This elegantly illustrated little book spotlights the rituals and delights of a perfect pot of tea. Detailed sketches, whimsical observations, and lore accompany practical tips, remedies, and recipes. 80 illustrations. Ribbon tie.
the illustrations are like treasures at the bottom of the sea! it perfectly suits the mood of the book and its contents. Well, speaking of its contents… it lacks substance, but that is understandable as we can see it purposefully focuses on the visuals.
Also, I was surprised that the tea the dutch introduced to europe was purchased in Java. THIS ONE INDONESIA, NO ENGLISH NO USA 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
This book is, also, small and divine (which seems to be how books about tea come). This is amazing in all sorts of ways though. It fits into your hands and doesn't look all that amazing from the outside, but the inside is full top-to-bottom, side-to-side, watercolor paintings the whole way through and everything is down in handwriting instead of scripts. There are recipes, quotes, historical texts, instructions, comments and even places to write down all your favorite things for certain season in the back.
