In the future, climate change is no longer a theory.

A millennium in the future, the climate of the Earth has changed and, with these changes, most of humanity has been lost.

On the wind-swept tall grass prairie of what was once known as the Great Plains, two communities of survivors have made sporadic contact over the centuries.

The Dome Dwellers, remnants of the technological society of the “before time”, exist in a corporate community geared entirely to maintaining the Dome, the bubble which protects the inhabitants from the intense heat, wind and drought of the “Outworld” which lies beyond.

But, the Outworld is also home to the Nomads, sub-human mutes who wander the land, seemingly adapted to the extreme heat but at the cost of their humanity.

Brought together by “The Hunt” a journey unfolds which reveals the secrets of not only the Nomads but the Dome as well.

First I must say that N. Harold Donley is a friend.

Outworld is a sci - fi story that tells the story of Daniel and Lilth. Daniel is from the Dome, a city that is separated into different working areas with a central living area. Lilth is a Gnomad, one of the people of the earth. They meet when the Dome's security force goes in search of the Gnomad or as the security forces call them nomads.

The story explores the differences between the Dome Dwellers and the Gnomads.

For a story addressing what could be the future Outworld gives you something to think about.

While it had a great setting, and pretty good characters, I had a biased dislike for the fact that the story becomes a "global warming warning"...I just get tired of hearing it re-hashed.

A unique take on the post-apocalyptic genre in my opinion, but I've not read many. I am inspired to read more now because of it.
