More delightful, disturbing literary mash-ups. This time the topics are:
Alice V. Snow White
Loki in 90210
Sid Vicious meets Voodoo Queen
Emily Dickinson Meets Death
Dr. Moreau V. Hollywood

Read this after I discovered The Looking Glass Wars and developed an interest in reimagined fairytales. I forget exactly when I read it in 2012 (though it was summer or later) and my exact thoughts; I liked it, but didn't hold on to it, so I imagine it was probably around a three.

I'm afraid I cannot give this book a glowing recommendation. Mostly due to the fact that only 2 of the 5 stories appealed to me.

The tale about Alice and Snow White was entertaining. A rather different take on the magic mirror and the looking glass. You got a clear image of how the world worked and got a feel for the characters quickly.

The tale of Loki was just not as engaging. Loki's dating life is truthfully not a thing that interests me. Especially, as the story hints at the events prior to this story which sounds like a far more interesting read. Unfortunate that.

Sid Vicious's tale just didn't intrigue me. I have little interest or knowledge of the Sex Pistols to begin with, but beyond that I have little interest in reading sexual conquests and drug addiction.

The tale of Miss Dickinson and Death is the reason this gets 3 stars instead of 2. It was lovely. It was poetic (taking real life quotes to further embellish the story). I truly got wrapped up in the story and would be happy to read more by that author.

Dr. Moreau had a few quotable lines, but overall it didn't really speak to me. It just didn't. I think it would appeal to other though and may be worth a read for a different person.
