Den Stjålne Vej (the Stolen Road) is a story following several characters in Afghanistan during the war with Taleban in the late 2000s. It follows Khan, an engineer constructing a road; Javeed, a kid living on the street; and Malika, a woman whose husband just took an additional wife.
When a book follows several storylines, they need to come together pretty seamlessly. The last ten or so pages are where the characters came together and it just didn't really work for me. It seemed rushed, messy and forced. Didn't like that. Everything up until the end was good though. The individual stories were fine. But the ending kinda ruined the book for me.
I'll have to give it just 2 stars because of the ending, but the overall quality of the book is at 3 stars for me.
