Lily Fields is a story about a young woman’s journey of faith. Enjoying her career as a special education teacher, Lily Sullivan knows she is blessed with a loving family, good friends, and a relationship with God she cherishes at the deepest part of her heart. At the age of twenty-seven, she is happy and content with her life but remains hopeful about what the future may have in store. Marriage and raising children of her own is something she desires, but she has moments of doubt these blessings will ever be on the horizon. Her life as a wallflower seems to be stretched out before her with no end in sight.
In one week, Lily’s life changes dramatically. Suddenly she has three men on her mind who also have their sights set on her. Is the one who makes his intentions clear first the one she should concentrate on, or is her heart yearning more deeply for another? Seeking the plans God has laid out for her, Lily has a difficult time navigating the path, and her life becomes an obstacle course of confusion and heartbreak. Her faith that once seemed carefree and strong becomes burdensome, weak, and something she is tempted to abandon. Is it worth it: this trusting-in-God life she has been raised with and chosen for herself as a woman of faith, conviction, and surrender to Him? Or would she be better off charting her own course, taking matters into her own hands, and finding happiness apart from the Creator and Lover of her soul?
"It's not about who he is, but how you feel about him." With advice like that, I had to stop reading the book. Seriously? How could any godly friend stand and say to make a choice like who to marry by feelings alone? This book was full of bad advice, and unrealistic situations. I'll be skipping future, Wilber books.
This was an enjoyable read for the most part. I am not the typical girl who loves romance stories. In fact I kind of avoid them unless it was one of the gothic mystery / romance stories. Christian romance stories can be just as off putting for me. I have to say as romance type stories go this was good, although and one point I actually said out loud to get a move on. It felt kind of slow and contrived at one point. I pushed past it and was glad I finished. I won't read any of the others though.
Her mother reminds her she has inner beauty and someone will come along. Her two sisters have both and found mates. Someone she use to have a crush on needs help with a gift for his sister. Next thing she has three men interested in her, along with decisions, and doubts. Turning to her faith to help her, and to make the right decisions. Good story and characters.
I truly enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The characters were clearly defined and flowed throughout the story. This story has clear messages from which each reader can gain insight in how God works in our lives. He is always there with us and He know what tomorrow hold. Thanks for the journey.
This book was a great and inspirational read. It increased my faith and I loved the main character.
Lily is a special education teacher who loves her job, but feels that her life is missing something. She is content to wait for God to put Mr. Right into her life. She goes from having no one to having 3 men who want to date her. She goes through some difficult decision making, but always goes back to relying on God for His plan in her life.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and wished that there was more to her story, just so I could continue to watch the characters grow.
I LOVED this book! I loved that the main character remained true to her faith while not seeming to be a prude. And she faced real world issues while doing it. A must read for any Christian who wants a good love story that remains true to God!
Wow! I claim lily's testimony of God's goodness and faithfulness in Jesus name. I am so blown away. Can't wait to start book 2. Thank you so much Melanie.
