My Adventures on the Dash-7

Rate this book
With mandatory retirement, 59 year old Peter wasn't sure what he would do with all the time on his hands. After 37 years of flying as a commercial pilot he thought he might enjoy more time sailing, biking and reading... The chatter amongst other retiring pilots was that you could go and fly for cargo companies in Europe and even contract work for the United Nations flying Peace Keepers around. It might be a foolish idea he told his wife, but she was all for it.

In a series of witty emails, Peter has written about his dangerous and exciting days of flying the DeHavilland 7 around war-torn countries. May the force be with you!

It’s a pleasant and easy read, and gives you a good insight into what humanitarian flying for the UN is like. However, if any fans of the Dash 7 are hoping for a pilot’s perspective on the aircraft itself, or some anecdotes about it, you’ll be a tad disappointed. The plane is more a side character.
