The author has successfully depicted the transition of a Maharastrian village over a period of a decade. The grassroot level reach of politics is changing the dynamics of the villages which once were untouched by such political involvement. The issues mentioned in the book such as overuse of natural resources by profit-driven and short-sighted villagers seem to be very relevant for this century.
The characters of Murar, Baji, Sokajirao, Santaji, Baba Sawant all represent different mentalities among different classes of the society. It is really interesting how author manages to tell so many stories in such small book.
