I really had no idea what to expect. The cover was intriguing and since it was free, nothing gained, nothing lost. What I found was a quirky and entertaining little book. It was funnier in some spots than in others, just like any other form of comedy. Things I found hilarious got polite chuckles when I read them out loud, other parts where I shrugged received laughter from the room. Want to REALLY have fun? Pass this around and have everybody read one of the stories in a serious news voice.
I thought some of this was actually funny. I gave it one star because of the language. And the title should have tipped me off about that. Must have been asleep on the wheel on that one.
The cover looked clever so it's a freebie, right? Well the clips were kinda clevers, but not so original nor witty like a limerick...which was what I was hoping for. Most of the few pages intro the author's other stories. So it's a good chance to snapshot those stories.
As I read F***ed Up Fairy Tale News, I felt I were reading something more alive than life itself. The articles were very entertaining and I found myself laughing more than I was reading. People who love fairy tales should read this book.
This just a mash-up of news articles involving fairy-tale characters. It's written in a style similar to The Onion, but not as funny, only mildly amusing.
The primary content was fairly lackluster, due to the sheer brevity of the news items. However, the preview for the first novel (which takes up half of the 20 pages) looked interesting...
Just a short story sort of book - I loved Curses, got this for free as an ebook, and laughed a lot at the taglines that would have been in a newspaper of the world that Curses was set in.
The news blurbs in the beginning were fun to read. I love fractured fairy tales and enjoyed this teaser of the complete book. I look forward to reading more.
