Witch's Bell #2

Witch's Bell 2

Rate this book
Ebony has had just enough time to pat her hair down and wipe the ash and magical residue off her heels, before yet another ridiculously powerful entity starts threatening her lovely little town again. This time she's a little distracted though. Sure, there might be something incredibly sinister going on underneath the streets of Vale. And sure, she keeps finding rather large, worrying gaps in her memory. But the Wizards are in town for their yearly get-together, and one of them just so happens to be the most handsome magic man she's ever seen. And he even wears fancy suits.

But pleasant distractions aside, Vale has no intention of letting her sit this one out. Soon Ebony is chasing after monsters in the sewer, having tea with wanted criminals, and finding out just how to deal with a certain jealous detective.

Better plot in this volume

Things picked up a lot better in this volume than in the first one. While the first volume was fairly introductory in itself, and not quite engaging at times, the second volume goes right in the thick of it with interesting turns. We get to know a lot more on the wizard side of things this time around and it was all quite interesting :-) Ebony does Ebony things, and we get to discover a bookstore in a new light :D I'll leave it at that, I did enjoy this one thoroughly!

Side note: I still can't deal with the mental pictures with characters sucking their bottom lip or doing weird things with their lips when thinking... Or whatever... It's weird. But I guess I get over it each time :-)

The first book in this series did not exactly grab me, but this one made me more of a fan. This time around I was ready and got into the story a lot quicker with a lot more interest in what was going on. The fact that Ebony seemed a bit more subdued and not so manic and annoying helped get me there. The plot here was a lot tighter and well thought out, at least for me, then the first which I completed but was not sure if I even liked the character. The characters felt more real to me here though I am still not fully invested in the world they inhabit.

After almost losing herself and being rewritten months ago Ebony has finally found her purpose and balance in life. She and Harry the bookstore are doing well and she has moved in to be closer. Things are going well with her job. The only thing seems to be that the police are busier than ever as magic seems to be running amok and her job seems to never end.

Something deadly and sinister is happening in Vale and Ebony is about to find herself at the center of trouble once again. And just to keep things interesting she is being courted by a handsome wizard from out of town named Aaron Heart who is in town to talk about security for a wizards convention. Meanwhile, Detective Nate Wall seems decidely jealous, though he hasn't made a move of his own.

There is only one thing that really bugged me and that was the fact that so many words had been misused throughout the book. The word 'where' was used when they meant 'were' as well as 'allowed' for 'aloud'. It kind of throws off your train of though while you try to make sense of it.

The books are sweet with a hint of danger and darkness with the potential for romance eventually. Ebony Bell is a likeable character most of the time but sometimes seems a bit naive for someone who grew up a witch. I hope to get better acquainted with the other characters who populate Vale.

Witch's Bell Book Two

This is the second of the series of the adventures of Ebony Bell a young witch. The adventures in this book take place almost entirely in the sewers of the city of Vale. A smelly place for the adventures to take place but the story is fast paced with lots of twists and turns.
Please read and enjoy, I did!

Good to read but bad at answering questions

As with most series of books you will find yourself wondering and asking questions you hope to be answered. I have found the answers I need to questions from the first book are still in answered and will continue to read the series to figure it out, but I fear maybe they won't be answered and there are more questions now.

Nearly 5 stars!

I was soo close to giving this book 5 stars but I really feel that its ending let it down a bit. It was too quick, and not everything was really explained as to why everything was over. It just was. Other than that, a great book, a great series and I look forward to reading the next one :).

A lot of this book felt too similar to the plot of the first - Ebony getting mind freaked and gaslight as she dodders along unsuspecting…it’s like all the lessons of the first book never happened. But like the first book, the end of the book was great and full of metaphysical mind freaks of its own. The humor and romance of the first book was not in this one.

Think I purchased this one after reading the first one free on Apple Books.

Don’t think I enjoyed it enough to purchase the 3rd.

This adventure continues…

Wow, I don’t always think this, but Bell book two was better than one. I will be starting Witch’s Bell Book Three in about 15 seconds!

Excellent

I really loved this book's plot and the intrigue. The characters have their own personalities and this gives depth to the story and makes it so believable.

Good Storyteller

But a horrible proofreader. The author's errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar really detracted from my enjoyment of the tale.
