The Hot Floor

Rate this book
Two plus one equals scorching hot fun.

Dumped by his boyfriend and reduced to living in a grotty bedsit, Josh Carpenter has gotten used to expecting the worst. Now he lives only for his job as a glassblower…and occasional glimpses of his sexy downstairs neighbors, Rai Nakamura and Evan Truman.

Every time he overhears the diminutive academic and the hunky plumber having loud and obviously kinky sex, Josh is overwhelmed with lust…and a longing for a fraction of what they have.

To his amazement, Rai and Evan find his embarrassing tendency to blush utterly charming, and the three men grow closer over the course of the long, hot summer. Despite Rai’s charming flirtation and Evan’s smoldering gaze, Josh is determined never to break his new friends’ loving bonds.

On the night a naked Josh falls—quite literally—into the middle of one of Rai and Evan’s marathon sex sessions, the force of their mutual attraction takes control. But just as Josh dares to hope, he senses a change. Leaving him to wonder if the winds of love are about to blow his way at last…or if history is about to repeat itself.

Contains one well-endowed stud with a sexy accent, one improbably toppy bottom boy with an unfortunate owl obsession, and one blushing naïf who can’t believe his luck. Also, the occasional indulgence in mathematical spanking and some shameless armpit sex.

English through and through, Josephine Myles is addicted to tea and busy cultivating a reputation for eccentricity. She writes gay erotica and romance, but finds the erotica keeps cuddling up to the romance, and the romance keeps corrupting the erotica. She blames her rebellious muse but he never listens to her anyway, no matter how much she threatens him with a big stick. She's beginning to suspect he enjoys it.

Review posted at The Armchair Reader.

Josh is completely smitten with his downstair neighbors Rai and Evan. It doesn't help that every time he spends time with his best friend Denise (who lives one floor below the men) he can hear them having kinky, noisy sex that pounds the walls. He longs for a piece of what they have -- a great relationship, unspoken communication -- and the daily reminder of the two hot men becomes the focal point of his fantasies after a disappointing relationship history. To his surprise, when he befriends the two and gets to know them better, he can relate to both on difference levels. They become good friends until a rather hilarious accident forces Josh to temporarily live with the two men.

They quickly move on from friendship and find that they have an insanely strong sexual connection and spend the next few weeks exploring each other and the new way they relate to one another. Along the way, Josh finds he has growing feelings for the men, and waiting for them to kick him out of their bed and go back to their regular lives, all the while knowing that he'll be changed person when the other shoe finally drops, leaving him hopelessly in love with two men who already have a future without him.

I think that Josephine Myles made a very important choice with this story, whether it was purposeful or not. There is a lot of supply in the m/m market now, which means that what is different stands out. That leads to a lot of genre mashing and while that can work well for a story and certainly stands out, there is something to be said for character driven stories that really look at and develop one particular issue. In the case of m/m/m menage in particular, most of the ones I read these days aren't really about the relationship between the three men, at least not front and center. But The Hot Floor does focus on those issues in such a relationship that would crop up in the real world -- jealousy, prior history, and the different dynamics of trust among more than a two-person couple -- and that is why it worked so well for me.

Josh is an endearing character and though he doubts it at every turn, I could see why both Evan and Rai were attracted to him and could easily fall for him, even when it goes against their rules. He's completely unaware of what he offers in a relationship or friendship, consistently afraid to trust when anything but a definitive proposal keeps him feeling like the outsider in an already existing relationship. Past relationships as well as family history make it difficult for him to trust, especially to show others his true self. His blush becomes a bit of a trademark he does it so often, when just a thought of talking dirty makes him stammer over his words. The fact that everything he experiences with Evan and Rai is so new makes the experiences more meaningful, and I got the sense that it wasn't simply what he could offer their relationship that made him such a great third (and then more than that) but that they both offer something very special for Josh as well. The added security of being welcomed into an already existing relationship helped him focus on other things (like his trust issues).

The focus of the story is really on Josh's neuroses, in particular those issues of trust and his fear of opening up to another man. The great thing about him falling for Evan and Rai is that the arrangement starts out as friendship and then solely as fun sex. The "rules" the two have in place of not sleeping with a friend or neighbor give Josh structure and boundaries, even though they're eventually broken. I loved that we really get to see the lighter side of their lives, especially with Rai around, who constantly had me cracking up in laughter. It is important for there to be something that the "third" can bring to the relationship and I found that I rather liked the fact that even though Josh had things to bring to the table that made a menage relationship work, the original relationship between Rai and Evan was great and had no need of being "fixed". It wasn't a case of him "saving" their relationship, which when I thought about it, seems to be more often the case in menage.

I was surprised and delighted to see that the story didn't devolve into typical romance plot faults. I kept growing nervous about their faulty building, but was happy to see how the situation resolved. For the most part, however, I simply liked that the story spent time with the three of them, often happy and showing the lighter side of a beginning relationship without getting bogged down in what doesn't work and then fixing it. They simply work well together, and the difficulties involved in their relationship were internal and organic to the characters.

I can't wait to read this again. So far it is my favorite of this author's books, and it was a real delight to read. I can't wait to read what she publishes next!

How much fun was this? And how hot was this? Those are rhetorical questions, BTW, because this book was fun and also hot.

Josh's ex-boyfriend told him that he was boring in bed. Which just shows that the ex-boyfriend must have had no skills, because when Josh gets the chance to have some fun with his neighbours Rai and Evan, nobody's complaining. Also, the way Josh literally falls into the boys' life: hilarious.

I'm always a bit wary of menages -- just because it's easy to lose people in a crowd -- but that's not the case here. Each of the guys retains his unique voice, nobody is pushed to one side, and there is an honest examination of the emotional issues involved in a relationship of three.

I would have loved some more interaction with the other neighbours in the flats, because they were such fun, well-drawn characters. And I loved the Britishness of this book -- the beautifully-rendered settings that don't exist anywhere else in the world, and the fantastic British slang.

In an almost unrelated note: whatever happened to my Mum's green macrame owl, and will she think I'm weird if I ask?

Re-read- February 2021 - yum! Love it! Perfect comfort read for me.
July 2017 - man this book has alot of sex.... And I loved it! Reading it again this time round has me craving a sequel!! Possibly my favourite MMM!

July 2015
Loved this so much the second time round. So funny with just a little bit of light kink: spanking, humiliation and bondage. Sooooo HOT!! and the relationship's still felt real and realistic.

Original review:

This was my first m/m/m novel. I have read plenty of m/m/f menages and usually those involve bi sexual men who need a menage to feel happy and complete, so i was interested to see how this this would go.

It did not disappoint. Evan and Rai had a good relationship and didn't need an extra person but found they both feel in love in Josh anyway. I loved all the characters in this book, they were written beautifully and were all different enough to make the relationship work.

The sex was of course very hot and I was definitely not disappointed with that.

Honestly the only thing I didn't like about it was that it ended.

Update: There's a free 5000 word Christmas special featuring The Hot Floor guys over on my blog. You can find it here. Be warned, it's pure smut!

Why did I write this book? Okay, I'll admit it's partly because of the sheer hotness that is three men together, but there's more than that. I wanted to create a menage relationship that could really work. So many times when I read m/m/m romances there seem to be insurmountable problems ahead, and instead of the HEA I crave, I find myself left worried that they'll end up either giving up on the relationship or killing each other.

So, this is a lighthearted and seriously smutty book featuring three men who are made for each other--Josh just doesn't realise it yet. I've set it in Bath again, because I love the place. If you want to find out more about the background to the story and the characters, check out the Hot Floor boys on Pinterest: Josh Carpenter has a life, Rai's Retromania and Evan's Stuff.

Sexy story that never lost its sense of humor. The awkward moments, and times when things didn't go exactly as planned made this story so much hotter than all those impossibly beautiful bodies doing impossibly athletic, and erotic things. I had an excellent feeling for all the characters, and I love how choosing to take a more submissive role in sex didn't diminish any of the characters as men, and didn't mean that they had no ability to advocate for themselves, and their own needs. Just what I was looking for!

4.5 stars. Very good m/m/m romance about a glassblower who's attracted to the couple living downstairs from him. As they become friends, his attraction only increases, but he respects their rule about not getting involved with people they see all the time. And then things change in a flood of surprising circumstances...

BR with my lady Marte

This was such a great MMM book. Very funny, very English.

Josh lives in this tiny apartment and has been enjoying the show every night of his two neighbors getting it on. He has heard rumors that his neighbors Rai and Evan occasionally invite a third person to their bed, but he’s doesn’t think they will be interested in him.

That is until he takes a bath and crashes through the floor right into the bathroom of his hot neighbors.

Crack!
The whole bath shifted in a way that bathtubs never, ever should. An inch of raw plaster had appeared between the bottom of the tiles and the top of the tub. Metal pipes groaned. Wood creaked. I grabbed the handlebars and braced myself to stand. That was when the bottom fell out of my world.

description

Rai and Evan are very pleased to see who fell through their ceiling. And it looked like Josh interrupted something.

His hands were out of sight behind him, giving him nothing to cover up his angry red erection. Rai had a length of black-and-yellow-striped cloth wrapped around the base of his cock and behind his balls, making them jut forward obscenely. It took me a moment to realise it must have been the tie from around his neck. Then it all fell into place. “Is that your school uniform?” I blurted out.

Yes, Rai and Evan do like their kinky games. And they are very happy to introduce shy Josh to some of it.

Josh moves into their place temporarily because of his lack of a bathroom. The three of them start a relationship based on friendship and lots of sex.

These guys were hilarious. There were so many funny scenes, I loved it.

I have to admit, I wouldn’t necessarily call the sex scenes hot. The dirty talk was so English, I couldn’t stop laughing most of the time.

An excellent MMM book without too much angst (there is some near the end, but it was very minor). And there is a lovely HEA.

The characters in the (admittedly few) m/m/m stories I have read usually seem to fall into two categories. Either the three men involved are too underdeveloped to distinguish from each other, or the author takes such pains to draw attention to their differences that they end up as caricatures. In The Hot Floor, Josephine Myles doesn't fall into either of those traps. Josh, Rai, and Evan are distinct, multi-dimensional characters who form a believable three-way partnership. The progress of their relationship is fun to watch, and their solutions to the problems they face as a threesome are convincing. And boy, are they hot together!

The secondary characters in this novel are just as lovable as the three MCs. In fact, I wish they had featured more prominently, especially the incorrigible Dylan and the delightful Stella. The decaying building in which they live plays such an important role in the story that it practically qualifies as a character as well.

I definitely recommend this book, even to readers who are typically not fans of menage. It is steamy, funny, and completely charming.

Hoo boy! This was indeed a hot story that I should not have read at my desk. Hello? Red head with fair skin and no poker face. Wow. *fans self*

This book…I have been tip toeing my way into the realm of m/m/m lately and it intrigues me to no end. Not only does the imagery of three men together sound beyond sexy and amazing but I have always been curious as to how a ménage works, not mechanical but emotionally. What drives it and how can the day to day functionality out of the bedroom work? Ms. Myles does a fantastic job telling this story and I am now in love with boys who love a boy, who loves another boy.

The story begins amazingly as Josh sits with his friend painting her toenails and listening to her upstairs neighbors getting it on while causing an orchestra of commotion with their noisy bed springs. We soon learn that Josh has a massive crush on said couple and that he has recently been dumped by his ex and has moved to the attic flat of the shared building along with his friend Denise and the boys, Rai Nakamura and Evan Truman.

Our narrator is Josh, Josh Carpenter, a glass blower by trade and a shy hopeless romantic by default. I adored the hell out of this boy. From learning about how and why he was dumped by his ex to his dealings with his one off Dylan and his first invite to hang out with Evan and Rai, he just amazed me. Being in his head, knowing the things that he wanted, even ones involving armpits that I don’t quite get, made me root for him to get everything, to get the world and all the love he deserves.

“I think you’re just jealous.”
“Maybe.”
“Which one are you jealous of, though?”
“Both of them.”

The slow building friendship between the three boys was so much fun. I liked the flirty bits of Rai and the gruff exterior that is Evan. The boys having dinner and playing games was a brilliant way to get to know them. I liked how as a couple, Rai and Evan have rules when it comes to adding someone into their bed but when a deliciously nude and ready Josh quite literally falls into their lives, his presence allows them the freedom and exploration to break all the rules.

As the three men create a new set of rules for their new friends with benefits realtionship, things get interesting. Not only do we get to know the boys in bed but we get to know them out of it. The time spent as a triad, and as a two-some of pairs…you know what I mean, right…we get to see each man develop into this new creature. We get Rai with Evan. We get Rai with Josh. We get Josh with Evan and we get the three of them together and it’s gorgeous. The simplicity of their friendship in an honestly complicated relationship was a joy to read and see it grew on the page.

I longed to be the one in the middle, knowing I was the centre of their attention. The one who could love them both and give them something more than just the two of them together. Something they seemed to need.

Now, Josh being in his head most of the time allows for a bit of angst that just broke my heart. I was ready for a bit of kinky fun with this book but I should know better, I am a self proclaimed fan girl of the author and I know that she brings the feels and oh boy did she ever with this one. Gah! I am a big puddle of goo having just finished this. I loved the end, adored the hell out of it and I plan to keep this book handy for a re-read.

The Hot Floor was amazing. I have my go to authors when I need to be brought out of a funk. When life is kicking me in the nards and I need to wrap my head around a story and get lost in the lives of; a gorgeous plumber, a debauched angel in nerd specs and the twink they both adore. Obviously, Josephine Myles and her boys do that for me each and every time and I am head over heels for each of them.

Reviewed for www.heartsonfirereviews.com

Dear sweet, blushing Josh. He really hasn’t gotten past being told that he was boring in bed as he was being dumped by his boyfriend. It’s been six months, and despite one pathetic drunken hook up, he hasn’t had sex at all. He is living in a poorly partitioned and flimsily constructed apartment house. He has a job that he really loves, a good boss and his best friend Denise but he is lonely and feels like he is missing something. He is infatuated with his two hot downstairs neighbors, Evan and Rai, who’s love and affection is there for everyone to see and Josh dreams of having a relationship like that with someone of his own someday. The sound of Evan and Rai’s loud and boisterous sex life carries through the thin walls and is the cause of his frequent wank sessions.

Rai is a beautiful man of Japanese descent who is super flirty, super hot and has a super brain. He is going to school for his PHD in economics and is head over heels in love with his macho plumber Evan. Evan is a man’s man who works hard, gets sweaty and adores Rai. They have had threesomes in the past but they have very specific rules about not having sex with anyone that they work with or live close to and absolutely no kissing with any of their hook ups. Keeping their ‘no sex with neighbors’ rule intact, the men develop a friendship over a period of months. Josh spends almost every evening with the men eating, watching movies and playing board games. Little does Josh know, both Rai and Evan find him irresistible and are ready to break their rules just for Josh.

There is a lot of sex in this book but I really liked the fact that there was a solid friendship that formed prior to the men ever having sex. Rai and Evan communicate very well and discuss everything and, with a couple of exceptions, this carries over to their relationship with Josh. When the men get together the sex is off the charts hot and it made my perverted little heart happy to read. There is very little angst in this book and the pacing is mostly good. There was a couple of times that it did drag a bit but it was easily overlooked. As Ms. Myles is “English through and through”, I did have a little difficulty with some of the words and phrasing as it was foreign to me but it didn’t detract from the story.

I have to confess that I am not a huge fan of ménages but I kept an open mind going into this story and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed this book.I think that a good ménage story is difficult to come by since there often seems to be an imbalance of power in the relationships. I am happy to say that that wasn’t the case here as each man brought something unique to the relationship and they complimented each other. I also loved the fact that Ms. Myles broke the stereotypical mold with these men. Big, macho Evan is dominant and loves to top but he happens to love bottoming when the mood hits him. Rai may be small in stature and a total bottom but Josh brings out his dominant side. Josh is a passive submissive in bed but he versatile and can give both Evan and Rai what they need and he is no one’s door mat. I love characters that don’t conform to what we are used to reading.

I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a nice easy read that is infused with humor and has smoking hot men doing what they love best, each other. Don’t take it too seriously, it is sex filled fun, and a very enjoyable read.

“Oh my God, they’re at it again. They’re like bloody clockwork. I could set my watch by them.” Denise scowled at the ceiling of her living room, and I did my best to look uninterested in the sounds that were pounding down through the bedsprings, floorboards and plaster. The sounds of two horny men humping each other senseless.
“We could swap flats, if you like. You can hardly hear them from the top floor.” Even if you lay with your ear pressed to the floorboards. Believe me, I’d tried. Why else would I choose that precise time to head down for a drink at Denise’s every evening?"

*snickers* This is how this book starts. It definitely made me want to read further!

It was a very enjoyable read. I really liked all three MCs, Josh, Evan and Rai. They each got their own personality and got me charmed. Maybe because they're British. They seemed real to me and not cheesy, polished or cliché. The secondary characters were great as well, his boss and glassblowing mentor Liam, his girl friend Denise and Stella the old lady downstairs.

Lots of funny AND hot moments in this story.

When the blurb says "when a naked Josh falls - quite literally - into one of Rai and Evan’s marathon sex sessions", I didn't anticipate HOW literally he falls! Hahaha, the most hilarious moment ever. Even more hilarious when depicting Evan...

"dressed in his blue overalls. He looked just like he did when he got back from a day’s work— all except for the way his massive erection stuck out of the open buttons at the crotch. I couldn’t stop staring."

OMG! Hahaha! And Rai...

“Ev-annn!” Rai whined. “What’s going on in there? Come and untie me!”

And there's more, but I'll let you find out for youself.

Okay, one more then. From Rai showing his uh.. charming personality. ;)

“Sometimes the little brain knows best,” Rai said, mock-serious. “I always try to listen to mine.”
“Aye, well , yours talks a mile a minute, pet. I’m surprised you haven’t gone deaf.” (Evan)
“It’s blind, sweetheart. Wanking makes you go blind. Hence the glasses. Clearly you’re not doing it right, if you’ve still got twenty-twenty vision.”

Highly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Okay, so I finally got around to reading this one, which I'd had for quite a while, and must confess that I have no idea why I'd held off this long.

I mean, MENAGE, hello! Right?

It was fun, flirty and sexy, with more heart than actual feels. Times three.

It had plenty of hot scenes and was slow burn enough relationship-wise to keep me wanting more.

If I had to choose one thing about the story that I'd change, it would be more actual talking between the three MC's about their true feelings as things progressed from just sex to more. Much more.

Actually, that's not entirely true. As with most stories that I've read with a hint of a dom/sub thing going on, I really can't keep a straight face and take it seriously. So I could have passed on that sub-plot all together.

It's not my thing, at all, so when there's dirty talk, with a hint of humiliation, using phrases like " good little fucktoy ," I invariably end up rolling my eyes more than finding it steamy or provocative.

But the rest of the hotness?

I wouldn't have changed a damn thing as these three deeply and thoroughly explored between every nook and cranny of the pages. ;- )

But this was a great story, with very few pages actually dedicated to submission, spanking, cheesy dirty talk and the like, so I truly enjoyed the book from start to finish.

This one rated a solid 4 stars for me and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a thing for a happy couple becoming a happy throuple.

I assumed this would be a fun, sexy read, but I didn't expect to fall in love with the story so much or find it so relatable. First off- yes, it's hot as hell. Scorchingly so. The erotica aspect of this book is center stage, and it's so well done. Sometimes the choreography gets confusing for me in a ménage, but this paints a VERY vivid image. The kink is there, but it's not over the top.

But this, to me, was more than just erotica for the sake of erotica. The way their triad came together (hehe) was perfect for me. It began with Josh fantasizing about Evan and Rai, an established couple, from the sidelines. A slapstick ridiculous bathroom catastrophe puts him in the position of establishing a friendship with the men, and later making his wildest wet dreams come true. But what I loved was the relationship dynamic. It explores the push and pull, insecurity, and awkwardness of figuring out how to make a triad work more honestly than most ménage books I've read. Josh's fears about ruining their friendship, messing up Rai and Evan's relationship, and anxiety over how he fit in hit close to home. I was surprised by how emotionally satisfying it was to see them hit their stride.

The writing style was another thing that kept me glued to this. It's got that very British, dry but still silly humor that had me laughing out loud at several points. The banter and voices of the characters were perfect. Even though the story is told in first person from Josh's perspective, I still felt like I knew Rai and Evan.

I highly recommend this one if you're looking for a sexy but not sleazy, emotional but not angsty, and sweet but not fluffy read. Particularly if you're a fan of books like Pansies by Alexis Hall or The Plumber's Mate by JL Merrow.

For the first time, this book gave my very favorite m/m/m book, The Strongest Shape by Tessa Cardenas, a run for it's money. It really is that good. Smutty, angsty (but not overwhelmingly so) and delicious (Evan. Seriously. Evan is the best), I was thrilled with The Hot Floor because it seemed realistic, which is something I find lacking in most menage books. And the best part? The humor. This book was funny, in a so very British kind of way. Excellent.

Loved this.

What a delightful surprise this book was for me. Josh Carpenter is a glassblower who was recently dumped by his boyfriend, forcing him to move into a small attic conversion to make ends meet. Once moved in he begins crushing on his downstairs neighbors Rai Nakamura and Evan Truman. Rai and Evan are an established couple who occasionally invite a third to play with them but they have very firm ground rules, no one they work with and no one they live near, these rules exist so that the third doesn't infringe on their relationship. So Josh ends up becoming a friend to them instead of a lover.

It's this build up of their friendship that kicks this to a next level menage. The attraction is strong for all three of them and they eventually break a few rules and then break more and more. The sex happens but it happens after these characters have had a strong introduction and their personalities are firmly established.

I adore Myles' writing style. I laughed so many times reading this book, the dialogue is so clever and rich and so very authentically British, I just really felt transported to another country while reading this and I loved it. The conversations just flowed so naturally and the story really delves into the dynamics of the menage, touching on the jealously and the awkwardness inherent in this kind of relationship.

The story is narrated by Josh and he is just the sweetest, most adorable person. He feels most things very strongly and flushes scarlet often and so charmingly. He is desperately attracted to these two men and wants nothing more than to stay with them but it's this attraction that causes him to never, ever want to hurt their established relationship so he goes out of his way to make sure they never feel threatened.

While they're normally great with communicating about the sexual side of the menage they don't touch on Josh's insecurities and this leads to the main angsty storyline as Josh navigates the rough seas of loving the physical effects of the menage while trying to avoid sinking deeper in the emotional ones.

There is a strong set of secondary characters here that just add to the richness of this read. I really enjoyed Dylan and would love to see a sequel that gives him an HEA. He was so cute and funny.

I would totally recommend this story to fans of menages but also to readers who have reservations about this type of story or feel it isn't for them. There is sex here and some of it is mildly kinky but the sex isn't the focus of this story, the characters are and the location shines as well. This is just a lovely, lovely read about a lonely man looking for love and finding it with two other men. Gorgeous stuff. Highly recommended!

This book just hit all the right notes for me. Josh is shy and self-doubting after being dumped by his last boyfriend for being "boring in bed," but his essential sweetness comes though clearly. He can't help both envying and lusting after the couple one floor down, Evan and Rai. They are a wonderful study in contrasts, each sexy and interesting in his own way, and when Josh hears from his best friend that they have had three-ways in the past he can't help but picture it. Still it's nothing but fantasy to him, until an accident brings all three of them together. I loved the way the relationship began, with hot sex and companionship that Josh doesn't dare imagine will become anything more. The three together complement each other beautifully and the reader can feel the connections forming even as Josh fails to believe in his own worth. Although the conflict in this story comes from insecurity and miscommunication, it feels natural and not overdone. The emotions develop believably, the guys work so well together, and I fell for all three of them. This will be a reread.

Maybe if I hadn’t read this author’s, “How to Train Your Dom in Five Easy Steps,” first than I would have enjoyed this one more. Because I really liked that one. Maybe my expectations were too high. This one? It was fine. Had some sizzle. I liked it. But can’t say I loved it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

~MENAGE AND A JAPANESE CHARACTER. IT HAD ME AT HELLO!!~

4.5

There’s nothing that gets me more excited than a ménage, and when you throw a Japanese character into it O_O well… I just about lose my mind. The Hot Floor felt like it was written for me cus it embodies all the things I love to read. I am pretty much easy to please, but I do know what I want to read about in order to make a trias relationship work. I think the author did a really good and I can believe in their HEA.

Whenever Josh hangs out with his quirky friend in her apartment, he always gets an earful from the floor above. Denise's very sexy neighbours Rai Nakumura (cus I gotta put in his whole name) and Evan kinky love fest is enough to give Josh a heart attack, but somehow he finds himself lusting after the men. He thinks about what it would be like to get all down and dirty with them, but Josh knows all it will ever come to be is fantasy. First, he's too shy and blushes at the mere mention of sex, and his last boyfriend who dumped him told him he sucked in bed. So he really does not have the confidence to strike up a conversation with them. When Evan and Rai approach him, Josh is shell-shocked. It comes as a surprise when a friendship begins to develop between the men, friendship with an underlying of “I wanna rip our freaking clothes off”.

When Josh literally comes crashing into Rai and Evan's life he fins himself wrapped up in between two men experiencing the most amazing sex of his life. With sex comes doubt and Josh fears driving a wedge between the men, and losing the two men who comes to be his closest friends. Seems it won't be a onetime deal, but Josh still fears the unexpected. What if the flame goes out and suddenly he's being kicked to curb, and Rai/Evan move on to their very established relationship.

The author did some wonderful things making the sex apart of the foundation of their relationship. The friendship part of the story provided a building block to long lasting but it's with all the loving that I think Josh was able to get it. Nothing was ever perfect from the get go, and all the troubles that they encountered really provided a realistic feel and made their relationship all the more believable.

Josh is like the yin to their yang, he's like the personality trait that Ran and Evan are missing. Rai the flamboyant sexphine, Evan the big manly cuddle bear, and Josh shy and undemanding. He is the balance they never even knew they needed. So when it comes to what’s going on in the bedroom, shit is explosive. My pants have disappeared and I am waiting for them to return cus I must do a bit of grocery shopping.

I only had one thing that bothered me, and that’s when Josh was preparing a gift for Evan and Rai. As a glassblower, Josh gets to make beautiful things so I was excited to read about him presenting his gifts to the boys. I didn't get it, and I felt like it would have been a beautiful scene so I was all let down. Though one of the gifts eventually gets buried balls deep in him >.<

Yes, I liked the crap out of it, and loved how their relationship was presented. The ending felt a bit rushed to me (but that could be cus I wanted more). I am down for a Jo Myles ménage any day, she can keep writing about Asian characters I am always down for that. Loved It!!

3.75 stars rounded up

It was the last day of March 2017 and I realized that I hadn't pick any book for my own personal challenge. I am always a bit weary with MMM romance (I love my men to be committed to just each other) but I also know there must be some great MMM romance out there.

So I "cheated" a bit, I picked a genre I am not comfortable to read but with an author whose work I am quite familiar with. The Hot Floor was a Samhain release, I had it with me for YEARS, so I thought about time I gave it a go.

Well, hot damn, I really ENJOYED this one!! It was really fun!!

I think it helped that the story was written from 1st person POV, and I loved Josh. I loved his thoughts, how he desired to be part of the menage couple with Evan and Rai, and how he worried because he didn't want to wreck the existing relationship. Josh was endearing!! *hugs Josh*

I also loved that Evan and Rai were different as individual but they clearly worked as a couple and they adored Josh. Evan and Rai's relationship was inspiring ... they actually talked and communicated and had rules that kept them equally happy as partners.

AND, surprisingly, I enjoyed all the sex scenes as well. I was probably in the right mood for those :). I totally could see this relationship work between Josh, Evan, and Rai for a LONG time! I think all three men contributed something and it strengthen their love.

The only 'downside' to the book was that because it was solely written from Josh's perspective, I still felt that I didn't know Evan and Rai that well. Also, I was BUMMED that I didn't get to read the scene where *pout*

All in all, a successful challenge *beaming happily*

I was reading this while in a train going home and I was like...
description

3 guys. What can go wrong, right? Sure, some moments were hot that earned me some semi, but that's it. The cover is hot though.

The story was flat.
The characters were okay.
The writing... eh.
I almost DNFd it. so..

Re-read 04/2022: 3 stars
I'm downgrading my rating to 3 stars not because there's something wrong with the book, but because my tastes have changed since I last read it 9 years ago. I liked the threesome dynamics, but there were too many sex scenes for my liking and I feel like they suffocated the rest of the story. Still, it was nice to revisit!

This was my Friday Night Decompression Read, for which I wanted hot slutty sex, no non-con, no slaves, and no meaningful content. It totally delivered. Squeeable hotness. Evan's and Rai's dirty talk was particularly enjoyable.

4.5 stars for this hot kinky ride. Really enjoyed the vulnerable side of each character - they were three parts to a jigsaw - they just fit ❤️

Hot plus Hotter equals Hottest.
Yep, this was good kinky fun. Not my favorite three-in-the-bed but a scorching second place.
I always love a good Jo story and this was no exception!

Yes, hot indeed--lots of sex in this, and a flamboyant toppy bottom, a protective bear and a lonely heart....
Also, the three of them got to have the most creative way of getting together EVER

The three leads were beautifully drawn, but I also liked all the supportive characters, recognizably painted in only a few bold strokes each. I missed the house community by the end, though, would've wished for a few sentences about what became of them after having gotten so invested with them.

This was BDSM light in regard to the technicalities, but I loved the way how their love life was just a bit spiced by the kink (as opposed to living the lifestyle 24/7). It just fit.

I went into this book with high hopes after seeing the reviews, but I think I am in minority after reading. Unfortunately, this story just did not work for me. I just couldn't connect with the characters and had that feeling that one was more of a third wheel and not a complete part of the menage.

I really enjoyed this story. It was to say the least smokin' hot! I've read a few menage stories and like all books some are better than others, this was definitely one of the better than stories.

Josh is already full of insecurities and getting dumped by Kenny did nothing to alleviate any of them, then along come Evan and Rai a couple who seemed to totally have it together, or did they? They understood each other and in some ways were so in sync with one another but still something was missing for them. On top of this throw in an Amazonian BFF for Josh, a cute little old lady neighbor for all and a couple more quirky neighbors for some added interest toss them all into a poorly renovated home with dubious stability in the floors, add a flirty twink bartender just for fun, Oh! and let's not forget the owners of the glass works where Josh is employed and that rounds out the cast of characters in 'The Hot Floor'.

The only thing that truly irked me in this entire story was the Amazonian BFF. I mean really, do all females assume that just because a guy is gay he wants to spend an evening painting toenails and braiding hair or doing other girly things? I'm female and I don't want to spend an evening doing that crap so why would I assume any man, gay or otherwise would want to? Ok I've acknowledged my pet peeve now back to the book.

We have 3 hot men, a flat with questionable floors and an eclectic collection of friends and neighbors. What more could a story need...some hot sex, check we have that too! Boy do we have hot sex!

If menage isn't your thing, you'll probably want to keep shopping, if it is or you're not sure you might want to check this one out.
