O calibre deste romance é algo de outro mundo...que amor bonito, puro, verdadeiro e especial. É por amores assim que se ama este género literário.
A Eve e o Alex têm uma das histórias mais bonitas de sempre, são a prova de que não devemos desistir dos nossos sonhos e dos nossos amores - o que é nosso a nós virá com tempo...
Adorei cada momento que passei com este casal, adorei as aventuras e desaventuras deles e das personagens secundárias - foi tudo incrível 😍
Uma palavra para descrever esta história: apaixonante.

Not as good as some of the other Nicole Jordan books I've read, but still pretty good.
Our hero was in love with the heroine since they were young, but she was sold into marriage to another man to save her family, and now she's widowed and determined never to wed again. The fact that her marriage bed was a place of painful duty rather than passion, and the fact that a widow has more freedom in that society than does a married woman, has convinced her to stay unattached.
Our hero, of course, sets out to change her mind, but rather than court her openly, he goes about it very subtly, even going so far as to blackmail her into his bed. Not one of his greatest moments, but I have no doubt either that it was more a case of giving her an excuse to give into her passions than it was to actually force her into anything, and had she TRULY not wanted it, I didn't get the feeling that he would've really forced her.
The threat against her life was rather forgettable (honestly? It's been less than a week since I finished it and can't remember who the villain was lol), but of course served the purpose of throwing them together, with him in the "protective" role and some such.
Overall, not the best thing I've ever read, but a very nice way to pass the time nonetheless

I've liked, and sometimes loved, Nicole Jordan's work; I had this book on my shelf a while before I decided to read it. Too bad - I really enjoyed this one! It was just my kind of story; brave hero, member of a secret society of Guardians, has loved heroine since they were teens. She marries for money to save her family. Husband is cold, controlling and possessive. When husband dies, hero decides to pursue heroine again, after earning megabucks as a mercenary. She, of course, is determined not to marry again, ever. There's some mild intrigue, but the pursuit by the hero was determined, sexy, romantic, and pretty darned hot! What's not to like?

i randomly picked this book out in an attempt to get me out of a reading slump, knowing that i'd need something indulging and juicy to keep my attention -- and that is just what jordan gave me. sweet and captivating, jordan displayed a love story that took place when class, title, and wealth were all taken into account when marrying rather than experiencing matchmaking based off of preference, comfort, and love. the effective showcasing of how a fairytale-like romance like this came to was so captivating and even heart-wrenching. i am happy to say that this book has jumpstarted my old liking for reading, as well as my overall standards in men. thank you ryder

Ella pertenece a una importante familia aristocrática venida a menos y él no es más que un simple trabajador, pero no importa, la chispa surge entre ellos, sobre todo por parte de él, que es consciente de que tiene que prosperar económicamente, y no encuentra mejor camino para hacerle que convertirse en mercenario. Pasa el tiempo y él regresa a su hogar, esperando poder estar por fin con su amada, pero se entera de que esta ha sido prometida en matrimonio con un acaudalado aristócrata y todas sus esperanzas se desvanecen. Los años pasan y se volverán a encontrar cuando ella enviude, ¿tendrán su segunda oportunidad?
Lujuría no es una novela erótica, el sexo en ella es tan importante como lo puede ser en cualquier otra novela romántica adulta, pero no es, ni mucho menos, el centro de la historia. Alex y Eve tendrán una nueva oportunidad para estar juntos, pero sólo si ellos quieren, porque el tiempo ha pasado y ya no son lo que eran, sobre todo ella, para quien el matrimonio no ha sido una buena experiencia. Ella ve el matrimonio como una cárcel, ha aprendido a apreciar la libertad que como viuda disfruta, le gusta poder escoger por sí misma y moverse a su libre albedrío dentro de la encorsetada sociedad londinense. Casarse de nuevo significa convertirse en la propiedad de su marido y no está dispuesta a sufrir de nuevo. He disfrutado mucho de estas reflexiones aunque es cierto que la cabezonería de Eve a veces se me ha hecho un poco pesada, pero la he entendido siempre.

Alex Ryder has always loved Eve Montlow. This book has some of the same characters as does Desire. Lord Dare and Lucian, Earl of Wycliff, are Alex's friends because Alex, too, worked for the Home Office. Eve is now a widow, and Alex is determined to win her. He buys himself a title and a house across the street from her London home. Then he enlists the help of her twin siblings, Cecil and Claire, in an all out campaign to win her love. The Guardians, the group to which he belongs, come to save him and Eve in a fiery attack. Alex is of what every woman wishes, a man who loves her beyond reason.

Ryder has been in love with Eve since he was 16 and she was 11, which, frankly, was a little creepy. She's forced to save her family from financial ruin by marrying a man who only causes her pain when they have sex and monitors her every move. When he dies she vows never to marry again.
Enter Ryder who conspires with her younger siblings (fraternal twins) to get Eve to marry him by getting her to matchmake for him, thus forcing her to interact with him.
Ryder shows Eve sex can be pleasurable which was the best part of the book, except then there were many repetative sex scenes.
Then someone is also out to kill Eve. Ryder spends even more time with Eve, trying to keep her and her family safe (no easy feat with her and her siblings not listening to his orders).
Eve is, at times, unlikeable, especially in the scene where she and her aunts do not stand by Ryder's side after he saves Eve (he's repeatedly saved members of the family) and take the side of the culprit instead, merely because he is of the upper class. It was disgusting. Frankly, if I were Ryder, I would have washed my hands of them all.
I found the book quite redundant in their mutual commentary on each other's the physical attributes. The Epilogue was terrible, just more sex.

I was anxious to read Ryder story and this one was good! Again, I have the feeling that Nicole Jordan picked up some things from Fever Dreams and Wicked Fantasy to make My Fair Lover. Ryder wants Eve a long time (So does Brandon, hero in My Fair Lover), Ryder asks Eve to play Matchmaker (so does Brandon), Ryder is certain that he wants Eve for his bride (so does Brandon), Eve is green jealous of the other prospective brides (so does Kate). The story is good, at least the side characters are funny and witty! I loved how he chipped away Eve resistance and how, for a change, a hero doesnt fight his feelings about the heroine. It was a better reading than Wicked Fantasy, but I'm glad that I finishid this serie. It will be a long time before I pick another Nicole Jordan book to read.

Tenía muchas expectativas para la historia de Alex y aunq cumplió en su mayoría, hubo algunos detalles q no terminaron de calar; y como no me gusta dar puntos medios, la dejo en 3 estrellas.
Me gustó Alex y su historia de superación, aunq creo q hubiera estado mejor si se ahondaba más en sus comienzos y no como un contexto superficial a su enamoramiento juvenil.
Eve es la típica protagonista femenina, delicada, hermosa, rubia. No me pareció particularmente interesantes, salvo x el hecho de su matrimonio forzado y su determinación a no volver a casarse x eso. En líneas generales Alex y Eve convencen como pareja pero creo q tardan demasiado en concretarse x los remilgos de ella aunq Eve no tarda demasiado en aflojarse el corsé, una vez q nuestro héroe toca los botones correctos.
Los atentados contra la vida de Eve le ponen un sazón especial a la historia, xq la verdad no se me podía ocurrir xq alguien querría matarla pero tengo q decir q al final le faltó intesidad.
En cuanto a los personajes secundarios, prometían mucho pero no terminó bien. Macky ya había tenido apariciones estelares en las novelas anteriores y creo q lo suyo pudo haberse aprovechado mejor. Y en lo personal, no tiene mucho sentido q las tías solteronas aparezcan tan encopetadas para después aceptar tan fácilmente los matrimonios inconvenientes de sus niñas.
Cuestión q, empezamos bien, pero la trama se podría haber desarrollado en forma más profunda, pero al final como q la historia va decayendo y termina como muy a las apuradas.
Lo peor es q parecía anunciar un quinto libro, pero no lo he encontrado, así q parece q nos quedamos en cuatro.

This is a beautiful story about the hero winning the love of his life ❤️

Para quem gosta de romances de época creio ser uma boa opção :) É uma história que entretém e que nos mantém interessados. O heroí da história sempre esteve apaixonado pela Eve mas, esta teve de casar sem ser por amor. Quando o seu marido morreu a última coisa que Eve queria era voltar a casar sentindo-se, novamente, presa... Por isso, podemos dizer que aqui temos um #slowburnromance
.
Acho que a parte de a Eve correr perigo não é assim muito impactante mas, faz sentido na história e permite Alex Ryder fazer de herói e protetor - o que acaba por os juntar ainda mais.

Clichê… mas Entretém
Eve e Alex descobriram o Amor na adolescência e amaram-se desde então. Porém, razões de força maior impediram que o casamento de ambos se concretizasse, levando Eve e Alex a enveredar por trilhos de vida divergentes. Volvidos alguns anos o marido de Eve pereceu num acidente de caça, deixando Eve viúva e desencantada, sem qualquer intenção de voltar a casar. Porém, Alex já foi informado sobre a súbita viuvez de Eve e… planeia reentrar na sua vida…
Déjà vu?!…
De facto, trata-se duma premissa deveras banal. Porém, a verdade é que, irá redundar numa trama bem urdida que não faz bocejar! Dir-se-ia que o Rato pariu um Morro 😜
São 4 estrelas, nada favorecidas - afinal de contas, não é todos os dias que um rato dá à luz uma montanha 😜

Bom malta este livro desiludiu-me um bocadinho…
Tive alguma dificuldade com a escrita da autora e sem dúvida o método dela não é o meu favorito… também tive alguma dificuldade em ligar-me as personagens, apesar de compreender Eve… tive alguma dificuldade em criar laços com ela.
Os capítulos não eram propriamente pequenos, e a meio do livro estava um pouco “farta” da leitura. Sentia que a história não avançava…
Gostei do livro mas não o adorei. Para quem costuma ler romances históricos (não é o meu caso) provavelmente vai gostar. Para mim acho que o grande problema foi não me ter ligado a escrita da autora.
Fora isto gostei do quotidiano representado no livro ✨

Is it bad.. that I lost my interest after the first lovemaking they had? I just felt bored at the rest of the story..
I wouldn't say the writing was good, especially at the beginning.. it made me cringe. I don't know why, but as I was reading, it becomes more descriptive and a hell lot of more exciting, though after their union.. I felt blank and now, I wanna read the other book I bought. which sucks because I really wanna finish the book.

Lady Eve and Alex Ryder. He is member of the Guardians who protect those who need it. Eve is a widow who is a matchmaker and has know him since children and he has always been in love with her but beneath her station.
