[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, werewolves, HEA]

James Nash was shocked to walk into his mother’s house and discover his mate, Donovan Morgan, waiting there. He’s even more stunned when he learns that his new mate isn’t even gay. Having lived in the closet all of his life, James isn’t quite sure what to do about it. Especially since he and Donovan can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other.

Taking a chance that they were meant to be together, James and Donovan try to give their mating a try. But, before they can truly explore their new relationship, a madman bent on proving a point shoots Donovan.

Between crazy situations, crazy killers, and even crazier relatives, Jim and Donovan strive to find a middle ground in their lives together. But, when Donovan is called home by his alpha, the chance to work on their relationship is the least of their worries. Keeping each other alive may prove to be harder.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this one didn't seem to flow as nicely. The whole story felt a little stilted. There were little things that bugged me in the phrasing, it made it hard to really enjoy the story. It was nice to see how Jim and Donovan got together, but I wish their story hadn't relied so much on the previous stories. This books timeline seemed divided into what they were doing in book 1 and then time jump to what they were doing in book 2. Most of the actual development of their relationship seemed to have happened in the time gap.

I'm giving every book in this series two stars because they're badly written and the characters are all obnoxious clichés, but the story is interesting enough for me to want to find out what happens in the next one.

Too much overlap :(

I liked Jim and Donovan, but there was just too much going on for me to really get to know them. I also wanted to know the reactions for their coming out from both families. We missed it. It was told to us, in a brief sentence, but that's it. Pretty significant part considering they were both "straight". I wanted those feelings of coming out. I can see Jim telling his mom, but what about Joe and Daniel? What did they say? Especially after the conversation Joe had with Donovan in the truck.

I do want to know more about Virgil. Is he going through the same things that Chase did? I want to know about it.

So much of this was repeating scenes from the last two books that I admit I started skimming (which I never do) but I'd say a good 50/60% of this book wasn't new material. I swear. There were bits in the start obviously about them meeting (even the start is kinda an overlap) but it didn't fully feel like I could read without knowing what was happening until about 70%ish which is just crazy because I don't reread for a reason, I hate it, so I really struggled with this one but the stuff that wasn't repeats was pretty okay so I gave it more than one star.

I won't be continuing the series because I cheated and looked into reviews and I'm not interested in the stories anymore.

Ok, ok... this was a bit better BUT....
First things first this book is a reedition of a short story and i happy about that because they deserved better. I like the couple because isn't a domineering figure with a submissive and smaller partner. Changes! They both are fighters and very mainly (obviously neither one of them cooks: look a theme!). Okay, i will be nice. I like Donovan and Jim story, but my main problem with this book is the reedition of scenes from previous books. It's a bit lazy. If will write about that why not off scenes of book 1 and 2? We don't need the same scene from a different character except if are major: A death, a explosion where the character thinks that someone is there. In this book are so many lost chances of a look in a off scene but we have the repetition of the same scene in Don ou Jim POV. Not good and is only because that this book don't have 4 stars for me. Ahh and i like the fact that James likes to polish his nails without the "talk" about rights or wrongs about his manlyhood.

2014 Re-read/Review:

This was mostly new to me (or possibly half of it, anyway), since I’d only read the short version of it years ago. While this rewrite is cool, it also is not quite as cool as I might have expected given the huge increase in word count.

Because while the book itself might be okay (for what it is), the way it reuses lengthy scenes and dialogue from the previous two books make it extremely boring to read. It's also lazy and a lot of what is said does not even really apply to the story at hand. The POV shifts are not pronounced enough to justify having pages upon pages of text simply copied over. So I guess in the end I only get half of a fresh story. (I only hope the next several books will not continue this trend. We sure have an epidemic of matings to catch up with already, and most of it overlapping or actually happening simultaneously.)

As for the plot, well… It's pretty sad when the only way the author can think of to introduce conflict (aka tension) between her protagonists is by having one or both of them be super-touchy and uncommunicative. Sulking and wilful misunderstandings and refusal to communicate in even the most basic ways do not make for any interesting kind of plot or even interaction. It just makes the characters look like buffoons.
The reason I am going on about this is because this is pretty much the pattern set by these first three books in this series. It's no wonder that I used to confuse this author with Joyee Flynn back then. (The latter is still using this device, as far as I know. Not that it is much of one. Gah.) Guess thus far the protagonists are always complete idiots towards each other until they get in touch with their emotions and end up wanting to talk about their feelings non-stop. It’s such a female cliché that I hesitate to even comment on that.

In other non-news, the writing is still awkward with entire paragraphs more or less repeated at times. Silly stuff. And I won’t get started on the misrepresentation of what occurred in the other books. Or the mismatch of information certain characters can possibly have gained at those respective points of the story.

I’ll go to bed. Too tired to think anymore, much less continue reading.

The revamping of this addition to the Wolf Creek Pack was a good choice by this author. As the original was only a little over 17000 words, this version is much much longer and delves deeper into the relationship of these two characters.

Donovan Morgan and his brother Chase have been sent by their packs Alpha to help with a situation that has come about at the Wolf Creek Pack. Upon arriving, Donovan is introduced to his mate, Jim and the two have a fast moment once they realize they are mates. It is during this moment that we find out that Donovan is straight and James is so far stuck in the closet and has no intention of coming out.

Issues arise during a supposed meeting and Donovan is shot. Jim, seeing hit mate on the ground with a bullet hole in his chest, rushes to his side. It's his mother, MaryAnne, that pulls Jim from his transfixed state, and his own voice that informs her... "he's my mate."

The story then evolves into two men needing to get past their own issues to be together. But once the slightest bit of happiness and contentment hits; more issues arise, this time with Donovan's packs.

I really liked this version better. We got to learn more about each of the men and we got to see their relation evolve. The events that take place once both men return to Donovan's pack are tension filled and very serious.

A part of me wondered how the author was going to blend this longer version into the surrounding already written stories and then set up for the next one. Sometimes it can be harder to fluff up an existing story than to write a new one, but Stormy Glenn did a beautiful job with the additions to this chapter in her Wolf Creek Pack Series.

Jim and Donovan were always well liked characters, yet I did feel the first time around that they were the couple that got short changed, with their story being apart of an anthology book and not one of their own like the rest of the couples. This time around, I was thoroughly happy with their story.

Well done on this revamp Stormy. I loved these two men and hope to see more from them.

I was seriously debating on what to rate (2 or 3?) this for a few reasons.. First of all the first 40 some pages sounds EXACTLY like the original so nothing new there. Moving on the the expanded part, there was maybe ONE more sex scene the the remaining pages of the book. I'm not saying that should be the majority of the book but in a 100 odd pages just one scene? Not a fan. While I always wished there was more to Donovan and Jim's story than the short one this, while entertaining, seems to me more like trying to fit it to the middle of the series history that you've already created. Plus the boys are still figuring out where they stand as a couple being just mated and now throw 2 kids in to the mix. Obviously in real life things like that happen it just didn't come across to me in this expanded version. If this had been done within a book in the series I think it would have come out better but like I said the series events have been written in stone so to speak at this time so have to fit this story into those lines without going over it. I would definitely read any following books to the series (from the end point of the line) but this book didn't do it for me

Possible spoilers:

This one was soooo much better than the first two. Jim and Donovan really gave me so many feels. I love the progression of them realizing they were mates, having their own demon and overcoming the without too much angst. And when Donovan was hurt and Jim was over him begging him not to die...it gave me chills. And the kids were just the icing on the cake. This is what the other two books in the series should have read like. And while it was far from perfect, it was a vast improvement. I think it will enable me to continue on with this series...and because I really want to see what happens with Chase and his two troublesome mates.

It kind of recapped/refreshed Book 1 and Book 2 in the series for a good part of the book. I didn't read the short version yet so I'm not too sure of what the differences are. I will get to it since I do have it and will review the differences for the Tasty Treat Anth.

There are some errors that weren't caught in editing but overall it was a good read and the characters are quite likable/cute so that helps too.

(After reread done 7/1/2018) ~ I'll admit that Jim didn't come across as whiny to me this time I read the book. I loved that neither man had never been with another man and the learning curve was entertaining..... as was Jim going to Nate for instructional advice! ;-)

I liked this third book in the series. Jim was a little whiny for my tastes, but Donovan totally made up for it.

Together they made a great couple and very sexy.

Mostly a recap of what took place in the previous book but from Donovan and Jim's POV. I really enjoyed it though and the ending was so sweet! I hope the author does the same thing with Chase and his two mates.

This story had similar bit to the last book. If you read them in the right order you already know from the 2nd about the HEA. I like the book and the struggles but I think I didn't enjoy it as much because I already knew stuff. Still great storyline again.

The Series is amazing this book was particularly one of my favorite just because of the twist interns I’m not going to spoil it for anyone. I do think it was a little long and had a few characters that I would want to have explored so I’m hoping they’ll be another book.

Enjoyable but lots of grammatical mistakes

The story is great but this entire book is in need of a good editor! There are incorrect character names, context errors and other incorrect content that really affect the enjoyment of the story.

I liked the revised, longer version. However, 20%, Nate started calling Jim by his mate's name, Joe. Some bloopers missed in editing.

A fairly well written book, but it cited to much of book one, almost as if it was rushed. Still an enjoyable read.
