START. I loved the friends between Fiora and Becca. Then the club scenes had me wishing I was there. Then Rawler shows up and good God he can come and take me now.
When I found out why the book was named this I was even more in love with it.
This is an amazing read. I cannot WAIT for the next installment. I need it like right NOW!
Full disclosure: it's my book so five stars, of course! 🤭
Rawler & Fiora are on opposite ends of the Underground - one a mobster boss and the other collateral for debts - and Fiora ends up in Rawler's penthouse in a twisted line of events (I mean, buying someone isn't really a grand way to declare you're interested in them, neither is shooting the other, you know?). Anyway, he falls first - before she even knows he exists beyond his name and reputation - and he falls hard. But Rawler has been trained all his life to not feel emotions so the by now pissed-off mobster has no idea what he's actually feeling for the feisty but broken goddess he's managed to capture... Are we feeling the fun times coming? 👀
These two go on a journey of violent healing, emotional and physical exploration, and the tension only grows through it all - until it explodes when anger and passion mingle (also, these two seem hellbent on never using an actual bed? IYKYK). Between bullet wounds, rug burns, moaned words of hate, and declarations of "Mine" we can't forget the underlying plot! There are moving pieces hidden in shadows, secrets waiting to be revealed, and history to unravel that will change everything while a full-on war lies on the table...
Some Tropes: Age Gap, Enemies-To-Lovers/Strangers-To-Lovers, Slowburn/Instalust, Mobster Romance, Morally Grey, Vengeance/Revenge, Unknown Identity, Tall Mid-Sized FMC with a flat chest, Bisexual FMC, Possessive MMC, Caging And Captivity, Manipulation, and more, full content list HERE.
In Short: The Glass Goddess is a dark and emotional mobster romance where few things are what they appear. On the wrong side of the law, fractured souls and damaged hearts crave what they’ve never had – even if it comes in forms they never would have expected.
• Book one in the Mara Lands series • Mafia romance (He's a mob boss, and she's the daughter of his rival/enemy) • Billionaire/Mafia boss MMC • Introvert/pauper (and something more?) FMC • Dual POV • He becomes s obsessed with her at first glance 😍 • Loved the bubbly and sweet BFF Becca • Tortuous slow burn (the kind I love) • Forced Proximity (well, at least on her part 😏) • RK level plot twist 🔥🤌🏻
I am definitely going to lack words describing how this book made me feel. I've read it a couple of times now so as to give a proper review in here but I just have to say, "wow".
I am in love with the plot and the character building since chapter one. I got absorbed in this world and Rosana's writing style is one that I adore completely. From the character complexity to the world building, it came out as a 10/10.
There was balance in the story line, it combined elements of intense emotions, descriptions, spice and intrigue that wouldn't let me put the book down for a minute.
"Heartless mobster." "Yet you touch it." Like I literally squealed when I read that line. Dialogue was very well written and.. just the book as a whole. I really cannot wait for the sequel as "The Glass Goddess" is the first book of "Mara Lands" but this was such a journey, it made me feel so many different things and.. I just loved it.
As this is a dark romance story, please read the warnings first but for me, I have to say this was chef kiss!
Did I BETA read this book ages ago? Yes, yes I did.
Did my silly a$$ thought I posted my review after the book was published? I sure did.
It wasn't until I just now finished BETA reading the second book in this series that I saw I never posted my review. WellI am making it up right now.
This book and this whole series, three books in this one are planned, is just freaking amazing. I was never a fan of slowburn but this book and this series made me love it. All the angst and banter... My God!!! It is perfection.
Be prepared that thia book has a MAJOR cliffy. I was NOT ok when I read it, but trust me it is sooo worth it.
Omg omg omg, this book was everything! I'm not usually a fan of Mafia/Mob romances BUT this one is the exception. From the world building to the character building each thing is done meticulously so! Even the action-iy scenes read like a movie (in a good way!)
All the characters whether it be our mains like Rawler and Fiora, or side characters (who let's be honest are main characters as well) like Baynard or Becca feel like real people with real problems and real motivations it's amazing!
Also, can we talk about the smut because it is spicy! If you are hungry from some on the page down and dirty scenes you've come to the right place.
There is sooo much more and it's interesting to see how some characters grow no spoilers here but just know your going to be in for a nice little ride and I'm so excited for the next book!!
Trigger Warnings: Please check the content notes/trigger warnings.
I want to give a massive shoutout to the author for graciously sending me this book so I could read the ARC of Book Two, The Heartless Mobster.
I love discovering new authors, and Rosana has really hooked me. She masterfully pulls you in, and her storytelling takes you on a wild ride, making you feel every emotion alongside the characters.
This book had me hooked from the start! Fiora and Becca’s friendship was just a chef’s kiss. The world-building, character development, and action scenes were all spot-on. Every character feels real, with authentic problems and motivations. The Glass Goddess is a slow-burn laced with just enough intensity to keep things sizzling. Amazing!
That plot twist hit me like a ton of bricks! I thought I had one character's situation all figured out—it turns out I was way off. And honestly? I loved every second of being wrong. The surprises kept me on my toes. Plus, some moments had me laughing out loud, not just because they were funny but because the lead-up and the character’s inner thoughts were written so perfectly.
Fiora is a fascinating, strong, and beautifully complex character. Rawler, on the other hand, is a powerful, protective leader who’s fiercely loyal and determined to show Fiora her worth. The chemistry between these two is undeniable from the start. Their connection grows stronger and more beautiful throughout the story, and I dove right into the next book.
In short, this book is a captivating start to a dark romance series that will sweep you off your feet. The passion and thought behind every word are palpable. Regardless of your usual genre, this story is a must-read for anyone craving an engrossing experience.
What to Expect: ••» Age Gap ••» Hidden Identity ••» Instalust ••» Kidnapping ••» Mob Romance ••» Morally Grey ••» Slow Burn ••» Violent Trauma Healing
