My favorite volume yet!

The battle with the Beast Master continues and the surprises just keep coming. Gero needs all hands on deck for this fight and his allies aren’t going to let him down. Things look bad for a while, but then something very unexpected occurs!

Following the main story section we get two bonus stories about Piichi. He is absolutely my new favorite side character (well—he’s at least tied with the Hamster Master) and these stories (one short, one longer) are fabulous. He and his significant other, Marin, are exactly the kind of couple that Gero aspires to.

So much action and fun in this volume. Gero finally fights the Beast Master but it leaves off at a cliffhanger! We also get a fun one shot of the hunter named Piichi and his girlfriend. We learned early on in the previous volume that he’s been killing to make the world better for the life he wants with Marin. He will do anything for her. Anyway, back to Gero and the Beast Master, they look to be pushing their limits and neither is backing down. The action is a lot of fun to read and look at that I’m anticipating the next volume. We also don’t know what’s happening to Arashiyama and what she was planning. Hopefully all goes well for her.

Gero, Piichi, and Kinsaki prepare to storm the home base of the Beast Master Clan to save Arashiyama. Kinsaki calls in a favor from the Water Master who joins Gero in his direct approach while Piichi and Kinsaki sneak in through a back door.

Everything is going well... until they reach the research lab where the head of the clan was and end up having to fight his 93 animal chimera.

But this fight will have to be concluded later, because the last chapter of this volume was a one-shot featuring Piichi and his fiancée. I have multiple concerns, but I'm glad these two are happy with each other at least.

The water master is so bad!!!! OMG IN ONE OF THE PAST VOLUMES HE WAS LIKE “nobody has ever thanked me before” BUT GUESS WHAT BITCH SHE LITERALLY HAS SO THIS FUCKER WAS JUST LYING!!! Or probably forgot cause he was in his emo I don’t care phase. Highkey it is weird to skin your partner & wear them like a suit!! HE GROOMED HER & MANIPULATED HER TO DO HIS BIDDING. He just had to aura farm with the cow skull didn’t he. Pichi & his girlfriend are so cute omg. The towels in the shape of roses is so cute! Dude Marin’s mom is actually batshit insane, it’s like a boy mom but 10x worse.

There are some weaker parts of the plot here, but the art is pretty killer. Those shots of Piichi showing his wild mental process and running thoughts? All the animal 'spirits' and animal abilities? Yeah those are great! I don't much care for the actual villain here, or how the powerups work and all that, but it looks cool and embraces being a bit goofy so I enjoyed this volume.

Not my fave arc I'll be real. I wish Ushio got a bigger role in this team up, and Gero's motivations are getting repetitive (he doesn't have to announce that he wants to live a happy married life in eeeeevery fight...)

It was an odd choice to have such a long bonus story with Piichi meeting Marin’s mom. Also WTF was the deal with her mom? Are we going to see more of her/them moving forward, or was this just a really random one off?
