Tricia Daniels lives in a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada, where she raised three kids as a single parent. Creativity and imagination is something there is never a short supply of in her home. Between her quick wit and wicked sense of humor she found that she has a passion for writing steamy romance novels. Her goal is simple, tell her story, warm a few hearts, shed a few tears, share a silent chuckle, and occasionally, make people blush. That's the official version. But the simple truth is... I'm just a normal woman, struggling to pay the bills and trying to raise my kids in a home where they feel empowered, supported and loved. I'd like to say that the story came to me with a gentle persuasion...but oh no! This story hit me like a full on tackle from behind and there were no foul flags thrown by the referee. Here's a little something unusual about me, well at least I think so... I'm not an author. My friends laugh when I say that. I have never aspired to write the next great love story or take the literary world by storm. I'm just a girl, who woke up from a dream with characters, scenes and a story in my head that was tied to such powerful emotions I couldn't settle until I wrote them down to get them out of my brain. This story would have never been shared with any of you if it wasn't for very good friends, who continue to try and convince me that I have a gift. Who knew? Definitely not me.
This book is labeled as a romance - I'd say a second chance romance. The picture on the cover indicates romance. And yes, there is romance, but there is a whole lot more to this story. There are relationships (parents and son; siblings; mother and daughter; and the one that got away). I call this Women's Fiction.
Seventeen years after a puzzling break-up, Alex and Maya find themselves together again. But there is a whole lot going on around them with Maya's mother being sick, her ex-husband coming back to see her and her son, signs and messages from the beyond, drama between sisters, dealing with patients with Alheizmers. I kind of could relate to a lot of what happened here, including the mother and child relationship.
I absolutely loved this story and could not put it down. Tricia Daniels has a knack for telling a great story. There is a whole lot packed into this little book (254 pages), but it didn't feel rushed. I highly recommend this read.
This was more than just a "romance" story. The cover might look like that's all there is to it, but really it is about karmic relationships that need to be revisited and resolved. The characters are amazing and this story packs a lot into 250 pages. There are ghosts and signs from the other side as well an ex-husband, ex-boyfriend, a meddling Irish mother and teenage boy drama. There is also a lot of humour thrown in for good measure, because relationships aren't just dramatic, they're hilarious. There are some spicy sex scenes, but not graphic, which is my style as far as the "romance" of the story goes.
I definitley recommend you give this book a read even if your not into "romance". Awesome story.
P.S. Don't mind the two little "blips" at the beginning. The rest of the book has no blips as far as I could see so it reads seamlessly.
A wonderful second chance story with a little bit of a twist. Maya and Alex were once best friends and young lovers. But life got in the way. Even though they lived in the same small town but somehow didn't cross paths. After a chance encounter at the high school football game, it seems they see each other at every turn.
As Maya and Alex get to know each other again, Alex is a source of strength for Maya as she deals with her mom being sick and hospitalized. Alex is great with Maya's teen son Jack. A once lost relationship buds quickly into a beautiful bloom.
Many emotions will pass as you read this second chance at a lost love.

Unfinished Business was a sweet love story about second chances and it had a little twist too. I loved reading about Mayas relationship with Alex and how they get to know each other again. I would recommend this book to any romance readers and if you don't usually read romances I suggest you read this one. This book did not disappoint and the author did a great job writing this. Thank you to the author for the ARC read of this in exchange of my honest review.
Unfinished Business is a warm and lovely romantic comedy. I absolutely love all the characters and the shenanigans they get into. It is a wonderful read.
Maya, and Alex, were best friends, first love, until it all ended. They live in the same small town, and they hardly run into one another until now. They seem to see eachother everywhere. I also can relate to Maya's secret powers. Unfinished Business is a great second chance romance.
