Not bad. Not bad at all.

This is a collection of six clever short stories, each haunting in its own way. The high point for me was "Juliet", which was one of the better examples of its kind. The first story, "Her Words Make It Go Away" could have been drawn out about another 50 words and I think been a stronger story for it, but all in all, there's nothing to complain about in this collection.

Excellent storytelling, not too much gore, the horror residing more in the psychological and situational than in the visceral. Well worth a buck.

Some excellent stories here, particularly Genevieve Taylor's Juliet-- a sad tale about the boundaries of love and animal instinct, and where those boundaries intersect-- and the ever-entertaining Richard Thomas' Wicker Park Pause, which offers a nice twist on a classic horror narrative structure. Pick this one up.

I've read Volumes 1-5 of this very affordable ($1/ea., duh) e-magazine and have enjoyed the stories. The editors find good, solid writing that's, erm, bite sized, and then present it in a simple and, again, very very affordable format. If you like horror and want some stories you can read while wolfing down your lunch at the corner hot dog stand, then One Buck Horror is for you.
