An enigmatic writer writes to the reader, telling the story of a maligned writer whose situation worsens until his circumstances culminate in unjust tragedy. The story is sorrowful, twisted, and entertaining.
This book is full of sarcasm’s that absolutely enjoyed. The story was gripping and I had a hard time putting it down. If your looking for book that breaks all the molds this is it.
…especially for an author reading this. His life story is expounded in brief but enough to paint a vivid picture of a man obsessed with writing and running through the rest of his life with a bulldozer.
This quote sums up the mind of this Psycho Author, and many more of us, sane or not: “My memories have become your memories with so very few words. If that is not power, then lightning can be described as just a tiny spark.”
I think it was the perfect length for this type of story and, in the end, it leaves you thinking…
The thriller author Andrew Klavan often says in his podcast that every author he knows is crazy. This book shows a lot of why that is. Written in a tongue in cheek tone, the narrative describes some of the frustrations and stresses involved in trying to write, edit and publish a book. As the old saying goes "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't really out to get you."
This is a genre I usually don’t get into, but it proved to be a brilliant dark comedy. The plot is interesting, the flow is easy going yet engaging. And it doesn’t lack good smart humor.
Psycho Author is both disturbing and interesting as it weaves through the mind of this author. Is it a dark comedy? You be the judge. In the end you will find it refreshing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Vocabulary rich, painting clear pictures of the characters and their surroundings. I laughed out loud to "peeeyooooberrrrteeee" and "...ignorant that our writings are merely the mind sneezing out remixes" when pointing out that authors are not original. The story flowed at a frantic pace leading up to the brilliant, albeit tragic ending.
This book is a quick read but leaves me with enduring empathy for our protagonist, King Author. This story's main character reminds me of Holden Caufield from "A Catcher In The Rye." As I read that book, I remember wondering if Holden was indeed insane or a genius. I have decided both, Holden and King, characters are geniuses. This author is brilliant! This book was well worth the read.
