Never Forget Duet #2

You Never Forget Your Worst: And He’s The Best I’ve Never Had

Rate this book
Antonio Nuñez has made the stupidest mistake known to man.

He fell in love at first sight. Even worse? Nikki McClane, the woman with his heart in the palm of her hands, is his little sister’s best friend. And the morning after their magical New Year’s Eve kiss, she claims to have no recollection of their night together.

So for the past seven years, Antonio has had a front-row seat to Nikki’s string of failed relationships. You know, the ones she actually remembers.

But he’s made it a point to be a thorn in her side. He taunts, teases, and infuriates her any chance he gets. He just can’t help himself. So when the opportunity arises, Antonio decides to show Nikki a side of him that she’ll never forget.

Nikki McClane has been unsuccessful in love… again. Fresh off of a break-up, she could really use a vacation. So when her best friend offers her a week at a luxury resort in the Dominican Republic, she jumps at the chance.

The catch? Her best friend’s older brother will be joining her. If only Antonio’s personality matched his godlike physique… minus the permanent scowl on his face, that is. But that’s what she deserves after lying to him—and herself—for the past seven years.

Because she remembers what happened the night she met Antonio.

She remembers it all too well.

”i just wanted to belong.”
“you could have belonged to me.”

“fuck it. you’ve always belonged to me.”

where do i even begin?! a romcom must-read for sure!!
and guess what, it’s available on august 3rd :)

nikki and tony have such the perfect mix of a loving relationship with tons of sass mixed in!! i really loved how perfectly these 2 characters fit together and how we got to see their emotional journey with one another throughout the whole novel.

nikki and tony met 7 years ago at a party for new year’s, and nikki claimed to have forgotten everything they’d been through out of fear, which haunted tony forever since he loved her at first sight. when they’re forced to go on a trip together organized by tony’s sister, past revelations entwine their lives once again. AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!

seeing tony and nikki argue and then be absolutely head over heels for one another is the highlight of this story for me. i absolutely LOVE both of them so much. and together?? they’re even better.

i loved this book so much and i’m so grateful to millie perez for the arc. definitely recommend reading this one <3

OOOOH I loved this second chance, forced proximity, dual POV vacation romance SOO SOOO MUCH!!!

Picking up where You never forget your first left off with a recovering Amelia sending her brother Tony and bestie Nikki on a tropical holiday in a remote Dominican resort where you guessed it, there's ONLY one bed!!

Second chance romances with flashbacks are my absolute catnip and Millie did this one to perfection with short chapters, flashbacks and such great chemistry building!! She truly upper her game with this sophomore novel!

Nikki and Tony spent one magical New Years Eve together seven years ago where Tony fell HARD but Nikki was too scared to risk her friendship with Amelia on a love that she's never had work out before.

With the help of a young girl Anna at the resort, Nikki and Tony learn how to put the past behind and take a chance on something real. I loved that there was no deception in this story, both characters talked about their feelings and it was so REFRESHING!! The open communication and therapy rep (him) in this book was top notch!! 👌🏻💋

Millie doesn't leave us hanging with the spice either. This book is door wide open with multiple HOT and STEAMY 🔥🥵 (shower) scenes. Things get SPICY you guys and I was totally HERE.FOR.IT!!

I could go on and on but just read this book for yourself and discover the joy that is Nikki and Tony finding their HEA, realizing new dreams and reconnecting with estranged family members.

It was a pleasure to read an early copy of this book and I can't wait to see what the author writes next if the hints we got in this story are anything to go by it's going to be AMAZING!

My physical copy is out for delivery but I couldn’t wait to rave about this one and celebrate its release. The cover alone is another irresistible @inkandlaurel work of art!🙌🏻

4.5⭐️!! The banter, the enemies to lovers, the sexual tension and the fact there wasn’t a third act breakup and the couple actually communicated WAS AMAZING!!

Seriously, I’m blown away by this book and the story that Millie told. Nikki & Tony’s story was so fun and deep and emotional. We get to see them have their second chance and be actual adults about it without the horrible miscommunication and breakup. Tony is the blue print for book boyfriends!! He was so kind and caring but also sassy and funny. Nikki was so relatable (love is scary and I feel her!!).

Also the most loveable side characters!!

This was my first Millie Perez book and it definitely won’t be my last!!

Only teeny reason for not a full 5 star is the 7 year gap between them meeting and then getting their second chance. I understood why it had to happen and I think it made sense for their character arc but I wish they could’ve not had that long between reconciling and maybe had the conversation earlier. but I think it’s just because I love these characters and don’t want them to go through pain LOL 🥹🥹

Cringe and corny. Also, can we stop pretending that this trope; he wants her but can’t have her, so he starts/pretending to hate her is interesting enough? Especially for the MCs who are in their 30s?

Okay, I'll be honest y'all...I initially saw this becoming a 3 star read. The beginning was a bit slow and felt dragged out which is why I probably took a month to finish this book lmao (A MONTH WTF?!?!?). I won't lie...I did contemplate DNFing this but I'm glad I didn't because the last 40 percent or so made up for the slow beginning. Usually, I'd be hella triggered if I knew that the MMC had been in love before and that the FMC wasn't his first love. But in this book, it didn't bother me that much because I could clearly see how devoted Tony was to Nikki (hello my beautiful namesake <3). And the fact that there were no double standards i.e. both of them were with other people throughout the seven years that they weren't tg/after they first met instead of the whole "heroine stays celibate because she's hung up on the hero"? Yeah, I really liked that. I also loved how Millie touched upon so many sensitive topics such as mental health, POC struggles and so many tiny details with regards to the Latinx community that I related to even as a South Asian. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would totally recommend it if you're looking for a swoony yet spicy, insta love, second chance-ish romance!!!

P.S. For someone who was so excited to see my namesake in a book, I sure did take my sweet time reading it lol😂

How do you do that?
Do what?
Make everything feel better.

- love at first sight
- one bed
- forced proximity
- best friend´s brother
- found family
- dual POV
- open door

Falling in love at first sight. Only a few people get to experience that.
Nikki and Tony meet at a New Years Eve party and immediately hit it off, but everything changes when they find out how they are both connected to Amelia. Things get complicated, lies are told and there come seven years of secretly pining for each other.

I definitely enjoyed reading this book. I love the slow burn and how the more time the main characters spend together, the more they start realising that they no longer can hide their true feelings from each other.

"I no longer want to sulk in the shadows. I want to dance in her light."

"… there is nothing that could tear me away from you."

"Hi. I think I love you."

The throwback chapters were a nice touch to the story. I loved getting glimpses of their past.
Nikki and Tony go well together as a couple, they completely balance each other out. Their teasing and sassy comments will keep you laughing and kicking your feet in the air. They also take such good care of each other. All I am saying is chapter 38.

"I´ll promise to spend every day from now until my dying breath making sure you never doubt the love I feel for you."

The book also offers an understanding of the importance of our mental health. Millie doesn’t shy away from exploring heavy topics. We get to read about grief, discrimination, growing up feeling alone and not loved by your parents. She also shed a light on the pressure of being an immigrant and its effects on future life.

It was heartwarming to not only see our couple grow and heal together, but also witness Nikki repairing her relationship with her parents.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the lovely author. Thank you, Millie.

Tropes: forced proximity, one bed, insta love, he falls first, and did I mention he’s a total caveman? 🫠

This is my first read from Millie and man did she just gain herself a new fan! This book has me laughing out loud! It was such a fun read. 💖

YNFYW follows Nikki + Tony who previously met 7 years ago on NYE and had an instant connection! 7 years later they CAN’T STAND each other oh so they say…. right off the bat the banter, sarcasm; and chemistry between the two had me HOOKED. I loved the found family Nikki found through Amelia + Tony’s family, the mental health representation which is HUGE IN A LATIN FAMILY. I love reading about a LATINO MMC who was self aware, kind, and secure with himself without displaying machismo!! He was everything!!

The spice?! MISS MILLIE!! That shower scene had me FLUSHED!!!! Let’s just say TONY KNOWS HIS WAY AROUND A SHOWER AND BED. ✨

Thank you so much to Millie Perez for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Hehehe this book was so much fun!! I can always count on Millie Perez to deliver a rom-COM (heavy emphasis on the com part) that will have me laughing out loud and grinning numerous times throughout the novel. I was super excited to be following Nikki and Antonio in You Never Forget Your Worst after picking up on some ✨vibes✨ filled with tension between them in You Never Forget Your First. What I didn't expect in addition to the tension/forced proximity was the incredibly heartwarming, tender, and romantic moments Antonio and Nikki shared both when they first met 7 years ago and during present day. Every moment where Antonio was internally begging Nikki to “remember” the night they shared and then begging her to not leave him once they finally got together was so precious. We love the good old “he falls first but she falls harder" trope 😌. Also, the open-door scenes this time around were amazing!! I had to fan myself multiple times—Antonio and Nikki have such good chemistry together 🔥.

Additionally, I really loved the discussion Antonio has with Nikki about being a former police offer. As an author of color, Millie Perez does a great job of discussing police brutality and the fact that the NYPD (along with many police departments across the U.S.) often brush 'controversial' incidents (where their officers are often at fault) under the rug from the persective of a person of color. I know I would never find a discussion like this in a cop romance book written by a white romance author, so I really appreciate Millie Perez for taking the time to discuss it.

Now that I've finished both of Millie Perez's works in this series, I'm so excited to read her future novels! From some of the new characters we met and the hints of romance that were dropped about their backstories, I feel like we may be getting some potential baseball romances in the future 👀 (single dad baseball player, or hate to lovers in the sports industry anyone?). I'd give this 4.25 stars rounded up!

I had so much fun reading this book!! You Never Forget Your Worst is full of snark and sass and incredible banter. I was positively giddy the entire time I was reading.

Millie’s writing has improved exponentially from You Never Forget Your First. She feels settled in this book, like she understands her voice and her confidence is higher. She also transitions from closed to open door romance and does it INCREDIBLY well. There is one particular shower scene that absolutely SENT ME. It was hot af.

Millie doesn’t shy away from difficult conversations, either. Mental health and therapy rep are at the forefront, but she also includes the expectations placed on children of immigrants, growing up feeling alone, and found family.

This book was truly a delight and I am so excited for everyone to read it when it releases next month! Thank you to the author for the eARC. 🤍🤍

* arc review *

The beginning was fairly interesting however Antonio really seemed like a major hypocritical a-hole. Nikki putting down other women who took an interest in Antonio (before they were even together) threw me off.

I was very confused as to why they hated each other. Like why did they do all of that. It seemed a bit unnecessary.

At some point, their chemistry got lost and it didn’t feel like they liked each other.

The whole gang guy who is the reason why she was in danger and whatnot was unnecessary. The book would have been fine without it.

Lastly, the tiktok viral stuff is…not it for me.

Evan and Antonio’s friendship is actual goals for real.

OHHH NIKKI & TONY. I really didn’t know how Millie could top Evan F**KING COOPER, but she sure did.

I absolutely adored this book. Millie does an amazing job and making you laugh, bringing the heat 🥵 and also bringing the emotion into her work flawlessly.

I really loved the way Tony’s character let loose when he noticed that Nikki was struggling with her mom and had opened up to him.

I loved the vulnerability and honesty in Tony’s character while battling with if he wanted to continue being a police officer with the way the force was going. She broached the topic of police brutality honestly and head on and i really respected how it was done.

It’s giving forced proximity, one bed, he falls first but she falls HARD, he’s giving aspects of a cinnamon roll hunk as well.

I really truly adored their story and cannot wait to see what this author has in store for the future!

Thank you Millie for sending me a copy of your new book 🥰✨

Since the start I knew that I was going to devour this romance. The banter, the ANGST, the sarcasm between Tony and Nikki was incredible (I was desperate waiting for them to have an interaction after all those years). Nikki was such a baddas and Tony was this sexy and confident Latino man (are we surprise? Bc I am not 😏) and their chemistry was off the charts. The spice scenes were perfect (specially the scene in their hotel bathroom 🥵 I was hyperventilating ).

Their second chance romance was everything I needed and more, especially their dynamic and the way that they would fight was just so GOOD!!!!!! 🤌🏻💋

I can't wait for you'll to read this amazing romance as soon as it comes out. 🥹🥹

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5 stars!! This is the ultimate enemies-to-lovers story! Antonio and Nikki shared a kiss years ago, but Nikki doesn't remember— or does she? Now, his sister sends them on a vacation together as a thank-you for helping her, even though they can't stand each other. Their banter is hilarious, and watching their relationship shift from rivalry to something more is so satisfying. I also loved the found family aspect and getting to know both characters better. A fun, highly recommended read!

There will never be a day where I don't complain about main characters being cops or military - I hate it with a passion especially if it's a minority main character. I do think Perez did a good job addressing issues within that field especially considering the MMC's background.

My biggest issue was the ending. It folded a little too neatly where it felt unrealistic and unnecessary. It also felt sudden. Despite the great pacing earlier on, the ending felt abrupt and like an afterthought.

Tony and Nikki's love story was so fun to watch unfold. I love the forced proximity, the vacation setting, the past and present story-telling. The prose was good, the characters were three dimensional, the pacing was great. Nothing stood out too much for me in terms of being blown away. I had a fun time reading this and would highly recommend if you're looking for a quick friends to enemies to lovers set in the DR.

Not much can save this book. It's corny and cheesy as fuck, and you can feel the pace going at breakneck speed. The author ticks off each popular trope one by one, which makes the whole thing painfully artificial. I lost interest very quickly.

And I'm sorry, but the main characters are unbearable. The alpha male who repeats over and over that "she" is his, throws her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and behaves extremely toxic, because – well – he's so big and strong. And overall just an extremely jealus prick. And then there's "she", who likes all of this for some reason and gets imaginary pregnant with quintuplets because the guy looked at her funny, and she wants to throw feminism out of the window because c'mon – big penis, and check this – this is my fav – she is a psychologist. Well, I don't think she's a good one but see for yourselfs.

I must admit that I was quite disappointed because I expected fireworks, and the whole plot had a great start. And it went downhill really quick. Ah, well. On to the next one.

Potential spoilers!!

This book has a lot going on! Love at first site, family lies, drama, criminals, kidnapping, billionaire lifestyle, ambush proposal, caveman behaviors…the list goes on and on! And it takes place in three amazing places….Miami, New York, and the Dominican Republic!

I thoroughly enjoyed it all. The Insta-connection followed by “forgetting”, followed by the tension, banter and blatant flirting that took place seven years later. The book started strong and didn’t let up. I loved it. You know what I loved more? The characters declared their love at the 50% mark and we got more of the story! Wohoo! I always want more and this story delivered. Was it a crazy and far-fetched adventure? Maybe, but I ate it up. No third act break was is a huge added bonus!

omg this boook! i never binge read a book or stay up too late to read it because I, honestly, like to sleep, but i had 3 ARCs to read and i started this one after the first two, like a couple days after and I read it in like 2 days and even stayed up as late as 1 am to read it! Ok, lets talk about my thoughts:
I LOVED the Latina rep and absolutely loved how Amelia just shipped them off to the Dominican Republic to have a little vacation with no choice lol. She knew what she was doing. The writing was so quick, fun, and easy to get through.

The characters:
Nikki: I loved her character and I thought she had so much depth. I really enjoyed learning about her family and the plot twist with her dad was so cute. She was so so funny and so cute. The part where she was dancing to Gasolina was such a funny latina moment.
Antonio: Oh my god, Antonio has quickly moved up my list of favorite book boyfriends. He cared for her so deeply and it was so cute to see. There was a part that I won't spoil for anyone but lets just say instant butterflies. The nicknames he called her were SO cute, especially the fact that they were in Spanish, I mean...mi corazon and mi amor, come on! So cute! He was super attentive and really paid attention to the little things.
Lastly, I did notice that there were some chapters with spice, but I really appreciated the author saying which ones they were so I could skip them since I'm not the biggest fan of spice. I thought that was super helpful!
Also, thank you to the author, Millie Perez, for the ARC of your book in exchange for an honest review! I will for sure be reading the first one now!

First of all, Nikki and Antonio's chemistry was off the charts from the get-go! There is absolutely nothing I love more than a good ole enemies to lovers flirty banter and I was hooked from the start.

After an unforgettable "love at first sight" meeting on New Year's Eve that left both Nikki and Tony heartbroken, the story of them falling back together was an absolute treat to read that left me with a whirlwind of emotions. I'm a sucker for two characters, who are kindred spirits, finding their person with each other. Nikki and Tony, despite being jaded with their views in love because of something from their past, falling head over heels for each other was the sweetest thing ever! Adding in the heartwarming scenes with their families were a bonus. And I will never say no to the best friend's older brother trope <3

An absolute MUST for me in every romance story is a completely unhinged, feral male main character and Antonio Nuñez did not disappoint. The man was immediately OBSESSED with Nikki after their first meeting and pined for her for 7 years!! I was rooting for him as soon he decided that he was finally going to take the plunge and get his girl. SWOON. And once they got together, their relationship just kept getting better and better. A book with no third act break-up always gets extra points for me!

Overall, this book had me giggling, twirling my hair, kicking my feet, sobbing, screaming and laughing the whole entire time. It's definitely become a one of my fav books I've read this year <3

The way i absolutely ADORED this book!!
I have to say I struggled with liking the hero at the beginning, but he's my favorite now.
This was funny and heartwarming and AMAZING!
Book one wasn't a favorite at all, mostly because I don't like Amelia, but these two... instant babies!!
Tony starts as "that a**hole!!!" 🤬 but he does an 180° and you not only get why he acts the way he does, but you end up loving him and 100% rooting for him.
Nikki, I loved her from the get-go, and I have to admit I was worried we were falling into certain Tropes I hate with her ARC, but thankfully, no! Yay!
The general plot was fun and easy to follow. The romance was beautiful and fun.
Overall, this is a new favorite, and I can't wait for everyone to fall in love with these two and their shenanigans.

Thank you so much to Millie Perez for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

My first ever ARC and I am speechless. I preordered Millie’s debut novel and immediately fell in love with her writing and the world she created. I was over the moon to find out she was writing another book in this world!! I feel honored to be able to read this pre-release so I can help push this book into all of your hands! The absolute precious and beautiful love story written with such dynamic and passionate characters makes this an easy 5⭐️ read. I love the added depth of different family dynamics, personal growth, relationship healings, and the peak into the hardships of immigrants. I cannot praise this book enough and I hope this is added to all of your carts for preorder just like it is mine because I NEED the physical copy of this gorgeous book obviously (have you seen the cover😍😍)!! Millie Perez will be an auto-buy author for the rest of my days and I’m so happy to know I was here from the beginning💓💓

i wanna be nikki’s bestfriend and i want tony to be my MANS. i so so enjoyed their banter and the enemies to lovers tension and the second chance hopefulness. and this was millie’s first open door book and WOWOW i could’ve sworn she’s been doing this forever cause that SPICE. HUBA HUBA.

there were so many elements that made this book enjoyable! however, I do feel like some things were thrown in just for shock factor? like they didn’t really need to be there to contribute to the story. it kinda muddled the story and at some points complicated the flow.

but overall it was a very enjoyable, fast read!

Thank you Millie for this ARC!! comes out august 2023 :)

I just have to start by saying: the way I lost my shit when I saw that book two was gonna be Nikki and Antonio’s story de verdad que casi muero. And their story absolutely exceeded any and all expectation I could have had. THE PINING, THE BANTER, THE “ENEMIES” TO LOVERS SECOND CHANCE GOODNESS. Millie has once again hit it out of the park.

Much like the way book 1 tugged at my heart strings as a latina with the incorporation of the family this books did as well and add in there a good old “what do I want to do? For me, not my mom not my dad” all too familiar for our cultures. It was perfect.

Can’t wait to see what’s to come after the Never Forget Duet for Millie, definitely going on my auto buy authors list.

Did I finish this book in one sitting? Yes, Yes I did.
I LOVED you never forget your first, so when I knew book 2 we coming out with Nikki’s story , I couldn’t help myself.

Tony and Nikki were just such a dreamy couple. It was that best friend’s brother/ enemies to lovers/ grumpy and sunshine that gave me all the vibes!

Millie Perez has a magical way at keeping you turning the pages unable to stop. This story is filled with second chances, heartbreak, loss and grief, mental health, family drama and filled with true LOVE!

Definitely keep your eyes out for this one! It’s such a lovely story that will keep you giggling & swooning 🩵

Where do I sign up to be part of the Nuñez fam? Ever since reading Millie’s debut novel I’ve been waiting for Antonio and Nikki’s story, and it didn’t disappoint. This story is everything a romcom should be: sweet, spicy and full of laughs. Antonio is a dream and Nikki is just full of sass and pure greatness. You can’t help but fall in love with them.

I want to commend the author on something that I find very special about this book. Without losing the fun of a romcom, Millie manages to shed light on really important subject matters that the Latinx community doesn’t speak on as much as we should: mental health in the Latinx Community, specifically amongst men; the immigrant experience and the expectations and burdens that can come from it; unhealthy family dynamics and how to heal from that, among others. It’s all so so important so I appreciate that Millie found a seamless way to incorporate these topics without the story losing it’s fun and spice.

Millie, I’m such a fan and can’t wait to read what you write next.

Quickish Review

Contemporary second chance/kinda enemies to lovers romance, with a dash of suspense. Similar beats to first books but the leads make the difference, with the brother of the first FMC getting his chance at love his sister’s best friend. I believed their connection and I enjoyed their path to love.

Looking forward to more from this author.

So grateful I got an ARC of You Never Forget Your Worst! It hit all the right buttons and I absolutely DEVOURED this one. I didn’t know if this one could top Amelia and Evan’s story, but it 1000% did! Antonio gets all of the chef kisses and eyebrow raises for his possessiveness and dirty talk. Nikki gets all of the heart eyes for her secret love for Tony and her guarded heart.

If you love romance tropes with one bed, lots of spice, a little bit of enemies to lovers and a lot of love at first sight —this one is absolutely for you!!
