Humanity's greatest enemies will be revealed! Book 1 of 4 in the bestselling Wandering Stars series Since the ages before time was measured, the angelic races have existed. Unseen by our eyes, they move through creation, shaping our world, sustaining our existence, and battling demonic hordes. But the war is changing; the battle lines are expanding into new frontiers and the next epoch is emerging. Centuries after the first humans were exiled from their home, their descendants have pushed eastward into a prehistoric wilderness. In a land shrouded by mist and superstition, primitive tribes struggle to establish new civilizations, unaware that their world is about to change forever. Weary from unceasing conflict, Sariel—legendary warrior of the Eternal Realm—crosses into the Temporal in search of the only one who can bring him peace. But he is not the first; others have already begun their inhabitation. As the dominance of their kingdom spreads, threatening to engulf all of humanity, Sariel finds himself standing between his own kind and the one he loves and must embrace the life he abandoned in order to secure her freedom. In this riveting prequel to the Amazon bestselling Awakened series, Jason Tesar sets in motion a sweeping fantasy epic birthed at the very foundations of mankind, when our prehistoric world collided with supernatural forces, spawning an age of mythological creatures and heroes. Interview with the Author Q – What was the inspiration for the Wandering Stars series? A – I’ve always been fascinated by the subject of angels, fallen angels, Nephilim, and demons. As a religious person, I carried this metaphysical perspective into my study of myths and legends. And to my surprise, I found much common ground between it and the Greek & Roman gods, as well as the heroes and monsters of Norse and Viking mythology. I wondered if one might have caused the other … if the myths were actually true at their core. As I constructed the fictional universe of The Awakened series from this idea, imagining how the story would play out in our modern existence, I couldn't help but be drawn-in by the backstory as well. And the more I imagined, the surer I became that such an epic beginning required its own series. Q – What makes this story unique? A – Like many other fantasy authors, I have enjoyed reading the stories of Tolkien. The richness and depth of his invented cultures and history are an inspiration. While that level of authenticity is also the goal for my own writing, Wandering Stars pushes the conventions of the epic fantasy genre in a completely different direction. By building upon a foundation of comparative mythology and tweaking some of its assumptions, I've created a story that offers a unique and exciting view into our own origins. And the result is not your standard fare of elves and dwarves, swords and sorcery, or knights and dragons. While some of those elements are present, the civilizations are original, and the environment is immersive. What you’ll find is a tale that is both realistic and fantastical. Unique, yet familiar. It is a large-scale, prehistoric clash of civilizations that will challenge what you think you know about our world.

Jason Tesar

The third of four children and an introvert from the start, Jason Tesar grew up as an imaginative “middle child” who enjoyed the make-believe world as much as the real one, possibly more. From adolescence to adulthood, his imagination continued to feed itself on a diet of books, movies, and art, all the while growing and maturing—waiting for its opportunity. Then, during a procession of monotonous, physically laborious day-jobs, his imagination leaped into motion, bringing together characters and locations of a world that would someday come to life on the pages of a book.

In late 1998, Jason made his first attempt at writing, managing to complete a whole scene before returning once again to reality. A year and a half later, a spontaneous night-time conversation with his wife encouraged him to take his writing seriously and to keep on dreaming. Over the next seven years, Jason carved time out of the real world to live in an imaginary one of epic fantasy, science-fiction, and military/political conflict. The fruits of this labor would later become the first three books of the bestselling AWAKENED series.

Due to the incredible support from readers around the world, Jason continued his trajectory into make-believe, jumping from stable employment in the micro-electronics industry into the mysterious abyss of full-time writing.

Living in Colorado with his beautiful wife and two children, Jason now spends the majority of his time fusing the best parts of his favorite genres into stories of internal struggle and triumph, friendship, betrayal, political alliances, and military conflict.

Great spin-off/prequel to this authors other series The Awaked but can totally stand alone. I rated it only a 4 because the odd character and place names along with their descriptions in the beginning were hard for me to conceptualize. If I had not already read the Awakened Series and known the talent of this author I might have stopped reading but I am glad to say the chapters following the 1st did Not disappoint. The story picks up and takes off quickly dragging you with it. My advice is to at least read the first few chapters before putting this book down. You can read a detailed synopsis at the authors website www.jasontesar.com

Jason Tesar, a modern fantasy master in my opinion, has plunged into a prequel to his Awakened series and has crafted another great fantasy adventure with a unique, believable world, great characters and a plot that keeps you turning pages. Add to the fact that he regularly offers his books for GREAT prices and this is book is one any fantasy lover can't pass on.

Things to know: This is an adult book with plenty of violence, references to sex, rape and murder that may be inappropriate for young readers.

A Dense Read

I struggle with books like this where so many of the words seem foreign and incomprehensible. As with most fantasy, the author crafted entire species with completely original names. My confusion is due to the author's investment into this world.

In all, it was a good story, with a pretty straightforward plot. I did like the fact it leaned into some of the Biblical characters and added a grand sweeping and epic story between the angels, the Holy One, and disobedient angels. I also thought it was intriguing how different the varying factions of angels were and how each faction had a different role.

In all, good read.

Loved this book, that related Saba's origin and journeys. The author provided a nice mix of fact and imagination to create realistic angelic scenarios in this tale of fallen angels.

I'm speeding through the alphabet now, and Incarnation by Jason Tesar was my T.

When I started reading this book, I found it hard to get into it. It starts in a battle in the Eternal Realm between angels and demons and seems a bit same-old. But do persevere as it does get better. Sariel falls in love with a human, which isn't permitted. There is also the story of Enoch who is a prophet - he leaves his home, wife and child, to walk miles in order to preach the Holy One's message. Unlike other prophets, his message was for angels...

As a Christian, this was my context that I put the book in, but I would be interested to know if it can fit other world views or religions that have angels and demons?

So yes, I found the beginning of the book a bit unnecessary, many of the names of places, types of angel and their weapons have too many vowels (including 'y' as a vowel) - silly I know, but that's how I felt. You do get used to them, and understanding the differences between the types of angel becomes more relevant as the plot progresses. I confess, though, that I still didn't understand all the different weaponry: vaepir or vandrekt amongst them. I also don't know why they are always written in italics?

Once I got into the main part of the story, I did enjoy it, and have added the next in the Wandering Stars Series to my wishlist.

Light on Storyline

Yes, this book has angels and plenty of them. Many different groups, with complex names and varying descriptions. So many, that I absolutely got lost and stopped caring about the different kinds. What this book lacked was a discernible plot line. Some angels were mad at other angels and a third group was mad at all of them. Almost all of the last third of the book was a blow by blow description of an angel battle, with almost all the dialogue written in “angel language” with no interpretation except a very detailed description of the movements made by the warriors after the “command” was made. I found myself skimming the book after I lost interest in all the fighting. I’m sure this was a thrilling read for some, but the plot felt a little too stagnant for me.

Unexpected.

I unfortunately couldn't find anything among the endless sea of free books that Amazon has to offer. Suddenly as though Sariel himself shifted into the temporal realm Incarnation illuminated in a humbling manor. Description alone was enough for my interests, immediately I was hooked and read this book constantly until it was finished. Halfway through I knew I would need more unfortunately not being able to afford the next instalment I went for the latter and decided to start the awakened series. Unexpected author, unexpected subjects, I will look forward to more of the unexpected.

I had very mixed feelings about this book. Although well written, the protagonist is someone -- that if you believe in God's word-- that turns out to be a fallen angel. I suppose that is what gives the book it's interest, and I did find it interesting and engaging. But for me, it's hard to root for someone that is inherently evil and in rebellion to a Holy God. His choices are selfish and ultimately deeply self-serving.. Others that have read this may disagree, as you see from the preponderance of reviews. Of course, if the character was not flawed in this way, then you wouldn't have a story or a plot worth following. Not sure if I'll go looking for the 3 remaining books in the series.

Am in two minds here. Do I give it 5 stars for story and imagination, description and plot, or do I give it 3 stars because all the angelic names confused me (kept having to stop to figure out which tribe was which)? All aside, though, I did read it all! And that means it has that ‘something’ to keep a reader interested. When I got to the end and read the author’s extras, I understood more of what the intent behind the tale is, and because of that (aha moment!) I’m giving it 4 stars. Definitely worth reading, and I suspect what comes next in the series is too!

Good story

I'm not a religious person but the story was good. It took me a little longer to read just because of all the hard names of things. On to the next book in this series.

now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

i would highly recommend this author and this book.

I downloaded this because of an ad on Facebook and it was free, though I didn’t pay attention to the author. When I really looked at the author, when it was time to read this book, I realized that I had already tried to read a book, Awaken His Eyes, by him and couldn’t finish it. I had already written it down in my book journal so, I figured why not.

I don’t know what it was about this book but I just can’t get through it. It’s a really interesting idea but the writing is just so boring. It shouldn’t be, what with all of the stuff in it, though that may be a reason I wasn’t getting interested, there was just too much.

There was just way too much description about the scenery, which was detrimental to the action, it didn’t feel urgent when it was supposed to be urgent.

Also, all of the different names was just lost to me, I couldn’t keep them straight in my head and it was always a new name for something.

I only made it a couple of chapters in but, I just couldn’t continue on with it.

Thank you for reading my review.

Once I got into the second chapter, I was hooked. There are lots of new words to learn, but Jason Tesar has a glossary in the back of the book. And I also liked how he combined Enoch's story with biblical references. This prequel tells how Sariel came to be on this plane, and is no longer in Heaven. There are many fallen angels on Earth, but not all are bad. I enjoyed reading both Sariels and Enoch's story and how they ened up working together. The ending was satisfying, but made me want MORE. So, Jason Tesar, how long do we have to wait?

DNF: Normally I'm a huge advocate for finishing a book (Authors put in a lot of hard work and they deserve a full shot) so I tried and tried to slog through it, but it became such a chore I had to give up. I got a third of the way through. The descriptions felt forced and overwhelming at times, and the action got lost because of this.
The excess of names was confusing, and It was hard to keep things straight.

It wasn't a bad story, it just didn't hold my attention, which, truth be told, is rare. Maybe sometime down the road I'll try again, but I doubt it.

Interesting

I enjoyed learning about the angels, but I still remain puzzled as to why God doesn't keep them in rein. And why would they ever choose to leave God and live among the humans. Maybe they are conceited enough to think they are better, even though they are, to circumvent our existence.

The first installment of this series had its moments, but overall, it's fair at best. I may embark on the second book at some point, but there are better options available to me, so it won't be any time soon.

Great premise but had a lot of problems keeping track of characters and following the plot. I think this might be caused by this book largely being back story for the Awakenings series. After a break I will give the first of that series a try

Interesting Story

This story was hard to follow at the beginning but somewhat came together toward the middle. The writing style was not my favorite but the concept made it a fairly enjoyable read overall. I plan to continue reading this series so that says plenty.
