The only problem with my plan is that I find myself stuck with an insanely hot hockey player who has probably received too many blows to the head if his willingness to follow my every crazy fantasy is any indication.
I guess we'll both have to play the part for it to work.

This was the most perfect blend of smutty and wholesome, filthy and easygoing that I’ve ever read in a novella 👑👑 I genuinely think I’ve found a gem here.
This authors writing was so engaging and I never skimmed once. Gahhh it got me blushing,, giggling, HOT ASF and overall so happy I can’t get over it, can’t get over them!
THE SMUT WAS FIREEE I HAVE NO WORDS JUST READ IT-
Small moments are my kryptonite and this was written so PERFECTLY. It had everything I wanted. The hugging, the aftercare, skimming their thumb on the other’s cheek, unashamedly staring at the other, calling each other baby LIKEEEEE 💘💕💖💝💞🦋💓💗
The COMMUNICATION was so good. I love that the fmc wasn’t some bumbling girl but knew exactly what she wanted and said it. And that the mmc wasn’t an ass but the cutest golden retriever with a dominant streak MY BRAIN IS MELTING RN
These 230 pages easily beat so many books with over 500 pages of random filler in between. Each chapter got to the point. There was nothing unnecessary, and the third act was resolved quickly and it was the most ADORABLE third act ever 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 I literally wanted to sob on the floor bc of hm i love Levi.

This is MY opinion but I received an ARC from the author.
I’m so happy that I was able to receive an e-ARC of this book. Once I heard about this it became one of my most anticipated reads. It has everything that I was looking for and I felt a bit represented by the h. If not for one detail (a personal preference) this book will be a 10/10.

The book was super fun, steamy, hot, and even “Real”. By real I mean that normally these novellas tend to be OTT (I’m here for it) but this one doesn’t feel crazy. For me, it’s something that can happen in real life.
The H is great. H is obsessed with her and it’s 100% on it. There is minimal miscommunication and he will have to go through that if that was what she wanted even tho it will have killed him (emotionally)
I felt a bit represented by the h. I mean she is 22 and I’m 23 but for the rest, I will say we are pretty similar. Except for Levi, WHERE IS MY LEVI???!?!
It’s the first time that I have read a book with this dynamic. We have different types of scenarios and they are all pretty hot.
Great communication. Except for a minimal one almost at the end, they talk about everything and put a safety word and talk about STDs. Good job!
There is NOT OW drama. And just a tiny bit of OM drama bc she asked first her childhood friend.
Even tho (spoilers for the cons) H is NOT celibate after meeting h. He has been celibate for a while (almost a year?) As I said before, H has always had a crush on h so I will prefer he is celibate or that there is no mention of H being with others.
Finally, there are some crumbs about h and H in the next book.
The Cons:
This can be summarized in one thing. Double standards. h is a virgin (hasn’t even had her first kiss) while H has been with others AFTER meeting her. He is a bit of a manho and I just wish that he wasn’t after meeting her. h didn’t give him any signal that they can be together but idk I just LOVE it when once they meet there are no others. There are not many mentions of his past but there are some and I didn’t like that. I forgave him bc he is actually great and adores the h but I just hate that I'm not good enough for her so I’m going to be with others. But he was celibate for quite some time so there’s that.

Listen, let me start off this review saying this: if you’re looking for heavy prose or Shakespearean level writing, this novella won’t be that. There’s no over-the-top stakes, or an overarching motif, or Inception level plot twists.
However, this novella doesn’t claim to be that, or even want to be that, for that matter.
Playing the Part by Macy T. Riosa follows college student Dani, who on the side publishes erotica fiction to her blog with mild success. When readers claim her inexperience with sex is beginning to show in her work (and well, they’re not so wrong on the inexperienced part), Dani seeks to find a partner to test out her roleplay scenes after writing them, to ensure full accuracy, of course.
Enter Levi, the hockey player Dani has been tutoring for the past 2 years. While he isn’t her first choice for the arrangement (not due to lack of wanting), they end up finding their way to each other, and to some seriously sexy fun.
Dani and Levi were just two sweet people that found in each other a genuine friendship, with a gradual buildup of affection and trust. And in that trust, a safe space to explore their inner desires and ideas was formed. They are each other’s safe space.
And honestly, get you a MMC that:
✔ Consistently encourages your passions
✔ Is confident enough in his masculinity to try almost anything once and has enough emotional maturity to discuss personal boundaries
✔ Buys you all your favorite snacks when you’re sad/sick
✔ Sneaks into your class to take notes for you when you complain you feel sick
✔ Remembers all the little details
Overall, this was a great read that came at the perfect time for me, after nearly going into a post-5-star-but-heavy-read coma. This was sweet and spicy in all the best ways, and sometimes there’s truly nothing better than watching two good people fall in love and have hot, kinky sex.
I’ll end on this: I would’ve given this a full 5 stars just for the premise alone, but I just had to dock a bit off because we had the perfect set-up for that billionaire MMC x maid FMC roleplay with domination, spanking, and breeding (with no actual pregnancy) and it just… didn’t… happen. That’s like the greatest hits of kink (for me at least)!
Also the writing overall was a little weak.

Listen, when I started this book I almost DNF-ed it because the first smut scene had me questioning if it was worth it 😭. I just about lost it when he started stuttering 💀-yes I get it was roleplay but the outfit and the acting had me rolling (not in a good way) 😭.
BUT I'm so glad that I stuck with this book. Small editing/ grammar mistakes aside this story was just so fun. I found myself laughing so many times and just fell in love with these characters.
Their relationship was romantic and personal and just so sweet- I literally sent my friend an unnecessary amount of voice notes about how cute one of the scenes was. Levi & Dani's communication was everything and I loved how the story played out.
Overall it was just so fun- and I really enjoyed reading it. I can definitely see myself re-reading this because let me tell you, the comfort care scenes, mixed in with their amazing communication (and smut), just led to such a lighthearted, and easy read. (and Dani was so real for the ghost face scenes lmfaooo).

This book was all spice with the tiniest bit of plot imaginable thrown in there for flare. It was a great book to read after reading Iron Flame. It got me out of my feelings so I don’t have to deep dive into those quite yet. It was short, spicy, and the characters are lovable. Only thing is if you don’t like cliques this book is not for you. It is full of them, but I will say I didn’t expect the last scene before the epilogue through me in for a loop and I loved it. It was the perfect spicy ending. I almost didn’t read the epilogue, but I did and felt like it was really unneeded.

Dani and Levi are study buddies and Dani approaches Levi with a particularly head-scratching problem. They’re friends, so who is Levi to say no? And thus starts their unconventional but entirely mutually beneficial arrangement.
I loved the characters, their communication (really about everything but their growing feelings for one another), their openness to be vulnerable and really ask for what they want. There is enough role reversal to pique your interest at some part throughout the book.
Overall, it was a good, fun read!

Macy T. Riosa is rapidly becoming one of my go to authors.
Though this book contained one of my pet peeve,
virgin FMC x reformed manho MMC.
However it did not deter the love I felt for these two, Levi is a down so bad, downright obsessed, fell first AND harder swoony MMC.
That boy was willing to put up with Dani’s nutcase requests to reenact her book scenarios to be a better writer, as well as he binged all of her books to better understand her 😭😭😭 I love him so much. He even gives his input on some of her books and suggests different scenarios to role-play.

Levi has won me over so fast. His inner dialogue was great, he was so funny. I loved how thoughtful he was to Dani, very dreamy. Dani was a breath of fresh air. She was funny and light-hearted. Despite her lack of experience, Dani wasn't ashamed of it.

This novella's story revolves around role-playing, and that alone had me in a chokehold. I was low-key expecting more scenes, though, I'm not gonna lie. But all those that happened were very satisfying. Macy knows how to write her smut. It was such a feel-good novella, the pace was perfect for the book's length, in my opinion.
The highlights in the story for me it was refreshing to see two characters in a friends-with-benefits/fuck buddies situation that were open to that becoming more (although they didn't talk openly about it). On that note, they were great at communication. Gotta love his kind of relationship. They were very honest and open to each other. It was so damn cute seeing them falling in love with each other so naturally.

Also, it was kinda cringe how he called her kitten.
The first time he called her that was so random and so unnecessary. You just don't go around calling people such names?? Also girls calling guys 'baby', sounds so off to me!! (And cringe. And weird.)

idk what to say other than it was a cute premise, but was written really… lamely? like it was just all very cheesy. like idk what drugs you guys are on to be rating it so highly, but truthfully, that is none of my business.
– Basically, Dani writes romance novels online and her audience has been commenting stuff about how she clearly hasn’t experienced any of what she’s writing irl, specifically the smut scenes. they’re like “clearly you’ve never seen a peen irl”, and lowkey, I feel like it would be impossible to tell any of that unless it was written by a legit child, but that is beyond the point.
– Levi, the hockey player she tutors, offers to help. it’s cute. they roleplay. he’s in love with her. whatever. blah, it got a bit boring. things that happened seemed very unrealistic. I just wanted it to end.

Holy Shit! Did my water just broke? Or my period just came? (hint: i wasn't pregnant and i already had my this month's period)
I swear to God, this has to be one of the cutest and kinkiest novella. I love how both of them are so honest and obssessed with each other like no glitches whatsoever. (my inner jealous demon was awaken tyvm).
All the roleplay scenes (which is like 80% of the book)? God have mercy.
And the book literally ended with “Forgive me, father, for I’m about to sin.”
I was like OMG *flips to the next page*
just to find myself greeted by a giant
THE MOTHERFUCKING END (OR IS IT?)
HAHAHAHA anyways, i had fun, enjoyed it, ate it up very good, damn i even licked the plate lol.

You do you! It was cute but the epilogue threw me off a bit? Then I've read it's kind of connected to the author's Blood and Water series and it made more sense 😅
