About the author

Born with a rare distinction of having two birthdays Somaweera Senanayake (සොමවීර සේනානායක) has established a unique reminiscence in the minds and hearts of Sri Lankans as an artist who cares for the goodwill of the society. Being a maestro in both print and electronic media he excelled as a journalist, creative writer, author and a lecturer. Somaweera was awarded the State Literature Award for the Best Novel on three occasions and once he received the State Literature Award for the Best Book for Children. Yashorawaya the novel he wrote as a thesis for his Masters degree was the first occurrence in Sri Lankan university history where a novel was accepted as a thesis and the novel won the State Literature Award in 1978 and won the hearts of many book lovers ever since.

Somaweera a renowned social worker whose services are appreciated by many organizations including the highest ordinance of Buddhist clergy. Being the script writer of many films and teledramas he has written a script in the hearts of all Sri Lankans as a responsible creator who cares for the country, its culture and the people.

I really enjoyed the television series when I was a kid. Fully appreciated it as an adult. I can now personally relate to some of the events.

The writing style is very relaxed and easy. The story flow is simplistic yet full of high ideology.
