When their father goes missing, two brothers travel to Washington D.C to find answers. Their search takes them from the backstreets of the capital to the hurricane torn roads of the Florida Keys, where they enlist the help of the army in an attempt to save their dad and stop World War III.
Split into 4 parts, this is a rip roaring tale that will have readers eagerly turning the pages right through to the thrilling and action packed ending that no one will see coming. At roughly 17,000 words, Part 1 of this young adult serial, The Florida Chase, is a fast paced, action packed read.
With their father missing, Luke and Jordan Brody head to Washington D.C to seek answers. And, in the dusty backstreets of the capital, the brothers stumble across a clue that propels them to travel to Key West.
Arriving, they find out that a hurricane is approaching the coast. Desperate to find answers before the storm hits, the brothers decide to search high and low.
But before they can get started, someone holds them up at gunpoint! What is going on? And why does someone recall seeing their father, but insist that his name was Mr. Lake and not Mr. Brody?
Paul Moxham hails from Melbourne, Australia. He's best known for his children's mystery series which follows Joe, Amy, Sarah, and Will as they have adventures in 1950's Britain.
The book is quite okay. The story was nice. It was a bit boring for me when I was halfway reading it. But At the beginning of the story It was quite interesting. The two Brother travel in the Washington to find his Father who went missing ...Ha ! If you would like to know the story , pls read it !!
When their father didn’t arrive home when he said he would, brothers Luke and Jordan search through their home for any clues as to what might have happened to him. With a letter that leads them to Washington, D.C. the brothers drive there to find some answers that they hope will help them find their missing father, who they believe may have been kidnapped. After limited progress, they find a lead that points them toward Key West with renewed hope that their dad has escaped his captors and they head to Florida, despite the building hurricane that threatens to wreak havoc on the state and their plans to get to the bottom of this mystery.
The story progresses at a wildly rapid rate as the brothers follow the trail their father left across state lines and does follow a comfortingly familiar procedural mystery narrative formula, though it does require a significant level of suspension of disbelief with the speed at which events develop and the ability and resources these teenagers have to travel from Pittsburgh to D.C. to Key West all with very little (apparent) involvement of the police. The dialogue, though good at providing readers with a clear picture of the overall situation and development of thought processes the boys had for what next steps to take, felt a little too scripted and unrealistic, especially for teenagers. I appreciated how it was made extremely clear from the start that this is one part of a larger, serialized story and similar to The Hardy Boys series as it helped to set expectations appropriately.
this was a fun short book that I got for free off of amazon kindle i,,,don't know why it's one novel split into 4 short ones (well I do know: it's so this one can act as a "sneak peek" for the rest of the books in this book since it's free) but it's really ineffective imo the story reads exactly like the hardy boys and it feels INCREDIBLY ripped off (two brothers solving mysteries with a dad who's in danger) i'm not going to read the rest of the books in this series but it was at least interesting? i guess? it had that naive 50's energy where bad people were just,,,~random bad people~ and not actually dangerous, yknow? like scooby doo or nancy drew villain energy also they were just going on plane flights willy nilly like where are they coming up with the money for this??? also the writing style was just stilted and poor so overall it was a fun read but this was objectively not a good book
Missing The Florida Chase 1 by Paul Moxham This book starts out with Luke and Jordan they find some letters from their dad's friend. Their dad left the area to go meet with his friend and now days later he's not returned so they pile the clues together and follow where it leads them to his car. They find other clues from others and head home to pack a bag and head to Florida to do further searching. Lots of action, adventure for the boys as they get into trouble but find solutions to their problems. Ends up with them in FL and about to cross a washed out road.... Four parts to this story and can't wait to read the others.
The story was a 5 star and the book was free. But you have to get book 2 to find out what happens and book 2 was also free but if it hadn't been free I would of been left high & dry put it all in 1 book.
Although this book is written for 7–14-year-olds, I enjoyed it very much. This one introduced the reader to the characters and what they are going to be doing for the next three books. It is well written and describes them very well. I got the feeling that I was really there with Jordan and Luke as they search for their father. The situations they get into kept me wondering if they were going to be able to continue on their mission.
I was excited to receive a review copy of this book (*insert disclaimer that my review is honest and not influenced by the fact that the book was free*) because it starts out in Pittsburgh, PA, my home town. Sadly, there weren’t many mentions of popular landmarks, but alas, the book did capture my attention from the get-go. Unfortunately, it did not hold my attention and I found myself skimming through several pages. I personally found the story line to be far-fetched (Without going into detail, it is hard to fathom that two teenage boys would have the resources to go to Washington, D.C. and Florida to find their missing father or that they didn’t get the police more involved.) and dragging at times.
However, from the point-of-view of a pre-teen or teenage boy (Or girl! Let’s not be sexist.), this is an exciting story. For fans of adventure stories, I highly recommend this book.
