Hard-edged Cali Crazar is determined to succeed in a world that's been less than giving. Fierce and protective Felix Del Valle is sent to Cali's aid when a member of his guild catches a glimpse of the future where Cali is endangered.

Felix is an Eraser, someone with the ability to make objects vanish with a wave of his hand. Cali is a Silencer, a manipulator of sound, and has no idea of the world she has yet to uncover. As if trying to get Cali to believe she possesses supernatural abilities isn't hard enough, Felix must also explain to her that she is his destined soul mate. Even Felix has a hard time believing he's met his Mirror Mate, but when he first lays eyes on her the attraction is instant. As is the danger.

Together they must stop a power hungry corporate owner who fuels his multi-million dollar company by exploiting others with supernatural abilities. But the clock is ticking when Felix and Cali discover that Cali is the next target and the man after her is looking to use her for more than just money. It turns out she could be his one chance at eternal youth and power.

As far as heroes go, Felix is everything a romance reader can want, handsome, sexy, sweet and tender, the last two traits displayed in the novel’s initial scene with his magic act to calm the anxiety of a concerned little girl/pet owner in a veterinarian’s office (although this scene may have been written to give readers a glimpse of his supernatural powers).

In “Silent as the Grave”, debut novel from Mary K. Norris, Felix needs all of his talents to persuade Cali that he has arrived to help, not hurt her. This story immediately surges with action. In the first chapter where Cali and Felix kind of wrestle and in Chapter Two, where Cali tangles with the “two bulking men in black” she reminded me of Emma Peel in the old television series, “The Avengers” (“He took hold of her right ankle, giving her an opportunity to gather her strength and kick out with her left leg. She nailed him in the face”).

This is Book One in the Guild of Truth series. Felix is an Eraser, someone with the ability to make articles disappear. Cali is a Silencer. She can manipulate sound. Each person’s gift compliments the other, and is an excellent premise for readers of the paranormal romance genre. If you’re a fan of paranormal, suspense, romance, and action, this is your kind of novel.

Silent as the Grave is a truly original paranormal romance. I loved Cali, the spunky artist heroine. It was fun to watch her finally grow into herself and become a person she could like and trust. Felix, her Mirror Mate, was absolutely delicious. I loved every quirk in his personality, from his baking tendencies to his keeping score of how many times he saved his girl. Mary K. Norris weaved some serious magic with all of her characters, both primary and secondary. I will come back to her novels again and again to find out what happens with the Guild of Aletheia.

SILENT AS THE GRAVE begins with a bang when down-on-her-luck artist Cali goes home. From the moment she enters her parents’ house, her life is turned upside down and the adventure begins. She’s thrust into a new world of paranormal talents, including her own budding ability to silence sound, when “Eraser” Felix comes to her aid. Instant attraction ensues! Cali and Felix set off on a wild, suspenseful adventure dodging the people coming after Cali for unknown reasons, while they try to decipher the mystery.

I loved spunky Cali and hunky Felix. Who knew bakers were so hot?! Their relationship took off as fast as the first chapter propelled the reader into a secret paranormal world. Felix’s fun sidekicks Joel and Sidney envelope Cali right into their small paranormal group and Cali’s wariness slowly evaporates as she learns to trust.

Ms. Norris has created a wonderful original world with main and secondary characters you will love. I look forward to reading more about this new world! If you’re searching for a unique paranormal read with plenty of sizzling romance and lots of suspense and action, then look no further. SILENT AS THE GRAVE is a must read.

Okay, I'm going to be honest, the only reason I didn't give this five stars was that the heroine was not my favorite. She was enjoyable, but she didn't steal my heart. I should say, that for the same reasons that I didn't like her, I think other people will love her. In the beginning, it was the hero, Felix, that stole my heart. I don't want to give anything away, but I will say that he's an Eraser, and I love this unique paranormal element of the storyline. I adored all the secondary characters. Final verdict: This paranormal is worth the read and I will definitely pick the next book up when it comes out!

I truly enjoyed Mary K. Norris’ paranormal romance novel, Silent as a Grave. If you like complications that are easy to follow, twists and turns that keep you interested and highly spicy love scenes, this book is one to check out. Cali is an icy woman and with good cause. She has a troubled past and discovers not only that there are people in world with powers but that she’s one of them. Felix is a hunky baker who maneuvers his way through her ice and helps her learn about her power and the dangerous world that comes with it. Loved it!
A spicy romantic suspense with twists and turns that just keep coming!
