Coolgreany was a forgotten village in a rural part of Ireland. The community preferred to keep it this way to hide a disturbing secret. Over the years, an evil plight had befallen the residents with no clear origin, causing them to follow Robert Kavanagh’s guidance. Robert and the entire population decided the best way to manage the malevolent fiends closing in on them was to carry out unspeakable acts to help keep them at bay. But at what cost? As the hunger for human flesh and souls grows, some of the villagers realise Robert is not all he made himself out to be, and they may never be free of an evil that shouldn’t exist.
Chris lives in County Wicklow, Ireland and has been writing horror and supernatural pieces for a number of years. Folklore, based on Irish lore, was his first release and it quickly became an international best seller and continues to remain high on the best sellers list. Folklore was followed by his hugely successful second novel All Shall Suffer. Chris was also involved in a Horror Anthology, which published his short story Lambs to the Slaughter. Chris then released The Legend of Loftus Hall, which also quickly reached the top 100, followed by his next titles 13 Dead and Folklore: The Second Tale, both also ranking high in their categories. Chris then released Within Their Screams. He latest title Folklore: The Third Tale is available now.
With a huge fascination of the horror genre, Chris is continuing to build his catalogue to help put him firmly on the map in the world of horror.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "A Chilling Masterpiece of Irish Horror!"
Chris Rush does it again, with a vengeance. Folklore: The Third Tale is a spine-crawling descent into a village haunted not just by evil... but by the choices its people make to survive it. The atmosphere is thick with dread, the lore is hauntingly rich, and the characters are tragically human in the best (and worst) ways.
Coolgreany might be fictional, but Rush breathes such eerie life into it that I half-expect to see it on a real map, circled in red ink, with a warning. The storytelling is cinematic and immersive, drawing from deep roots of Irish folklore while still feeling fresh and original.
What I love most is how Rush doesn’t just deliver horror for shock value, he builds a world where the terror feels earned, layered, and disturbingly beautiful. It’s horror with soul.
If you’re into folklore, horror, or just well-written stories that dare to go dark and deep, this is a must-read. One word: WOW.
