I'm a lover of all things romance - novels, poetry, flowers and chocolate (Snickers and chocolate covered peanuts are my favorite). I also love visiting romantic destinations - the sunny beaches of the Caribbean and romantic European cities including London and Paris. My idea of heaven - a comfy lawn chair on the beach in the shade of a palm tree, with a sizzling romance novel and a pina colada. Romance rocks - every time!

This story frustrated me from the very beginning. I don't like weak, limp noodle bitches. Erin's been treated shitty and had a shitty adolescence. But you'd think she'd grow a backbone AT SOME POINT IN HER LIFE! She goes on a Spring Break trip with some girls from college. Robyn is her 'friend' whose dad paid for Erin's trip. Erin lived with Robyn's family when she was 17 for about 5 months. Robyn tormented her CONSTANTLY the whole time she was there. So why the FUCK would she even CONSIDER going on a Spring Break trip with the bitch??? She Robyn and her band of 'mean girls' dare Erin to talk to a random guy and get him to ask her out. (Yeah, because that's how college girls act on Spring Break...) So Erin fumbles her dare when she trips and dunks Dare (ridiculous fucking name for the hero!). He's a billionaire who assumes because she dunked him she's a gold digger. He seduces her, fucks her, then kicks her out like yesterday's garbage. She's humiliated (DUH!) and goes home ashamed. Three months later she finds out she's pregnant because evidently her morning sickness didn't start until her 2nd trimester. AS IF! She's almost homeless and working as a waitress. He tracks her down because even though he's convinced she's a gold digger, he can't get enough of her and he's going to pull a caveman routine and drag her back to his Caribbean island. (TOTALLY BELIEVABLE) She tells him she's pregnant with his baby so he insists they get married, without a prenup (RIGHT!), and drags her back to his island paradise. She treats him like a pariah (because he treated her like she was garbage). Her friend Robyn calls and threatens to reveal some big secret of Erin's that will make Dare not want her. Erin, the timid fucking mouse that she is, allows Robyn to come stay at their house, but after two days, she kicks Robyn out. So Robyn disappears. Erin and Dare grow closer. Hurricane hits. She goes into labor (at 6 months pregnant). An emergency c-section results in a 2 pound baby that only has to spend 8 weeks in ICU. (SERIOUSLY??? NOT HAPPENING!!!) Erin & Dare realize they're in love with each other. Robyn calls after baby is 2 months old. Erin confesses her big secret to Dare. I'm expecting something bad. She fucking shoplifted some food when she was a teen because her foster family was starving her! SERIOUSLY??? Total fucking let down! What the FUCK kind of secret is THAT??? Then the epilogue is Erin & Dare at Robyn's mom's funeral. Evidently her mom had breast cancer. And now, SUDDENLY, Robyn is sweet as pie. BULLSHIT! The story was weak as shit and the characters were ridiculous.

I bought this as part of a bundle. Good God, the hero was a douchecanoe. Often they are sort of stealthily douchey but this one is an out and out pig. Ugh. WHY are women supposed to find this sort of bullying, thoughtless behaviour attractive?

I purchased this book as part of a CEO boxset. This is the second book in the series. The first one was okay, nothing special. This book made the first book look like an award winning epic tale of love.

Wow. WOW. Dare's supposed to be our hero? Are readers supposed to lust after such a giant tool? Dare had just gotten out of a relationship with a gold digger, which apparently means that every woman on the resort laden island that he owns hotels on wants the contents of his wallet. He meets Erin while she's on a spring break vacation with her "friends". He assumes that she wants his money, which... of course makes sense. It's not like college girls go out on tropical vacations to have fun. It's all about snagging rich men, right? >.>

Anyhow, besides this, Erin is a sweet, bookish girl that seems to have many virginal qualities. Yet, she jumps into bed with Dare for an all night freak-a-thon after a day. Not just any day though, a day where he treats her like utter crap. Wow, any self esteem there, Erin?

Now after their night of *cough* romance, Dare throws her out of his house, done with his toy after satisfying his own needs. I mean, who cares if he throws her out, she just wanted his money right? Yet, when he's thinking about the events of the day later on, he thinks using the words "making love". No man that has an all night bone-a-palooza is going to think about their night of "love making". He kicked her out after taking what he wanted. That's not love, nor is what they did that evening "making" love. They had sex. Call it what it is.

So, moving on.

That one night freak-fest? Yeah, Erin got pregnant. **Gasp!** Apparently being rich doesn't mean that you can afford a quality condom, but whatever. She uses her fancy degree to get a job as a waitress, which really is the only believable part of this book for me. Yup. The economy sucks.

Now, I'm not sure what's up with this pregnancy, but it's mentioned before the hurricane that Erin looked like she swallowed a basketball, then later it says she's 6 months pregnant. Really? I understand that every body is different, but the basketball look doesn't come around (normally) until the late months of pregnancy. I'm currently five months pregnant. I basically look extremely bloated or as if I just packed on a few extra pounds in the past few months. Six months pregnant doesn't show THAT extreme (thank goodness!)

Finally, my last complaint and I swear that I'll calm myself down. Remember how everyone's a gold digger to Dare? Yeah, he married Erin with no prenup. Yeah, I don't even know if I can put into words how stupid that was to me. These characters had ZERO consistency.

Oh, oh. I lied about that last complaint thing. I forgot.. Erin's DEEP DARK SECRET!!! She stole food when she was a starving orphan. Oh noes! Really? You gotta do what you gotta do in order to survive. Such a silly woman to think that would make a difference to anyone in a way other than getting more sympathy.

Basically, overall the characters were pathetic and completely inconsistent. The storyline was stretched as far as the imagination can, and honestly? It just really wasn't worth reading. Period.

Because nothing says "I'm a hero who deserves a happy ending!" like someone proposing with "If you don't marry me I'll gain custody of your child and you'll never see her again!"

HATED it. Any man who would threaten to take away a child from a perfectly fit mother, even as an empty threat is no hero in my book.

I tend to stay away from novels having the word 'billionaire' somewhere in the title. I prefer to read more about the everyday man and woman in contemporary romance. But, as I bought a bundle of romance books for 0,99 USD and finished the first one, I clicked onto the next, which was this book. The verdict? I was right to stay away.

Why didn't I like it? Well, here are some examples, and some quotes:

I'm sorry, but for me, this is a no. I'll continue shying away from billionaire-titled stories.

“Do I look like I’m joking?” His grip tightened round her. “You’re mine and you can keep digging up all the skeletons you want. You’ll never scare me off. You’re never going to get away from me, Erin. You’re trapped with me on this island. I’ll hide your passport if I have to.” - Dare Desouza

Truth be told, I don't know why I was still reading this series, because the first two books , sucks is horrible.

Maybe I was waiting for that book that will redeem the series and the 3rd installment did that for me.

Okay granted, the hero is a kind of jerk, I mean I don't know whats worse, kicking out someone after you had sex with her or having sex with someone because you think they know who you are.

He sends her out! then later realizes he need to see her one more time, only to find out that she's carrying his child.

Fuck don't tell me you can't find someone who'll love you not because of your wealth, when you keep on reminding everyone how powerful and wealthy you are. And for the record- it's never a good idea to threaten your soon to be wife.

and Robyn sucks! why the hell was Erin friends with her anyway? she's such as sweet cough slut cough person. well, I don't feel bad that her mom dies (just kidding) you'll know why at the end.

well all is well! They got stuck in this storm, which conveniently solves Dare's financial problem, but he get clobbered by flying things so Erin had to drag him, resulting to early pregnancy (later, after they made love again *consummated their marriage after six months) and a weak baby. (this is the part, that I think was too past paced for me.)

but other than that, this installment made me want to read the next one! (maybe Judy is getting better as she adds installments)

ps: THE BIG SECRET- isn't big at all

This was such a good book. I really connected with Erin throughout the story. Erin had been brought up in foster care. When she was 18, she worked her way through college. Right before she graduated her foster parents gave her a trip to the island of Santa Marta. She went with her foster sister Robin, and some of their friends. Erin had always been the shy book worm. She had always been focused on her studies. While she was on vacation, the girls dared her to flirt with a guy. She didn’t want to play their games, but all the girls had taken the challenge. She would not give the girls a reason to pick on her. I felt so bad for Erin. On her way, to flirt with the guy she had picked out, she tripped, causing Dare to fall into the pool, and almost caused the pore guy to drown. To her shock, Dare came up sputtering, and once he stopped coughing, he picked her up and threw her in the pool.

Dare was a wealthy man use to women throwing themselves at him. He thought that was what Erin was like. He thought she was a gold digger. Boy was he shocked later on in the story when he found out she didn’t even know who he was, or how much he was worth. This ended up being a really sweet romance. Erin, and Dare had some up’s and downs but it made them a stronger couple in the end. I could feel the love between them.

Well, that's that and it is bad. It leaves bitter taste in my mouth. None of the characters are likable or has any dimension to them. The heroine is dumb and the hero is a douche, pig and bastard roll into one. I can only imagine the spoiled brat they will raise together. The secret is so stupid, I-roll-my-eyes-it-hurts kinda way. The ending meh.

I read almost the book completely but when I got to the important part where all the secrets are revealed I thought this cannot be true, I read all the book to get to this. I refuse to end it.

Originally read in 2013 as part of the Loving the CEO bundle on Kindle.

Contemporary romance very much in a Mills & Boon formula.

Dare owns the island resort Erin is holidaying on with her former foster sister Robyn during spring break in her last year at college. He thinks she’s just a gold digger (past experience hinted at), she’s surprised he’s actually interested her - the ruse is over once they spend the night and he kicks her out for the walk of shame. That’s that until Dare decides he can’t get her out of his mind, whilst she discovers her The “twist” was ridiculous and hardly something blackmail-worthy by Robyn. The ending with Robyn Dare and Erin naturally love each other after getting married. Typical M&B premise. Nothing worthy of note (or a reread)

Steam 3/5: basic scenes with some nipple play and eating out hinted at, a couple of scenes in total.

My steam ratings are sort of based on the romance.io scale as a rough guide looking at: how much sex is in the book, language used, and sexual acts.
1/5 no sex on or off page, kisses only
2/5 sex is closed door/fade to black, at least one scene
3/5 open door sex, usually euphemisms for the act/body parts, at least one scene
4/5 explicit open door sex, explicit language, at least two scenes with a variety of acts
5/5 explicit and plentiful open door sex throughout the book.

A beautiful story! Erin lost her parents at the age of 12, foster care was more than challenging for a young girl. She put all of her energy into studying and good grades. Other girls treated her poorly out of jealousy. She gets dared into flirting with a guy on spring break vacation, no one knowing he was the owner of the resort. They run into each other a couple times and he asks her out to dinner. After a intimate night, weeks later he goes after her in Canada and takes her back to the resort. They marry and have a daughter but there is a lot happening in between. Hurricanes, etc. 5 Stars!
Excellent book!

Dare DeSouza

Dare is the owner of a resort on Santa Marta. This young woman Erin keeps running in to him and he knows her game. She is a gold digger and he is going to beat her at her own game.

He invites her to dinner then seduces her and in the morning throws her out of his villa. But he doesn't understand why she looks so devastated.

Will Dare change his mind about Erin? Will they ever see each other again?

*Slightly spoiler-ish*

Like all novellas/short stories/whatever it was a superfast read (duh!). I really wish there was more to it. I really wish it hadn’t ended so abruptly and fast, but it was good, though. It was interesting.

Erin is dragged on a vacation she didn’t really want to go, but desperately needed with a group of girls that aren’t really her friends. They are not her friends, but now she’s stuck with them for the remaining of spring break in an island in the Caribbean. Erin tries her best to have fun and ignore the girls need to rub in her face the fact that she only there because one of the girl’s parents paid for her ticket.

They used every opportunity they had to laugh at her expense, and what better than to make a bet? They want Erin to approach one of the men on the pool and get him to ask her out. Erin was anything but happy with the bet, simply because she never agreed to participate, but the girls where insisting and her pride spoke louder than anything, so she went forward with it.

Luck was not on her side when she chose the only man around that was not up for her funny games. Dare DeSouza, billionaire, and owner of the resort they were currently staying at, knew the type of women that only wanted him for his money. And that’s exactly what he thought when a particular brunette pretended to fall into him and nearly downed him in the process.

Dare was having none of that, if she wanted to play, then play they would. When he later encounters her in a bar and again, she throws herself at him, well Dare is pissed, and maybe a little bit attracted too. Only he didn’t know that Erin had her motives for running into him a second time, and they had nothing to do with wanting to kiss and/or sleep with him, even though she did.

When Dare asks her out to dinner she's surprised and a little scared. Of course she wanted to go, the attraction she felt towards him was undeniable and his kiss had left her weak on the knees, but the fact was that he was still a stranger. Yet she accepts, and after a night of passion he kicks her out.

The nerve!? Why yes, he is a bit of a douche and kicked her out of his bed. All he wanted from her was a night and to teach her a lesson, to teach her that messing with men like him was never a good idea. Then why did he feel so bad after she walked away?

Erin humiliated, and more than a little heartbroken is determined to let go of that fateful night in a Caribbean island and get back to her life in Vancouver, her goal: find a job. But once again luck is not on her side, not only does she not find a job on her area of studies, but she is also pregnant. What now? No job, no money left, and with a baby coming to take care of? Erin is set to find whatever job can provide for her until she can settle back on her feet.

Dare, on the other hand, had other plans. One night with Erin had left him wanting more and he wants to find her no matter what, and so he will. What he didn’t count on was to find that he was going to be a father.

Billionaire's Island Bride was my second book in the series (why yes, I am aware that it’s the third book, but I never read them in order) and I think it’s safe to say I will be reading the remaining three soon. It was a nice read, it had its steamy scenes and heartbreaking moment, it’s definitely worth the read.

And I’m noticing I’m the only person to read this and write such a lengthy review! LOL

I liked everything but the ending. Not everything needed a happy ending or a saving moment.
Erin is on vacation with her last foster care family's daughter - Robyn and her rich friends. Erin only goes because Robyn's mom pays her way. The island is beautiful, but the company leaves a lot to be desired. They all take turns daring each other to do something and Erin hopes she will be left out. But they insist that she wade across the pool to the bar and ask one of the men out. She doesn't see the underwater bar that holds up the stools everyone is sitting on. As she trips, she grabs the shoulder of the man she was going to talk to and ends up flipping him backwards into the water. He dunks her in turn. She walks away. Later a forty something male is bugging her as she tries to get close enough to the bar in the restaurant to get a drink. She backs into the same man from the pool. He buys her a drink and decides he will teach the golddigger a lesson. He wines and dines her the next night and then takes her to his villa and seduces her. They have what to her naive senses has been the ideal all night sexual experience. Then he lowers the boom and tells her he's done with her she can leave now. She is so glad to leave the island a few days later.
Dare finds he can't get Erin out of his head. Even if she is a golddigger, maybe he can convince her to come back to the island and be his mistress. When he finds her she is worked off her feet as a waitress. He takes her home to her barren apartment. She's afraid that somehow he found out that she's carrying his child and will take it away from her because he has more money. When she says as much, he switches gears and insists they marry. His friends don't get his marriage. A business deal with someone he trusts goes very wrong. Robyn decides to visit and try to lure Dare away. Erin's only comfort is Dare's housekeeper. Can she continue living with Dare as they have separate bedrooms and separate lives. Is this best for their child?

Wow, this Bad Boy Billionaire tale has it all. Very much like the characters in this, 'Dare', what an unusual name & Eryn.

Just to prove a point that we are out there. There are some of us out here in this world that just don't give a rats about all the money & just like who we like.

Love the way Eryn tries to be independant from her so called rich bitch friends. Their intial meeting in the pool, laughed my ass off. What a moment, sparks there then. I know people like this, that keep fiends of lower status around, basically just to make themselves feel better. Been there done that.

Love Eryn's innocense, the decisions she makes with all that she has been dealt in life, loads of inner strength. Nothing wrong with just wanting to read books.

Now back to DARE, love that name. Can see from his point of view, why he first reacted the way he did. Love the fact that he persued her. Love doesn't have a status of wealth, love is just love. The little bombshell he discovers & how he takes it in his stride.

As to the ultimatum he gives her whenhe finds her again, glad he did that. It gave the opportunity for them to discover their love. Not sure that I would have resisted him as she did, not easy for a red blooded woman to hold back from such a hunk.

Great short story, loads of different content along with all the favourite things, love, betrayal, broken hearts, bitchy friends, theft, fraud, sex, drama, secrets & so much more, a page turner.

I was not really impressed by this book. I liked Erin, the main female charecter, but the beginning of the story was so fake: More appropriate for New Adult Romance NOT Contemporary. The storyline became more beliveable with a surprise twist, but then the last three chapters were predictable and a throwaway. Not to hurt the author's feelings, but i felt like my intellegence was being insulted. Really, at some point you feel like you're 13 and you're swooning over Prince Charming. Seriously????? It would have been more believable if Erin had refused to go outright instead of just wilting. SWEETIE, he's a millionaire, he can take it!!!! There was also a MAJOR factual mistake at the end which is not able to be ignored. the author obviously knows nothing about NICUs: No preemie baby would go home at only 4 pounds. Most doctors prefer a high risk baby to be 5-6 pounds before it is released. Plus, most preemie babies develop jaundice while they are in the hospital, not after they go home. These were facts that 5 minutes of research would have revealed. Sometimes I feel like with Draft 2 Digital or Smashworks authors that they are allowed write whatever they want and they think they don't have to edit or fact check because there is no one holding them accountable. I AM A READER AND I CAN AND I WILL!!!

Like all the other this is a quick read. I enjoyed this book as well Erin is one of the sweetest character's I have read in a while. She is bullied into talking to a dark haired man, Dare, and accidentally bumps into him twice. He thinks she is trying to go after his wealth but she really has no idea who he is. After sleeping together, he basically tells her to get lost thinking he got rid of another gold digger. A few months goes by and Erin realizes that she is pregnant and decides to raise it on her own because she does not want to contact him also she did not even know his last name. He comes to see her because he just can't get her off his mind but she thinks he came there about the baby. He is shocked to earn he is going to be a father and insists on her marrying him but she refuses until she is backed into a corner. After a shaky start, the two start bonding and grow more in love with the other but will a secret from her past tear them apart. Their child Soleil is feisty and determined. I really enjoyed this one.

I only read this so I can review all my old reads. I wouldn't say current me is the audience for this book anymore. It's just this writing style, it's so stilted and the constantly shifting POVs is grating. Dare is cold and just mean for most of the book, I don't know how I'm meant to get invested in that kind of relationship. Erin has a secret that she tolc her "friend" who lords it over her to get what she wants. The secret? Police caught her stealing some candy bars when she was homeless and starving. A horrific crime, I know. Come on! But none of this matters because the epilogue shows that the friend is apologetic and was only mean because she was jealous. The end. What even was that ending? No, no thank you.

Not a big fan of this book...the whole thing was just weird, and the big secret Erin was hiding was dumb, as was the epilogue.
Dare is a billionaire and owner of the resort in Santa Marta where Erin is staying. She is the odd person out in her group of 4...she's poor. The only reason she is on the trip is because her frenemy's, Robyn, father paid for her ticket. A simple game leads her to strike up a conversation with a stranger, but she ends up tripping and dunking Dare. He can't be convinced that she's just a gold digger and sets a plan in motion to teaxh her a lesson. He seduces her and kicks her out, only months after she's gone he still cant get her out of his head. So, he tracks her down, but he wasn't the only one with a surprise.

Normally shy and reserved, college student Erin Samuels goes to the island of Santa Marta where she breaks out of her shell and does things that shock even her. Dare DeSouza is used to women throwing themselves at him and he lumps Erin Samuels in the same category. Gold-diggers, that's what they all are, but this time he has a plan. He sets out to teach Erin a lesson she'll never forget...
An island romance that will keep readers guessing every step of the way... it's always in the back of your mind "oh no, not now". The only problem that i found with this book, there wasn't enough descriptive writing to allow me to be 'there' at the island. As a result, i couldn't place myself in the book. 4 stars.

So I had to see if all the books in this series were like the first one I had read, totally PG and sappy to the extreme. And they are!

I mean, this one is probably closer to PG-13, as they do actually have sex. But through the whole story, Erin the MC is terrified that her childhood friend is going to reveal a terrible secret from her past. The friend holds this secret over Erin's head throughout the whole book and it comes across as a seriously juicy secret that this malicious bitch is going to reveal to everyone and it'll ruin Erin's whole life, her marriage, etc. So you're like "Oh damn, this bitch must've murdered somebody or something!" and then the big reveal: she stole 3 candy bars when she was a starving 12 year old foster kid.

Erin and Dare meet when Erin's friends dare her to talk to him.The normal shy, reserved Erin wants to let it loose once but her once fault makes her life changes.
Dare is fed up of women trying to take advantage of him,so when he feels Erin is the next wanna be women..he wants to teach her lesson forever. But he doesn't realize that Erin is one who can change his life..from his past.

I like the book-its a short, sweet and has HEA ending with few bitchy friends and arrogant lead who turns softy in end.

Rating-3!

2.5 star. Harlequin-esque angst in the beginning. A good combination of a douchy hero and a spineless heroine. At least she managed to resist from sleeping with him again after they were married, and only succumbed after their relationship got better (I'm proud of you Erin!). It could've been a 3 star, if only Erin's secret was more serious than just stealing some candy bar because she was starving. I was kind of expecting she killed or crippled someone from trying to rape her or something (a bit of bloodthirsty mood this week).
