Serena Garrison is in the midst of an epic dry spell. The pretty real estate agent can't seem to sell a house or find a decent date. She desperately needs to get her groove back in both departments. It certainly doesn't help matters that her family business, Kingston Brothers, has hired the object of her teenage lust to be their senior landscaper or "Exterior Property Development Consultant." Now he's everywhere, reminding her of their humiliating history together and threatening the future of her family business with his crazy and costly ideas. All she needs to do is avoid Mark, sell a house, and find someone suitable to spend her life with. If only Mark wasn't quite so drool-worthy and difficult to ignore.

A busted knee has shortened his career with the NFL, but Mark Goldsworthy has returned to his hometown on a mission. First, to make restitution for his alcoholic father's part in almost ruining Kingston Brothers. Second, and most importantly, to claim the woman he's always loved. Part one of his plan is going according to schedule, but part two is going nowhere. Serena isn't an adoring and awkward teenage girl anymore, and she doesn't want anything to do with him, which makes claiming her a bit difficult. But he's more than up for the challenge.

Warning: Contains erotic situations and some graphic language.

Okay, I'm actually pretty boring, so please don't be disappointed to find out that I am not actually married to a giant, alpha male with bulging muscles and jockey shorts. I don't even know a guy like that, though I wouldn't mind meeting one in real life rather than just my own twisted imagination.

What's interesting about me? Well, I'm a writer, but I also have a full-time office job which I actually enjoy when it's not sucking the life out of me.

I was ridiculously close to my mother (she passed away in 2019) and we actually used to look at real estate together, just like Lacey Ferguson and her mother from "Open House." The premise for that book is actually based on an Open House we went to one year where we met the devastatingly attractive builder. He very innocently showed us around, not even suspecting that he was going to be the subject of my next book. To this day I smile when I pass those particular townhouses because this poor guy has no idea that he's the subject of a romance novel that's been downloaded all over the world. Not him, exactly, but an idealized version of him. I wonder what he would think if he knew? Hmmm... I would email him if I knew his name. (Now, wouldn't that make for a good story? Hunky builder finds out he's the subject of a romance novel and seeks some revenge in the form of erotic torture....)

What else? Well, I've had the same hilarious best friend since 1985. We went to high school and university together and spent many nights watching movies and going to comedy clubs and bars. (Also drank our fair share of wine coolers during this period. It was the eighties. We had big hair too.) We live at opposite ends of the country now, but typically text just about every day. She's married to an incredibly patient guy and has two almost grown children now, but we still manage to keep our friendship alive despite living completely different lives. (And we drink Mondavi instead of wine coolers now.)

Yeah, I'm pretty lucky.

When I'm not writing about bulging muscles and jockey shorts I go for long walks and watch a lot of Netflix.

When I actually do sit down to write, I'm always surprised at how quickly time passes when I am in that creative space. After "Lost & Found" was rejected by Harlequin and Avon several years ago I stopped writing fiction for years. I was almost done the sequel, "The Love Laws" at that point, but I just abandoned it because I figured that writing was not my thing after all.

When I started again in 2014 I was shocked at how easy it was to submerge myself in that world, the one I had created for my characters. I also found a valuable lesson in being a writer. I'm in complete control of what happens next, but that doesn't stop when I retreat from the keyboard. I'm also the author of my own life and if the plot isn't going in a direction I want, then I have to take steps to get it back on track. Of course, in real life I can't kill off an irritating person with a particularly aggressive case of syphilis, but I do have the power to write myself a happy ending. I just have to figure out how to make it happen.

If I have one message for readers, it's this: Thank you for reading my words. Whether you paid full price or got it for free. I sincerely hope I've succeeded in entertaining you and giving you a little escape from a life that can seem mundane and occasionally downright cruel. If my work has made you smile and hopefully a little hot, then I've succeeded in my intentions.

Keep reading and I will be at my computer, looking for creative synonyms for penis.

In all honesty, my favorite thing about this book is its cover. Sadly, I was somewhat disappointed with it. The main plot was pretty good, I liked Mark and Serena but there seemed to be a sub plot that just didn't work out. I liked seeing Jack and Lacey in this one, in fact I liked them better in this book than in their book. I also liked Jacob and maybe he'll get a book next and it'll be a bit more developed.
Not my favorite series, but I have definitely read worse! I would give this author another try if she writes a book for Jacob...

*update* I just checked the authors blog and she does have a continuing story planned for that sub plot I mentioned, which makes me like it a little more. Especially if the book is Jacob's, as he wants to be a cop and I think it could come together nicely.

There is something very charming about this series. This one isn't about a Kingston brother but their cousin Serena. Serena and Mark have a past. This book has a little bit of flash backs and misunderstandings and a lot of hurt feelings. I only wish the Karl was fleshed out more. I thought that there would be a conclusion about what became of him. He was a complete freak. But all that build up and then just kinda nothing much, unless there is more in Jake's book. Otherwise I really like this series.

This was another quick read for me and it was better than I was expecting. This story follows Serena Garrison and Mark Goldsworthy as they finally get together after years and years of wanting each other. Serena is Mark’s best friend’s little cousin and the last time he saw her, she was too young to date and didn’t deserve what Mark could give her so he turned away and she went away, hurt and disgusted with him.

Now, it’s years later and they’re thrown together because they’re both working together with the Kingston brothers and Mark is just as attracted to Serena now as he was back in the day. Serena is wildly attracted to Mark still and she’s pissed at herself for that because he is not for her…at least that’s what she thought, silly girl.

Mark busted his knee and that brought his career in the NFL to an end so he’s back home, working in landscape with the Kingston brothers to 1) atone for his father’s mistakes and 2) to move on with his life after the NFL. He’s doing the best that he can but he drinks too much and Serena has definitely noticed. Serena works the real estate part of the Kingston brother’s company and her job is to show off the houses that the Kingston brothers build and sell them to the highest bidders. With Mark working the landscape jobs on each property, they run into each other often.

When Mark decides that he wants Serena, he goes after her and keeps going at her until she surrenders and while it was entertaining at times, there were times when I wanted to smack Serena upside her head. She threw tantrums that had me rolling my eyes down the street but it all ended the way that it was supposed to end and that was good but the ending felt rushed. I wish that Mark would have made Serena grovel a bit more after the way that she fled. Then there was the whole thing with the stalker guy that I couldn’t really care about. He didn’t come off as scary, more like eww creepy and annoying and when that thing came to a head, I was glad.

Overall, this book had some good points and some bad but I’m not mad that I read it. The romance between Mark and Serena was cute (even when they were driving me crazy) and I found myself mighty intrigued by the Kingston brothers, all of Serena’s cousins. I’m definitely thinking about reading the other books in this series.

This book was just kind of weird for me. It was a little cheesy but it was well written and I was glad that there were no typos, like so many other books have lately. But I thought that the storyline needed some help. I also thought that the part about Karl was really weird and didn't fit into the story at all, at least with the way the author ended it. The storyline could have gone without it, or the author could very well have built upon on it, but it just kind of was neither here nor there. Didn't really enjoy this one but it was a quick read.

Eh not a favorite. It's short and the story not bad except... The h is a brat that can't see past herself. The H was apparently turned child prostitute by his father and its no big deal. Not to mention the "bad guy" that isn't really significant even though we get his life story. Plus you hear for characters who had this own book in the series.

If you read the first one you might like this one. If I had to guess it was probably better.

Hot and bothered

A fun and sexy contemporary romance. Mark and Lacy have been fighting the sensual attraction for each other since she was jailbait age. A merry go round of attraction and missteps makes this an excellent read!

Awesome read!

The crush she threw herself at when she was only 15 has returned and she is still both angry at him and hot for him. Ten years have gone by since they were last together and the sparks still fly.

Mark was wonderful, hot and not perfect but a good guy in the end. Serena came across as hard and the changes in her attitude and how she came on to Mark in the end was fun for both of them and fit with their personalities and how they reacted to one another. Karl was a scary one and he acted as the motivation for Serena to make changes but it felt like he would be in next part of the story in the next book.

Facing past mistakes, which both characters did is a way to show how people can change as they mature. Accepting the other person with their mistakes and being able to move forward is another sign of growing maturity. In Hot Property the changes is what I liked the most about Mark and Serena. (The wedding scene was pretty nice too.)

It was okay! I don't tend to like past love/infatuation stories, however there was enough banter between the two main characters to make me want to find out how they would end up. I hated that Mark got pimped out at a young age, as he could have put his balls to better use and stand up to his father. I also didn't like the 3 week break as it left much to be told. It was too fast paced but I guess in the end it ended up with a happy ending.

A quick read with some steamy sex. I'm not the biggest fan of random flashbacks in the middle of narrative but I was able to look past it. It would have been nice to have a little more resolution on the Karl front but I'm assuming that's an ongoing arc that will be revisited.

This book was a free Kindle download I picked up 08/23/12 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.

I think the story was cute. But I would have preferred better character development for the reader. More of who they are now rather than who they were and the fighting they're experiencing now. I felt like Serena was really not a likable character as I read in this short, but she didn't really seem like that was who she was and that bothered me. Part of this could be that I've read this one out of order, but I don't know for sure.

Second installment of Kingston Bros. Not as funny as the first one and I felt a little inconclusive. I've been looking for the other books as it hints to a continued story but nothing so far. Though I'm not head over heels by the books, I don't like to be left hanging and would like to read about the remaining brothers.

I liked it, it was a little quick though, and some of the background stories were left unresolved so hopefully the next book will address some of those. I also didn't like the 3 week break, but it all ended up ok.

Cute story of a long denied love. Some strange POV that shouldn't be there and jumping into characters' heads that make no sense.
