Rate this book
One chance encounter can change your life forever, which is exactly what Willie Verns will soon discover! He had chosen a life of solitude. Being deprived of a family by the age of two, growing up at Saint Carmel Home for Boys had taught him one thing- he didn't need anyone. Willie's deep-seated desire to rebuild the business his parents had created before they were ripped away from him had led to a lucrative farming business. But his self-contained world is about to be shaken. His one small act of kindness to a quiet little boy sends Willie into a tailspin of self-discovery he wasn't ready to take. He's left questioning if his life had really been marked by injustice as he'd always believed, or if someone had been there all along, trying to make him recognize what is actually important. Will he stay the course of rigidly excluding others, or will he be awakened to the potential of opening his heart? The choice is his.Rooted is a powerful portrayal of faith, resilience, and recovery that inspires hope in the heart and encourages the soul.

Rooted: The Plight Of Willie The Red Wiggler Worm Farmer by Kimberly Morrison is a sweet contemporary Christian tale about belonging and love.
We all long to belong and to be loved. Sometimes life does not treat us kindly but we must be true to ourselves and to God. We do not want to fight hate with hate. We need to confront hate with love.
Willie, the main character, is kind. His soul is good. There is a calm, serene atmosphere surrounding him. He looks for the goodness in life.
There are some scenes of sneaky bullying and the reader longs to right the wrongs.
We all have gifts from God. Willie’s is perseverance. He perseveres no matter how difficult life is. When God has planted a dream in your heart, we must keep going.
Life is a series of choices. We always have the choice to do the right thing.
Lives overlap within the tale. This is not a ‘coincidence’. This is a ‘God incidence.’
Rooted really is a delightful sweet tale that will warm your heart.

Rooted is NOT a book that you will read and just forget about. Rooted will definitely leave you eager for the next in series. It was such a good read, I could not put it down until I finished it. The author, Kimberly does an amazing job at connecting the different characters and events together without you expecting it. I am not joking when I say I had to re-read certain scenes because it blew my mind. This book displays the beauty in life and also the not so pretty aspects of life as well. I believe that we can all agree that everyone has their own story. Willie's story was by far an emotional one as many of us have. This book portrays that time is a factor for all things in our lives. We all know that God has a plan for each of us even if it does not feel like it. It is important to stay rooted to your beliefs and to be true to who you are. Specifically in Willies case, he learned to let go of some fear and opened his heart. to pure love. You WILL fall in love with some of characters and you will be dying to learn more about other characters. Ive learned over time that love exist in multiple ways, and that love is one of the main emotions that people fear, especially if it something that you may not be too familiar with. Read this book and you will know why it is important to stick to your roots and trust in your faith. If you do those things time will push everything else along smoothy for you. Take time and read this book, it is well worth your time. I do not want to give away anything, JUST READ IT!!!!

You immediately fall in love with the main character and his story. It is the spirit of the American dream combined with wholesome, Christian values. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is because there is so much more I would have loved to have read about Willie and his life. A really great read that reminds me of the power of love and finding one’s purpose in life.

This book was very powerful. Some parts were hard to read because we don't like to think of people being that mean and sneaky. Parts of it were beautiful and inspiring.

Having a little boy say "you get to take care of each one of them, no matter how many there are or what they do, like God does for us" was powerful. It doesn't matter if you're talking about worms or sheep or babies or adults. Taking care of those in your charge should remind us of God's watch-care over us. If we care as much as we do, He cares 1000x more!

The quote about the hand you were dealt not needing to be the cards you play continues: "The life you build is a series of choices. Every decision you make along the way stems from how you view the life you were given." That made me think about how many choices I make in a day, either to be offended by something or to choose not to take it personally.

I received a copy of this book from the author, and chose to review it here. all thoughts are my own.

I have had the pleasure of taking the journey with Ms. Morrison's writing and the Created with Purpose series is emotionally challenging. Not only does she develop an amazing storyline but she also has you thinking about yourself and where you are within your own story. Her character development has you feeling as though you want to be their neighbor to celebrate their joys, struggles and comfort during sadness.

Please read this entire series.

Wow this book was so good and so impactful that 5 stars don’t seem like enough. Not only did Willies story tug at my heart strings, I felt like I was learning life lessons right along with him. My biggest takeaways are the importance of roots in our lives and our legacy, and this is not just our physical roots not even more importantly our mental and spiritual roots. This book challenged me to consider whether I was tending the soul of my mind as often as I should rather than waiting too late and how important it is to have the deep roots into the right soil.

And I was encouraged at how I can use my life to impact others in a positive way. We cross paths with others everyday, but are we making a difference in their lives. And to make a difference is deeper than the words we say. In fact it was a quiet backward boy that turned Willies life around. This book also highlighted the fact that we are made for community. It can be so easy to think we don’t need other people until we realize how much richer are lives are with others. I also loved that the author included a short author’s addendum at the end to help the reader pull life application from the story. I had never read a book that did that before and it was awesome. All in all, I highly recommend this book. It will pull at your heart strings but also lead to self reflection about life in general.
